Not Superior, but Equally Funny & Pointed Sequel

Two summers ago we were introduced to Mac (Seth Rogen) and Kelly (Rose Byrne) Miller, a couple who'd just welcomed their first child into the world and purchased their first home in what were natural steps towards adulthood. That seemingly smooth transition was abruptly interrupted when they learned they were actually living next door to a fraternity. Led by incorrigible party guy Teddy Sanders (Zac Efron) the two households went head to head with one another in a war of wits and schemes that once again conveyed the age old lesson of Seth Rogen comedies in that there comes a time in every young man's life when it's time to become a confused man-child. While this interesting, albeit somewhat contrived premise worked wonders the first time proving fertile ground for consistent and interesting comedy, it was such a singular type of event that to make a sequel would seem to automatically cheapen the effect of the first film. Lucky for us, director Nicolas Stoller (Forgetting Sarah Marshall) along with Rogen and longtime writing partner Evan Goldberg as well as Brendan O'Brien and Andrew Jay Cohen have crafted a screenplay that not only allows for this same premise to work again, but also uses this set-up to make legitimate social commentary. Executing comedy successfully is difficult enough, but to on top of that endeavor to actually say something substantial in between your drug jokes is admirable, at the very least. What this comes down to is placing a fledgling sorority (led by the likes of Chloë Grace Moretz, Dope's Kiersey Clemons, and Beanie Feldstein) in the house where Teddy's Delta Psi once resided. In doing this, Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising is able to transform itself from simply giving the Miller's another challenge in sleep deprivation to a film that analyzes the inherent double standards of society by exposing how our system has more or less been cultivated to give males the advantage in the majority of circumstances. The issue of being able to party may be a trivial one, but this is obviously an in to a bigger means and that Neighbors 2 makes you contemplate anything at all is rather impressive.

This is a really funny film, not near as good as the first but can stand on it’s own. Just an enjoyable film. Love the DVD and Digital.

My wife and I saw Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising in theaters when it came out in 2016 . As soon as it was released to DVD, it became part of our home collection. Seth Rogen, Zac Efron and Rose Byrne are at it again, this time versus the local sorority. The movie is about a couple who is looking to sell their home. It seems like the opportune time since the fraternity next door is gone, but enter a new sorority, with Efron as their mentor. Hilarity ensues as Rogen and Bryne go to war against Efron and his adopted sorority. War is declared as Rogen and Bryne find themselves pranking the Sorority and vice versa. It is laugh out loud funny. My wife and I can relate to this style of sarcastic humor. It may seem brash, or crude, but you can't please everyone. Film buffs and critics alike certainly will not enjoy this movie, but if you're just looking for a laugh, I recommend sitting down with a beer and Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising.

Finally watched this the other night... The movie is hilarious. Best Buy had a deal when I bought it, and I am glad I did! Haven't had any issues with the DVD itself. Great buy!

My fiance and I both loved the original " Neighbors," so we were equally excited to see the sequel, bringing back most of our old favorites and introducing some newer young stars. I was equally satisfied with the sequel but for different reasons. I was very happy that this wasn't just a rehashing of the original. Changing it from a fraternity to a sorority was a stroke of genius. Neighbors 2 didn't have the exact same raunchy humor from the original, but made the humor a bit more elevated; a humorous discussion about sexism in the Greek system (and in life). Not to say there were no gross out moments but they were used to make a point about hypocrisy. All in all, I came out of the theater a happy movie goer! My fiance, however, not so much. He thought it was missing the spark from the original. We can agree to disagree.

I found the first neighbors to be an odd combination of comedy and towards the middle turned serious and somewhat frightening. This one carries the comedy through the whole movie. Seth and Rose and expecting their 2nd child and want to move to the suburbs, the want to sell their house and oh no, a sorority movies in where the fraternity used to be. Zac is initially on the girls side but then they ridicule him as being too old so he defects to seth's side to get rid of the girls. This is more fun but also had some very poignant scenes. Dave Franco, for instance. Zac does not want to grow up and his college friends have to make him. I loved this because there was more meat on this old bone and because everyone performed above and beyond. I do recommend this still raunchy type of movie to those that are interested.

Rogen, Byrne, and Efron really interact hilariously together. I get the feeling a lot of the funnier stuff was ad-libed, the script doesn't seem to be all the great, the pacing of in the middle of the movie feels a little off. The flow of the (over time) pranks between the frat and Rogen and Byrne don't seem right, and are a little off. That being said, I found most the rest of the film to be pretty funny. It didn't have the heart of a Apatow movie, but it also isn't bogged down by being 30 minutes too long like most Apatow efforts. Byrne is the real surprise, as she isn't known for being a comedic actress, but does very well here and working off of Rogen and Efron. Efron also deserves a little bit of credit. He's not great, but he's good, and can perhaps develop into a decent actor.

This movie is fun for the family as long as your children are not VERY young. This is primarily due to language and a few adult situations. Not quite as good as the first one but as far as a sequel goes, this one is fun to watch. The main cast members are back. If you enjoyed the first Neighbors movie, you will definitely enjoy this one. Good value as Best Buy has this movie for a reasonable price with Blue Ray/DVD/Digital Download. Purchasing this movie makes much more sense if you will be watching it more than once or want to share with friends and family.

Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising may not be strictly necessary, but it still wrings a surprising amount of humor from a recycled premise with a distaff twist.

I know people are weary of sequels, but I actually thought Neighbors 2 was better than the first Neighbors. It is true that the movie is plagued with typical sequel cliches, but the movie does try to be as original as possible despite this. If you enjoyed the first one, you will probably like this movie as well. My movie arrived in great condition and on time.

Neighbors 2 is a great continuation from the first movie. The comical relief is present through out the movie, but at times a stretch to reality. Overall this is a great movie for one to unwind to, but note you need to see Neighbors first before seeing this continuation or you will not understand some of the comical relief.

If you liked the first one, no reason why you wouldn't enjoy this one. A familiar face returns for a second chance at sorority party's. If you liked hit-girl from the kickass movies, then you get a chance to see her act in a different role in this movie. Over all, its good but the first one was better.

This is exactly what you would expect from Seth Rogan's second outing in the Neighbors franchise. It is funny, but at times a little over the top. Zac Efron plays the same character as he does in every movie (sans Charlie St. Cloud, that actually showed some depth) but funny nonetheless.

If you watched and enjoyed the first Neighbors movie, you will enjoy this one as well. It followed the same basic premise as the first installment, and the cadence was about the same too. Slap stick laughs mixed with raunchy jokes and shock value zingers made this a entertaining sequel.
