Great product when it works, but good luck working with Netgear if it does not. Access to the gateway is often hindered by their push for the nighthawk app. If you are having connectivity issues (dropping, etc.) it makes this app nearly useless.
My main issue is that my 5ghz band works fine for about 30 minutes on, 2 off. The 2.4ghz band does not work at all despite its SSID showing up on devices.
Factory resetting does not fix this issue nor does changing the SSID/password/channel combination. I have tried changing to static IPs to no avail.
The largest problem with all of this is Netgear’s shady warranty practices. Despite the hardware still being covered, they would not do a check on it without first buying their premium software support package. Additionally, getting into contact with support in the first place is extremely difficult. They block out the phone number on the nighthawk app unless you pay for their premium subscription. Finding the support number on the official website is also a tedious process. All in all, I’ve spent quite a number of hours troubleshooting this router and contacting Netgear.
As someone with some internetworking background, I am appalled by Netgear’s shady practices and lack of support. I do not usually write reviews, but this situation has been utterly ridiculous.

I've had this for a month. I purchased it because I wanted something that worked with Time Warner and have had no issues.

I didn't want to pay for a cable modem so I bought this one. After researching this and others I felt like this was the best item for me. I'm glad I did choose this one because I haven't had many issues at all. The couple issues I had, all I had to do is unplug then plug back in and it was solved

This is very high powered, and may be more than what we needed. However, it works well with all of our video appliances.

Works great. Easy to set up. You have to change the password (which is a good thing) to get it to work. Very important for security. Follow the simple set up instructions and you can't go wrong. Saves us $10 a month not having to rent one from Comcast.

I've had this unit for almost 2 months. All I have to say it works as advertised. Set up was so easy. I had to call comcast xfinity to have it added to my account. Took less than 5 minutes to have it activated. Haven't had a single issue. Now I'm saving money with this unit not paying rental fee. And it has a long range.

I went to the store looking to purchase an extender for the modem I was renting from the cable company. I had been having issues and the cable company couldn't resolve it. An BB associate approached me and I told him what the issue was. He recommended purchasing this project versus the extender and I'm very happy with the purchase.

I had been renting a cable modem for years. I did a ton of research, and this was the best one I saw for the money. It works so much faster than the one I was paying $14/ month to rent. I have had it for a few months with zero issues. I would highly recommend this product.

I was looking for a modem to buy to replace my comcast rental fee and nervously bought this as my first owned modem. I was worried it might not be as great as my comcast one but so far it has exceeded expectations. I actually received a better score on speedtest and set it up within minutes. So far so good.

Upgraded because my TV and internet provider said I wouldn't be able to get the full experience of what they were providing without a DOCSIS 3.0 modem,- and to avoid having to pay monthly rental of the modem they were providing. Had a separate Linksys modem and Linksys router originally which were perfectly fine. This Netgear device is now a modem and router combined. Can't tell much difference between the two.
If you don't know what you're needs are, always ask the sales rep. The type of modem/router you buy should correspond to the number of devices that require it,- TVs, cellphones, alarm systems, tablets, PCs...and the size of your home should also be considered.

I'm with Comcast and I used to use their router but WiFi speed wasn't fast or range didn't cover my whole house so I had to use WiFi extention however since I switched this one speed got faster and WiFi range is wide enough don't need to use wifi extention anymore. Plus I'm saving $10 per month for rental fee.
