Poorly made and expensive coffee
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Completely disappointed with the manufacturer with this specific model of the Nespresso machines. I have had my Vertuo Next Nespresso machine for just two weeks and it is not working properly. There is coffee grounds in my coffee, and after cleaning and attempting to descale there was still coffee grounds coming out of the machine. After spending over an hour on the phone with a representative from Nespresso I was given the options of returning the items and getting my money back or exchanging the machine for a Vertuo Plus. Unfortunately after experiencing the lack of reliability from using the Nespresso machine I will no longer be a customer of Nespresso. For those thinking of trying the Nespresso brand of coffee I highly encourage you to save your money, you’re better off without this.

Quality Espresso at Home
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This stylish looking machine brings some serious variety to your home! The unit can make 5 different size drinks – based specifically on the type of coffee pod used. Each pod has a barcode that tells the machine how to brew the specific beverage. This can range from a 14oz coffee to a 1.35 ounce espresso shot. Operating the unit is simple, put the pod in, close it, press the button. That’s about it. The water canister just pops off and can be filled and put back on. You can also just remove the top and poor water directly into it. After a cup has been brewed, you can open the unit and the used pod is ejected into internal removable “trash can”. It stores about 10 pods before it needs to be dumped out. This package also comes with the Aeroccino 3 milk frother. What a cool little device. It makes both hot and cold foam. It too has an incredibly simple operation. Just pour milk in, press the button for hot foam or hold it for cold. Make note that this machine does not use the classic Nespresso pod. Instead it uses the new Vertuo pod. They tend to be a little more costly but come along with a huge amount of variety. I was pleasantly surprised by the different sizes, flavors, and styles. Price per pod ranges from just under a buck up to $2.00. Free pod recycling and samples with every order too. TLDR: Expect excellent espresso and coffee from this easy to use, well designed, single serving coffee machine.

Morning Delight
||Posted . Owned for 8 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Purchased as a Birthday gift. Brews quite possibly the smoothest, nicest cup of machined coffee/espresso of the automatic bunch. A bit loud (due to the pump/heating element within), but tolerable. Cleaning is easy, but the descaling method could have been better(... not sure why it was not just a separate button function?), so definitely check the YouTube guide over the paper instructions for that. The available flavours are allover the spectrum of taste, plus there are accessories online to brew your own grounds. Add in the Aeroccino3 frothing/cream heater, and this is an absolute delight. Works as specified, but with anything over $100 these days -- buy the Best Buy warranty if you do not want to send it back to the OEM.

Wow amazing coffee machine
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I like the vertuo and the aeroccino 3 set. I've tried many different machines and flavors. So far I like this one best. I've made lattes, cappuccinos and coffee, all tasted great. The instructions were easy to understand since this is my first nespresso machine I read them just to make sure I do everything right. The vertuo and aeroccino 3 were easy to use. The only thing you need are recipes when you want to make a latte or cappuccino, that was the only the possibly slightly complicated thing. If your good at following the recipe it shouldn't be a problem, since it wasn't for me. I would put milk in the aeroccino 3 press the button and it would do its thing, put enough water in the tank, then I insert the pod into the vertuo close and lock it, then press the button have the mug ready and then follow the recipe and bam a tasty latte. I unlock the vertuo the pod is then lifted up and put in bin that's inside the unit. I dont have to touch the hot used pod. Open the side and there's the used pod . Dump the used pod, rinse the bin, and put It back in. Another cool feature is once there is an update you will be able to update the vertuo using your phone, so if there's a new pod aka new flavor it will be able to read it. Basically future proof.i would definitely recommend anyone who loves coffee to go and buy this set ASAP.

My house smells like a high-end coffee shop
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am not one who usually buys fancy coffee drinks at coffee shops. However, after using the Nespresso Vertuo Next, I feel like a barista! The machine is super easy to use- it is ready to use out of the box. They send a box of sample coffee pods to try (this does not take the usual Nespresso pods- these look like little domes). The pods have a bar code so the machine knows how much water to brew- you don't have to select a drink size. The smell, when the coffee is brewing, is AMAZING! It only takes a minute or so. I usually drink my coffee black but I had to try the milk frother. OMG! This is my favorite part of the whole ensemble. I have attached pictures of the frothy deliciousness. It will froth both hot and cold! I frothed some caramel creamer for my iced coffee. The almond cream did not froth as airy as regular milk but it was great in my iced drink. Overall, I think I have really stepped up my coffee game. No more plain black coffee for me! The ability to make high-quality coffee drinks at home in a few minutes for a fraction of the cost is a win for me!

