Best Purchase to be Free of Xfinity Rental Fees

When I finally decided to give up my Xfinity Voice and no longer needed to rent their proprietary voice gateway with subpar wifi, I started to do research for top-of-the-line cable modems and top-of-the-line wifi routers. The CM1000 is DOCSIS 3.1-certified, is supported by Xfinity, and will support up to gigabit ethernet. Setting it up with Xfinity was pretty painless. Haven't had a problem with it ever since I bought it. And now that I no longer have to pay that damned equipment rental fee, it will pay for itself over time. Must buy if you're an Xfinity customer! Caveat Emptor: If you have Xfinity Voice, the CM1000 WILL NOT support your voice service. Additionally, realize that the CM1000 is purely a cable modem and has no integrated wireless router.

We wanted to replace our modem router with a better unit then the one we have. This unit seems to be the right one for the right price was easy to install and it’s working really nice with all the different Wi-Fi units we have in the house. Purchased online with the easy pick up at our local store.

Many ISPs haven't gone up to Docsis 3.1 but this is backwards compatible making it future. This modem has 32 downstream and 8 upstream channels which is far above from what ive seen so far currently RCN requires 24 channels down and 8 upstream where as xfinity has yet to make the jump in most areas. This however is xfinity approved so you know its coming. There was a small issue upon installation but not to worry those are expected regardless of brand although i was surprised to find out netgear was little to no help regardless of the 90 day support printed on the box. If you have an issue as i did where it causes you to reboot the modem every 12 to 24 hours i would suggest calling your ISP and asking them to provision your modem after you perform a factory reset, this can clear a corrupt config file. The bottom of the modem has a http address with helpful features.

I had the same model prior to purchasing this unit. My last one went out on me so I got the same one again. By far the best modem I have had. Saves me from renting one AND I get FASTER speeds then rented ones. Super easy to set up and running with in 5min of taking it out of the box. Definitely recommend this modem if you are in the market!

    The best Modem for Fiber!

We have Comcast Fiber and this thing works like a beast! I get 930 Down and 43 Up. I also have an Asus 270H mobo. My roommate currently gets 43 up and only 240 down, we think this may be because his mobo is a 170 and although the LAN's driver is up to date, it may not be able to keep up with that speed. VERY VERY easy to set up. Just follow the instructions.

Recently, I had moved and was forced to give up fiber speeds of 1000mbps up and down. The only provider is Comcast in my area, so I was forced into purchasing this and their 1000mbps plan. It works well after some adjustments, however upload speeds are not that great. Think that's my ISP however. Matched it with a nighthawk x10 and works smoothly throughout my house.

My cable connection has always been subpar in the SNR and downstream power levels but my Netgear CM1000 was up to the task and delivered a reliable connection day-afer-day. One important behavior to note is that it has plenty of ventilation and runs much cooler than other brands I tried. I have had no issues at all with it and it synchs up fine with 32 downstream and 5 upstream channels along with the ODFM channel to reliably provide my full subscription bandwidth.

I am not a techy. I wanted a modem that would satisfy download and upload speeds for the foreseeable future. I wanted a modem that was already well received from other purchasers. I wanted a fair price and I wanted a modem which had a straightforward setup. The Netgear CM1000 delivers. I am more than satisfied and wholeheartedly recommend it.

Wow, fast modem. It will handle pretty much anything you need. If you have a static IP address with Sparklight you will need to get one that is wireless but other than that, it's a great buy. Maybe the "Best Buy" ;-)

There's not much to say... This modem does what it says it will do. Speeds are excellent. Installation is easy. Activation is fairly painless (provided you get a savvy service rep when calling your ISP). Best of all: the lights on the face aren't obscenely bright (a common complaint with a competing modem).

If you don't want to rent a cable modem from your provider and like having a separate router this will get the job done. I was surprised at Netgear's quality on this I always used to buy the surfboard modems but this one works great right out of the box. I was even able to register it with Xfinity through their website rather than having to call. Best part about The purchase for me was that I had an older modem that only did DOCIS 3.0 so upgrading to a 3.1 modem actually gave me the speeds I'm paying for which is between 400 and 500 down I do wish it was a bit less expensive but worth it for a trouble free device.

I was on the fence on buying this modem to replace an older Motorola as Netgear doesn't have the best rep in technology, but this modem works great. The set up was easy and the throughput is amazing. If you're on the fence about doing DOCSIS 3.0 or spending the money for 3.1, buy the 3.1

After experiencing a sudden death of my 2-year old modem, I went searching for a stable modem with a good reputation. And I found it! With a number of devices accessing the wireless router, I needed a stable modem to keep everything running. Set up was easy and straight forward. I couldn't be more happy with the performance of this Netgear modem.

Great DOCSIS 3.1 cable modem. Speeds are good. Looks stylish. Nothing much you can really say as long as it works. The price is a big factor in its value, much cheaper than the surfboard. Doesn't have the 2.5 Gbps capability though.
