Great purchase for peace of mind. . I design commercial integrated security solutions including fire alarms and love the ease of use and integration with the drop cam camera. When you add all of the feature/benefits up it does come close to the upgrade in price over a standard smoke detector.

These smoke and CO detectors are easy to setup and install. I used an iPad to do it. I used the pure battery version. The batteries are the Energizer Lithium, so expect to spend so serious coin to replace them. Sam's carries bulk packs at a steep discount. The batteries are supposed to last years. They only connect to the WiFi occasionally, if your timeout and activity setting in your router are short, you will use up the batteries much faster. They transmit data about once a day. Over the course of about three months, all the units upgraded their shipped software version to the latest for the unit. There are more features in the later versions. One nice feature is the ability to detect shower steam, as "not smoke". They have color lights, so you can tell what kind of alarm is going off. They also have a night light capability that is motion activated. They are loud. In the tests, they are not perfectly syncronized, but they all go off pretty close together. Nice unit.

I am so pleased with this product. It gives me piece of mind to know I will be alerted if there is a problem in my home that could affect my pets. Fabulous packaging (none of that God awful hard plastic to contend with). Intuitive design. Easy installation. Unless I am missing something, it would be nice if you could test the device from the phone rather than getting on a ladder. Other than that minor drawback, I think it is great.

This product has exceeded my expectation. From opening the box the setting it up, the Nest thermostat is enjoyable to set up. It's an easy home upgrade that gives you peace of mind while away from your house with he ability to get alert on your cell phone through their app.

Easy to setup, installed where my old smoke detector was (used the same mounting holes with the new screws provided) and works as expected. Though it's not that bright (as intended), ring lights up white as a night light when you're walking by it at night.

This product adds a human voice to a loud alarm, but it makes a difference between awareness and panic. I like that it works with the thermostat to be a little more aware of when we are home or away.

Purchased one for the stairway in the house, and felt so safe with it when we were away, that we purchased a few more for the basement and 2nd floor. Set up is easy and the notifications you get in case of any changes make us feel better when going out.

I purchased the battery powered version of this Nest Protect smoke detector. I'm very happy with it and the alarms from when I occasionally burn dinner in the kitchen are much more pleasant, yet somehow probably more effective. The only thing I wish is that the battery version would tell my Nest thermostat that I am home more frequently. The wired version is apparently really good at this, but with the battery version it only checks every now and then.

This is a user friendly device that helps with electric savings! The feature I love most is how you can control from your smart phone. If I leave town and forget to turn down the heat or turn on the air, I can do it remotely.

This beautiful little box is worth the upgrade from the old simple smoke detectors of day past. Simple, yet elegant. Makes basic home safety easy to install and use.

Design and features make the nest protect worth it. Sure it's just a smoke and CO2 detector but it looks nice and the night light feature is cool. I love how it looks all high tech in my old farmhouse!

I already had the NEST thermostat and I bought 2 of these guys to put in m new house because I really just wanted to have a calm mind knowing that if I'm NOT home...I'll know if there are any problems.

I have purchased 3 Nest products and all of them do exactly what they are suppose to. Set up is very easy and one app to control them all is great. I will be purchasing more Nest products in the future

Love this! Finally someone reinvents the most annoying home safety device. The Nest is great! You will love it and no more need to get the broom out to knock it off the ceiling

The Nest was easy to install and instructions were easy to follow. I've had no problems since installed, and love to be able to check the status of the detectors remotely.

My first network home item. I like the functionality of connected items. I actually know when the batteries are really dead and there is no annoying beeps in the night.

The monitors were easy to install and easy to sync with my cellphone. The night light feature is a bit weak, but I have tall ceilings, so that might be the reason.

Start up was easy and the product looks cool. Thankfully I have not had it go off on me but the testing was clear and loud enough for the whole house to hear.

Nest is my number one choice for smoke detectors and CO2, easy to install and you can use your phone to set up and monitor your home

It works great, with a loud alarm. It also looks good while not standing out too much. The night light feature is also pretty nice.