A solid capsule coffee system
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have used Nespresso machines from time to time during my travels to Europe and the UK. I always thought it was a good mainstream home espresso pod brewer. When I had the opportunity to select the newer Vertuo Next system through the Best Buy TIN program, I quickly decided to try it. The Vertuo system expands the Nespresso from espresso only to espresso and coffee in sizes ranging from 1.35 oz to 14 oz servings. The size is determined by the size and the volume of content in the capsule. The bar code on the underside of the rim of the capsule allows the brewer to identify the beverage and adjust the brew cycle parameters to match and optimize the beverage. You can read all about the systems on the Nespresso web site. My first impression was with the packaging. I was very pleased to see there is no foam packing material and there is even a paper handle rather than the usual plastic handle on the retail box. It was very easy to get the brewer and frother out of the box and I can recycle the whole thing. While setting up the brewer, I discovered one small crack at the top of my water reservoir. Fortunately it is in a spot that doesn’t matter for the machine function and is out of sight. So I haven’t needed or tried to seek a replacement yet. The instructions call for setting up the WiFi connection first which is unfortunate since it isn’t used for much and seems to be temperamental at best. I was able to get it connected, but the next day it complained about being disconnected and I couldn’t get it connected with normal actions. I didn’t try to rerun the setup. To be clear, I have just replaced my networks at my homes with more sophisticated components. I have full coverage, over 70 devices on my network and I’m a retired IT professional. So, skill was not the issue. But you don’t need the WiFI connection in any way to use the brewer. It is currently a distraction and unfortunate detractor from Nespresso’s image for this brewer. Next is an easy cleaning cycle that requires a larger vessel to catch the water. I used a large measuring cup. The cleaning cycle goes through several cycles... pumping up pressure and dispensing out the spout. While it was cleaning, I studied the sample coffees that came with the brewer. The sample pack looks like pool balls or Christmas tree ornaments. They appear to use a different color for every beverage. I guess once you know the color of your favorite, that works ok. It seems overwhelming at first. But any system that offers a good selection variety will seem overwhelming at the beginning. Brewing espresso or coffee is very easy. Open the top of the capsule compartment, drop in your capsule, close the top and move the handle to the lock position. Then press the button. The Keurig is a bit easier because the lock motion is an extension of the downward force needed to close (or open) the capsule compartment. This lock is easier with two hands (one to push down and one to slide the lever to the left), but feels very secure. I assume (but do not know) this brewing system uses higher pressure than a Keurig system. I’ve read that the Vertuo does not use the same 19 bar pressure as the original Nespresso brewer. Some aficionados appear to complain about that. I don’t know the strict definition of espresso, so I can’t say for sure if the Vertuo produces true espresso or an espresso like drink. The brew cycle involves quick a few sounds. I gather that one sound is the capsule spinning around at various points in the brew cycle. Another sound is the pressure pump. Then, of course, the sound of the coffee itself being dispensed. Some people have complained about the noise. I did a side by side comparison with this Breville and a Keurig 2.0 brewer. I used the NIOSH sound level meter iOS app to measure the dB of sound. The two brewers are just about equal, so I’d say it isn’t horrible, but both are not exactly stealth brewing methods. When you open the brewer, two spring loaded rails lift the capsule out and deliver it to a bin in the rear of the brewer. The bin can be removed on the left side for emptying. The coffee is a little “dirtier” than a filtered coffee, but some people absolutely prefer that taste profile, so it is personal preference. I like them equally well. The coffee is also nice and hot. The frother that comes in this model kit, works very well in my brief experience. The “instructions” are horrible...and mostly safety warnings. There are cryptic illustrations that I had to stare at for a few minutes to figure out. If you have to dedicate 90% of a booklet to multiple languages, you may as well tell everyone in those languages how to use and care for the device instead of keeping everyone scratching their heads trying to figure out what the heck that illustration is trying to convey. The point is to inform people who don’t already know how it works...do some usability testing, please. However, the frother itself seems really nice! Pour in some skim milk and press the button. It seems like a really neat design. The magnetically coupled heating element spins around and creates great froth. Overall, my first impression is very positive. I’ve ordered a bunch more capsules to continue doing my side by side evaluation. I really like the recycling aspect of the Nespresso capsules. Nespresso provides a postage free bag upon request just like HP does for empty ink (and toner) cartridges rather than having the consumer rely on the local recycling capabilities. ....several days later.. My capsule order arrived. The sleeves are very attractive and fit well on the shelf of an upper cabinet. The recycling bag I ordered was just in time to empty my capsule bin. When I dumped the bin, I discovered there are two parts. The top section holds the capsules and allows drainage into the bottom. The bottom bin holds any liquid that drips out of the capsules. When I dumped the capsules into the mailer bag, I dumped coffee water all over the floor. I’ll be more careful the next time, but this seems to be a design flaw. Overall, I like the Vertuo Next brewer and the beverages it produces. I like the recycling model Nespresso uses for the capsules. It is a very solid capsule coffee system. I withheld one star. The water reservoir could be a bit small if you use the larger capsules and mine was cracked. The spent capsule bin can dump old coffee on your floor if you are not careful. The WiFi feature seems like a distraction at this point.

