A nice take on the older NFS style.

I will be short and too the point, NFS The Run is an awesome racing game, with the campaign/story mode being very well designed. The Challenge Series consists of races, time trials, and one-on-one battles that require high levels of driving skill. There is a huge selection cars, ranging from old school to new, high-end ones such as the Pagani Huayra. As a side note, there are a few cars only available on the PS3 version, most notably the Bugatti Veyron. So if you have access to a PS3, I would recommend buying that version. Don't miss out!

Pros: graphics
Cons: loading times, car handling.
The game doesn't have a good feel. A 40:60 loading time vs. actual playing time causes the game to get old quick. There is no customization whatsoever. Storyline is mediocre. Apparently a ford focus can hang with a Lamborghini; realism is lacking. This the worst NFS game to date. Don't waste your money.

This is NOT a must have game

Load time between races feels as long as the race itself; realism is almost cartoonish; not as many cars to choose from as past games; minimal customization available; weak story mode where you face the same rival more than once to advance the story; multiplayer is tolerable; this is a step in the wrong direction

Good game, great graphics. Cars have decent physics. The style of this game is much different than the previous version.
The previous game allowed you to be a cop or a driver and you could pick courses if you got tired of losing on one.
With the "The Run", you are driving from California to New York. There are no other tracks and if you get tired, all you can do is shut it off. You are limited to changing cars every few sections, so picking a car that may work better is out of the question.
All in all, if you like the series, this is a great game. If you haven't tried this series before, get the previous title and you'll get the bug for the series.

Slammed my steering wheel on the ground playing this game today. This game is terrible!! Driving physics S*CK!!!! This game is neither a Sim or Arcade! You can't choose single race events on The Run (you can on Challenge series# and can't switch cars mid game. You have to play the level with the car you choose #unless you stop at a gas station#. The game's rendition of the King Cobra, M3 or GT2RS40 - terrible. This game rates cars handling easy, normal, challenging, etc etc. and the gameplay is affected accordingly - REALLY? My gameplay experience is gonna suck because I chose Porsche #normal handling# for highway levels? Oversteer AND Understeer, spin outs AND stops at half pedal, poor braking, fish tailing on straightaways for no reason. Graphics are mediocre. Not to mention the RIDICULOUS load times - BRUTAL! Take Hot Pursuit 2010 as a comparison. IMO, THE BEST racing game with a steering wheel/ Pedals. Has actual vehicle show case descriptions, beautiful driving pysics, good soundtrack. You can win races in any car so long as you know how to handle it. Actual car mechanics vary based on vehicle specs. If you understand the car you can change your driving accordingly. You can choose from a gallery of cars. Not so with The Run. For crying out loud does the Porsche GT2 RS40 really drive like that? Friggin c'mon!!! Been a NFS fan FOR-EVER - since Need For Speed on the Sega Saturn! Owned almost all the games in the EA NFS franchise: Need for Speed, Hot Pursuit 2 #PS1#, Most Wanted, Carbon, Pro Street, Undercover, Pro Street2, Shift 1&2 and my absolute fave Hot Pursuit #2010) that I played on almost all consoles, Sega Saturn, PC and PS One, Xbox and 360. This one is terrible! I was mega excited about this release especially because of the Chicago scenes. I won't be playing it long enough to see it. Won't be buying this Black Friday.

I was really excited to get this game. I have played all of the NFS series and have always had tons of fun with them. The graphics and sound are great in this game. What I am disappointed with is the races seem to get old after a while. It seems like I am waiting for it to load more then actual play time. What I loved about the old games was the extensive customization levels. This one you can't customize at all and in order to switch cars you have to drive through a gas station during a race. Usually by the time I see the gas station, I have already sped past it. It was a cool concept, racing across the country, just not a lot fun. It limits you to just the races. I loved the free roam in older NFS games. Hopefully, the next one is better.

I am a need for speed fan ive played every single one and this one is by far the worst one of the series. On tv it looks awesome but it really isnt for 1) You cant upgrade anything on the motor or tune. 2) You cant really just get out of your car. 3) when you want to change cars you cant cause you have to wait till you find a gas station. Dont blow your money on this game if you want your moneys worth go with shift shift 2 or prostreet they all are better in every single way

I have been a fan of the NFS franchise for quite some time. This is probably one of the worst games I have ever played and an embarrassment to other NFS titles. While the scenery as you travel from the west coast to the east coast is pretty, it gets somewhat repetitive. You smash into one guard rail or the side of a mountain, you've smashed into them all. The huge issues come when you have played it for more than about 30 minutes. The load screens are ridiculously long, the cars handle like garbage (you will fish tail out of control at even the slowest speeds), the cut scenes interrupt the game play experience in abundance and add nothing to the game whatsoever, and the game plays like the developers were just too lazy to come up with interesting ways to make it challenging in that the AI have cars that are just that little bit faster than you no matter what and you are constantly getting crashed into by traffic and the police. It makes no sense that an innocent bystander, so to speak, would swerve in front of you for absolutely no reason allowing the opposing racers to pass you. There is also the idiotic nuance where you can only change cars at a gas station located on the racing routes. So if you have the wrong car for the course, you either have to deal with it, because their aren't really any upgrades for the vehicles to make them any better, or hope that there is a station to swap out your vehicle. The developers should be ashamed of themselves for this pile of junk!

Garbage

If I could give this game 0 stars I would. First the extremely frustrating idiotic ai the game uses is horrible. The rewind system that you can't choose to turn off or on. The sloppy horrible controls and what else there's no garage to pick what car you want to drive. My nephew played one race that has one of there gas stations on it and changed cars. guess what. It's no gas station on the next horrible checkpoint race so I'm stuck with a Nissan on a rally race that can't beat the timer. Then can't turn off the rewind. Go on the grass? Rewind. Small crash rewind automatically! Then even worse you run out of rewinds. You lose the race. Then wait 10 minutes for the game to load! Race 2 minutes. Wait 5 minutes to load. Was so excited for this game. Got up bright and early to get it to only be tremendously disappointed. EA shame on you for even letting this garbage hit the stores. And with a $60 price tag this is pure robbery. Even more so then the horrible excuse for a story mode that this game attempts to have!
Stay away. No "RUN" away from this latest chapter of a once great series....
Beware of flying pop up ai cars that you guessed it make you crash and are forced to do a rewind. Game was rushed by developers to hit shelfs for black Friday for capital not for consumer enjoyment.

Got it really cheap, worth the $5. Online play is fun but menus are clunky and slow.
Single player story line starts fun, but gets really annoying at times when it's randomly and arbitrarily destroying your car.

This game was fun to play and story line made it interesting. Though I wish the game it self was longer.
