Better than I expected for an entry-level device

I needed a range extender to get a 2.4 ghz wifi signal into a metal-cased low voltage transformer on the other side of my kitchen's exterior wall. It was a job that I expected my nearby Ubiquiti access point to handle, but it wasn't up to the task. I was ready to do without a wifi-controlled switch for my backyard lighting when I decided to find a cheap wifi extender as a last-ditch experiment. This one was the least expensive one that I found at Best Buy. After some discussion with the salesperson, I concluded this might be all that I needed. I mounted it on an outlet on a kitchen counter and fired it up. Because it is small white box, it's unobtrusive there. In fact, it's barely noticeable. When I went outside to program the transformer's timer, not immediately found the extender's SSID and joined my LAN. It hasn't skipped a beat since. In addition to the one job that I asked it to do, the extender sends a signal well into my backyard. I wouldn't use it to stream hi res video, but it is usable by phones and tablets out on the deck. Now that I have reliable internet in the backyard, my next grill will be wifi-controlled.

Solid wi-fi extender with a headache included

Straight to business. The instructions for MY setup process did not work and the booklet included is outdated. Someone named "bestbuyster" reviewed this same product and suggested a solution that worked for me so Im just passing the word and shoutout to that guy. "If you have an older router, the IP number of the extender is 192.168.1.250 (WHICH IS NOT IN THE MANUAL). Once you get past that hurdle the set up is a breeze." My actual review: Ive never used a wi-fi extender until this one and I had to buy one because my modem router could not reach my ring camera in the living room. For what is and the price I have to recommend it because it Just works as its supposed to after the headache of a setup. I haven't had issues with is since and its great. The size is nice too because it doesn't fully block the second outlet in the wall. The setup is easy but definitely try that IP number if your having issues.

Works as it should. The layout of my house somehow creates signal issues at one end of it. Installed halfway between and signal strength is better. I would definitely recommend this product if you are in a similar situation. The only downside would be the setup. It can be tasking to get this product logged into your current WiFi directions and process could use some improvement.

Like the title says, it does its job. Setup was super easy, anyone could do it. Actual speed seems good so far, but my only issue with this was the strength going through a wall. But I guess that’s what it is with this price point, so I’m happy with it. Small, simple and easy to use.

The Netgear wi-fi extender did exactly what I needed in order to have the wi-fi signal reach some dead areas. It is very easy to setup and it provides 2G and 5G outputs in addition to the original wi-fi signal. You can also continue to use the same passwod as the original wi-fi

Works well for the price, ~$40. I personally use this in my house and set one up for my parents. The instructions are easy to follow, but I'd advise people to use a tablet or laptop instead of your phone to set it up. I had trouble both times with androids (multiple brands). I would expect it to expand your wifi range about 30 to 50 more feet depending on your wall material.

This Netgear Extender was fairly easy to set up, and has operated perfectly from the moment it was activated. So at least a few weeks in, this item is doing the job much better than the piece of crap from Linksys it replaced. And was much cheaper than Linksys support wanted to charge me to remotely "clean" my computer of unwanted hitchhikers on my wifi that barely reached from the office to the living room. Give me a break.

works really well and was very simple to set up. I read alot of reviews of extenders that were hard to set up. This was done in less than 5 minutes and i am far from a tech guy. If i can do it anyone can.

Im a graphic artist and have little time for unreliable technology. I am exceptionally pleased with this purchase. It took only moments to set up. For those users who have an existing wifi router I recommend the WPS method. It takes just a little bit of work to sign in each mobile device. Once that is done you're good to go. Im considering buying another the other side of the house. Well done Netgear !

One of the less expensive Wi-Fi extenders we found at Best Buy but it does the trick. We had spotty, lagging Wi-Fi on our back porch and kept having to go inside to improve signal. We no longer need to do that. This NETGEAR extender has made life a little easier. We no longer need to leave our porch when needing Wi-Fi.

The Netgear Dual Band WiFi Range Extender is an exceptional device that has significantly improved my wireless network's reach and reliability. Its dual-band functionality seamlessly integrates with both 2.4GHz and 5GHz networks, ensuring a versatile and robust connection throughout my home. The setup was a breeze, thanks to the user-friendly Netgear app, which guided me to the best location for maximum coverage. The improvement in WiFi signal strength is remarkable, especially in previously weak signal areas, making it a game-changer for larger homes or buildings with challenging layouts. While the speed enhancement is more noticeable on the 5GHz band, the overall performance across both bands is impressive. The inclusion of an Ethernet port is a thoughtful touch for those needing wired connections. In summary, this extender is a standout product for anyone looking to eliminate WiFi dead zones and enjoy a consistently strong wireless connection.

Got this in an attempt to get wifi signal for outside in my yard for a party I was having, and it worked (3 bars, used to be one or none) but the signal itself kept cutting out during music playback. And inside, where the signal was usually stronger, I kept getting randomly disconnected on TV and laptop. Party came and went, didn’t really need to deal with the connection issues inside so I stopped using. Resetting modem didn’t solve it. Won’t return it because I may need it again when I move.