Perfect Quality Coffee at the Push of a Button
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was first introduced to the Nespresso Coffee Maker when my employer installed one in our office several years ago. I loved the coffee, but the jet engine sound put me off. However, I jumped at the opportunity to have the new Nespresso Vertuo NEXT coffee & espresso maker with an Aeroccino milk frothier. I'm pleased with my decision. The unpacking and setup of the machine were simple. Two outlets are needed - one for the coffee maker and one for the milk frothier. The machine has a 37-ounce water tank. The frothier can hold enough froth for two cups of coffee. A box of one dozen coffee pods with a sample mix of coffee comes with the machine. The Nespresso is the most straightforward coffee maker ever. The coffee pods have a unique barcode under the lip, which identifies the coffee type and how much to make. The steps for making a cup of coffee are: • Make sure there is enough water in the tank. • Insert the cup holder base into a slot in the front of the machine for the appropriate cup size. • Place the coffee cup on the base. • Open the lid of the machine by moving the top handle to the unlocked position. • Select the desired coffee pod and place it into the top of the machine. • Close the lid and move the top handle to the locked position. • The top light will blink while the machine is heating up. Once the light is solid push the button. • The machine will pour the hot coffee into the cup. A built-in Centrifusion technology will brew and prepare the coffee in the right manner for the type of coffee in the pod. • Normally, the coffee will stop at the right level for the type of coffee. However, you can stop the flow of coffee by pressing the top button once. This will also program the machine to use the same amount the next time you brew a cup with the same type of coffee pod. • When the coffee is done brewing, remove your cup and unlock the top. The used coffee pod will automatically eject into the used pod container. • Drink your smooth cup of coffee! The Aeroccino milk frothier can froth cold or hot milk. A frothing spring inside will spin to froth the milk. A single button push will froth and heat the milk. The button will turn red till the frothing is done, a little over a minute. Holding the button in for two seconds will froth cold milk. The button will turn blue till the frothing is done. The frothing cup can be removed from the base for easy cleaning. The frothing spring is magnetically held in the cup and can easily be removed for cleaning. The Nespresso Coffee comes from over 100,000 independent farmers and is sealed into specific aluminum capsules/pods. The pods are color-coded for easy visual identification, and the bottom of the pods show the blend and size. A barcode around the bottom lip of the pod tells the Nespresso machine what type of coffee to make and how much. A freely downloadable Nespresso application is available for Android and Apple smartphones. The app can be paired with the machine via Bluetooth for updating the programming for future coffee capsules as they come out. The app can also be used for ordering coffee, buying accessories, locating outlets, and locating recycling drop points (UPS). Pros • Very simple to use. • The machine remembers the coffee level specific to the coffee pod type. • Aeroccino frothier cup and spring are easy to clean. • Coffee pods automatically drop into a used pod container. • Centrifusion Technology brews a smooth coffee per the type of coffee pod. • Easy to brew regular coffee, espresso, cappuccino, and lattes. • Currently 30 different blends of coffee. • Used pods can be recycled by dropping off at any UPS location. • A Nespresso application for Android and Apple smartphones is available for ordering and updating the machine's programming for new coffee capsules when they come out. • Always produces a smooth, quality cup of coffee. Cons • Still has that jet engine sound when brewing, but is quieter than the older models. • Only uses the Nespresso brand of coffee capsules. Overall, I am pleased with the Nespresso Vertuo NEXT coffee machine and the included Aeroccino3 milk frothier. I always know that I'm going to get a great cup of coffee regardless of the type and size I want. And it is just plain easy. I don't have to measure grounds or do any preparation. Just insert the pod and push the button! Which is usually all I can handle first thing in the morning.

Amazing coffee machine—but expensive cups.
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Full disclosure—I’ve never owned any other Nespresso machines so my main knowledge for comparison is the popular K branded machines in terms of premium coffee. In addition, traditional coffee makers and instant coffees. That said, I am an aficionado of coffee but wouldn’t consider myself a connoisseur of all things coffee. Overall—The Nespresso Vertuo Next is a sure-fire way to get gourmet coffee from a convenient machine. It preps a decent sized mug within several minutes (approx 3) and whisks milk in approx 1 minute to a foamy consistency. The initial setup is more or less simple with the biggest hurdle being app connection (more on that below). Clean up is simple enough but based on other mentions descaling can be an issue, I’ve yet crossed that road to further comment after a week of use. Design—The overall design is simplistic and to the point. One of the biggest problems I see, and even through daily cleanings, the ring around the head (the component that pierces each cup and pushes water into your mug) quickly becomes dirty of stains and leftover coffee. Even with daily cleanings by using the self-clean feature and wiping down the upper section of the head the result is the same. From my experience, used coffee tends to mold even when you run hot water through it. So if that coffee at any time gets stuck in a further, unreachable crevice, your next cup may include mold. For additional context, I’ve included an image of a used coffee pod. Water is injected through the center hole and flushes out through the pierced ring around it. It’s then cycled through the head and siphoned into an outlet further up above the visible surface of the head unit to be dispensed into your cup. It is this area above that could possibly hold traces of coffee as I’ve found traces around the piercing ring. By comparison with the other aforementioned “premium coffee brewer”. The Nespresso seems to have a healthier design as the water is never forced through the plastic of the pod like the other unit. That process has been singled out as a method that adds contaminants from the plastic into your coffee. Additionally, from a personal level, my next biggest gripe is the inclusion of the ejection bin/system. From an observational standpoint, those extra 3 inches the bin takes up doesn’t serve any other purpose, at least not from an engineering standpoint. There doesn’t appear to be any present systematic components embedded in the machine in those extra 3 inches. Both the heating unit and pump seem to reside around the head. Do note, I did not break the unit down to determine these components. It’s an observational estimation based on the heat build-up and whining sound the machine creates during warmup/closure of the lid. With everything said, I am not docking any stars for a “personal gripe”. Performance—As mentioned above, crafting a cup of coffee is relatively quick, 5 min tops. The actual coffee that comes out, in terms of taste, is extremely well. The only issue to mention in this area is the pairing method with the app. While unboxing, I tried to pair with the app and the method outlined in the manual didn’t work for me. But after several unsuccessful pairing attempts, the machine finally paired with the app. Other thoughts—Nestle is seemingly committed to a green, sustainable business model. From responsible sourcing of coffee to Its pods disposal/recycling program. The product itself is said to be manufactured using a high percentage of recycled materials. The actual packaging, which states is 95% recycled material, is fairly flimsy and tells is actually made from those recyclables. Those are good marks in my opinion but needs a little more transparency in terms of its pod's recycling. Currently, there isn’t any such information available regarding how much actually gets recycled. On another note, pods, regardless of retailer run roughly $1.00ea. This is somewhat pricey considering traditional brewer grounds run several cents per cup. Conclusion—With everything mentioned, the machine works flawlessly. If however, you reside in an area with hard water your experience may differ as descaling, from a brief search, can result after as little as 3 cups brewed. In all situations, it is in your best interest to follow the machine's instructions and only use filtered clean, cool water. Tap and hot water may contain small traces of minerals and other contaminants which may cause your machine to need more frequent cleanings. The issues with machine to app connectivity could be a minor caveat, especially for those that purchase products with the expectation that it works out of the box.

bold espresso-like coffee
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Full disclosure, I received this unit for free to test and review. This review is coming from the type of coffee drinker that is primarily in it for the morning boost and as a experience second, with flavor a big bonus along the way. If that is something you share then I think you'll enjoy this machine. If you are looking for a true espresso experience or something with coffeehouse authenticity then this isn't the machine for you. This machine makes drinks from a pod and not a compressed puck of ground coffee. Minus a half star for the frustrating experience trying to connect this to Bluetooth and WiFi. I tried 3 devices and all three found the device but were unable to pair with it. So if there are future firmware updates unfortunately I will be without them until I can find a solution. Luckily everything after the failed phone pairing went smooth. Ran the initial cleaning cycle and encountered no further issues. Opening/ closing and locking/unlocking takes a bit getting used to. I have another pod based coffee machine and that one opens straight up and there's a bit of pressure as the machine punctures the pod and closes in place. As you close the Nespresso you don't close it all the way down to clamp in place. After you lower the top down you then have to slide the lever into a locked position that both clamps the top down and punctures the pod. It felt a bit strange at first because of the resistance going side to side, almost like if something was about to break. I like that you don't have to select a cup size. Each type of pod has a specific bar code the machine reads to produce anything from a single shot of espresso(1.35 oz) all the way to alto(14 oz) sized cups depending on what pod you have chosen. So once you warmed the machine and inserted the pod it's a one button machine. The big gripe for me with my other pod based machine is that the coffee was never strong enough for my liking. I even tried the strongest pods I could find (even the death wish brand). Even using my own reusable pod I had to fill and brew two small pods for one decent cup of coffee, taking much of the convenience and time saving out of it. I don't have that issue with the Nespresso. The stronger side of the sample pods gave me enough of a boost to feel alert in the morning. Opinions on taste will vary but I could definitely taste the dark boldness of the stronger cups. Especially in the crema. Speaking of crema, taking a look at the pictures I've attached you can see that this crema has a lot of air bubbles in in. It isn't smooth and it's very much looks like a bad meringue from a pie. It doesn't effect the taste but you will feel it in the texture as you drink it, particularly if you let it sit for a while. Minus a half star for the look of it. The Aeroccino is amazing. I didn't think i'd like it as much as I would have. I use almond milk with a bit of flavored creamer and it taste amazingly good frothed up hot or cold. Very easy to use and clean seeing how it's a separate device. A big highlight of the Nespresso machine that I can't un-use on my coffee. This is my preferred pod based coffee machine to use. Easy enough for everyday use and strong enough to get me through my morning, even if the crema is a bit unappealing. The Vertuo pods are more expensive than my other pod machine and from what I've seen are only available online, but personally I find that extra price to be worth it to me based on the flavor and strength of the coffee. I don't have to use two pods for one decently strong cup of coffee like the other machine.

Simple, Flavorful Coffee
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. As a young adult who casually drinks coffee from Starbucks, I wanted something that could help me make great coffee from home while being cheaper than coffee chain prices. Voila, the Nespresso Vertuo Next comes in. Although small in size, it can pack great flavors through the mighty selection of their recyclable pods. Albeit as i mentioned before, I don't drink coffee much but this device makes it nice when I do. DESIGN Coming in hard plastic (with some parts being full metal) and an acrylic type water storage container, it looks nice and is sturdy. Two things I particularly liked about the Nespresso Vertuo Next's design was the milk frother being separate and the small trash compartment inside the coffee maker. Having the milk frother separate from the Nespresso coffee making machine is nice and keeps it in a small profile. When replacing the small coffee pods, a neat feature is that as you pull open the coffee pod hatch in the coffee maker, if you previously had a pod in it, it'll flip the old pod in to small trash bin located in the coffee maker. Pretty cool! It feels like Nespresso really maximized what they could do with the size and used up a relatively small amount of space compared to similar competitor coffee device makers. USE Having many different flavors along with the amount of coffee you would like to end up in your cup, the Nespresso pods vary. From expressos, cappuccinos, lattes, and more, there are many flavor profiles to choose from. It is as simple as choosing your Nespresso pod, turning open the coffee maker, turning and locking it shut, and in about 40 seconds, your coffee is done! Add another 60 to 80 seconds if you want your milk frothed as well. Overall it was very simple to use and setup. Two side notes I would like to add: Nespresso recommends to turn the Vertuo Next on and run the coffee making sequence up to 3 times before your making your first coffee. Second, Nespresso can recycle your old pods. You're able to request from them a shippable pouch that you can put your old pods in and drop off at a USPS shipping location free of charge. Pretty nice! Overall, after owning a different company's coffee maker, I wasn't sure how I would like the Nespresso Vertuo Next. After trying it and using their milk frother, I can see myself ordering less from coffee stores and making more coffee at home. I'm saying hello to less tired mornings!

||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Very good machine and the coffee quality is great and it produces tasty and smooth coffee. Simple and fun to use, the frother accessory is great as well. The pods are a bit spendy but there is a kit you can buy to make your own pods with any coffee. All in all, I dig the machine and would recommend it. Only reason I am not giving a 5 Star review is that I have had to do a factory reset on it twice already in the first 6 weeks Ive owned it. Electronically it is a slight bit “quirky “

Great so far
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So far, so good! Makes an excellent cup of coffee, with a nice, creamy foam. The design is a little more compact vs. the regular vertuo, but with the tank in the back, you will need more room lengthwise for this one. We have had a couple of instances where the light was flashing while running and it wouldn’t stop running, but I think the unit needs descaling since we have had it for about 2 months and use it multiple times per day. Will see if that eliminates that occasional issue. Otherwise, no problems thus far.
