My old laptop wifi adapter has not been working for many years and I had to resort to using an ethernet cable to connect to a router to surf the internet. However, this usb netgear network adapter was easy to setup to connect to our Eero from Hawaiian Telcom at speeds of about 450 Mbps to 600 Mbps upload and download speed far from the router via wifi. The A6150 has up to Gigabit ethernet connections without the cable. Therefore, it is great to have as an alternative to the ethernet cable or if your wifi hardware on your laptop is not functioning. Amazing speed and small package so not as noticeable when plugged in.

Considering that the antenna and electronics are all contained in this tiny package, it's amazing that the performance is so good. It acquires both 2.4 and 5 GHz bands and installation was quite simple. I'm using it to upgrade the WiFi receiver (only b+n) on an old Acer Netbook running Windows XP, and does the job with a hardly noticeable black USB body that I can leave in all the time.

Device is very small, compact and movable. I’ve had no issues with it and it is mostly flush with the system. I’ve not had a snag on anything yet. Sometimes I leave it in the laptop. As my computers WiFi chip was fried in someway reason for purchase and it does its job fine.

    Good for Laptop Upgrade

Bought this to upgrade my wife's laptop from 802.11n to 802.11ac (WIFI 5). Works well and small size means she can just leave it in the USB port all the time. An adapter with a larger antenna might provide more range, but it would be more awkward to have sticking out of the laptop. Small blue LED on device shows when data is being transferred. Easy to install, but if you're updating a computer with a built adapter you need to disable the old adapter (Netgear's instructions do no include this step). In Windows 10 go to Network Settings, bring up the page that shows the adapters. Right click on the old adapter and choose Disable.

    Fixed Laptop Audio Problem

Running a Toshiba Satellite A665-S6050 with an Intel Core i3 processor. After upgrading from Windows 7 to 10, when streaming video on some websites the audio would have drops and skips. After many attempts updating drivers, restoring original drivers, tinkering with settings, and trying different browsers with no results. I was about to retire the old laptop. I borrowed the NETGEAR A6150 Network Adapter from our desktop. Disabled the built in Intel(R) Centrino(R) Advanced-N 6200 Adapter on the laptop, and installed the NETGEAR A6150 WiFi USB 2.0 Adapter. I couldn't believe it fixed the problem. I bought a second one the very next day, and it even showed up in the mail a day early. None of the support forums, or problem solved videos pointed to an issue with the built in adapter. The old Laptop gets daily use, and seems to run a little faster. I can upgrade when I see a deal I can't resist.

My system's built-in WIFI failed and I needed something that would allow me to connect to the network immediately... Simple install with Plug and play for WIN10. Solid signal strength meeting my expectations. Overall it is a very good product for the price.

I bought this for a desktop computer that only has wifi available. It works fine. Be aware that you have to download software for this to work. I used a laptop to download the software to a flash drive and then installed the software on the desktop. The installation was easy and the desktop is wifi capable.

Casual online gamer here. I've had this router for a little over half a year, and it works very well. The speed of the adapter will largely depend on how well your connection already is to your router/how close you already are to your router. The speeds are not going to be better than what a wifi card can get you, but if you're in a situation like me and your wifi card broke and can't be replaced, a Network Adapter like this will work if you're already really close to your router or already have a great connection. I play Genshin and my router is across the room, (no walls in between) 300 mbps speed and my ping sits in the low 50s-high 40s which is great for the game, I never get any lag or slowdowns. My wifi issue now is basically non-existent and I don't really have plans to replace my wifi card anymore. And if you aren't a gamer you probably won't even notice the difference. Fair warning though, this won't make your connection stronger as I said before, and the signal will be bad if you're significantly far away from the router; in my previous home I was two walls and an outdoor hallway away from my router and the speed was obviously very poor, and in this case you'll definitely need a wifi card to get a good connection. As far as Network Adapters go this is the one to choose in my opinion.

The wifi on my old gaming laptop stopped working. I tried everything to fix the problem so I wouldn't have to use an ethernet cord constantly or pay a big chunck of money to replace internal parts. This external adapter was a perfect fix and was easy to use.

I have an older laptop that ran only 2G. Not wishing to have to try to replace the WIFI card in the laptop I found it easier to just get a USB dongle for WIFI. I am familiar with Netgear being a good product so I decided to go with the dongle for 5G by Netgear. It has been eight months so far no problems. Very simple to install. Since buying the dongle I have purchased Netgear's router with the eight ports from BestBuy. One thing i did like is their price matching for the ASUS - AX6000 Dual Band Wi-Fi 6 Router. Don't know if it is still on sale, but it allows me to upgrade to WIFI 6 in the future. Should I choose to do so. I don't think much about brands when they claim one thing and do another. However with Netgear it seems that for the home the dongle and the router is a good foundation for streaming from PC, tablets and other automation devices. As with any networking device it is only as good as your network provider's service. I say this because one's expectations should not be to clear up bad internet service by purchasing a better router, because there isn't a router made that can do that. A good router will enhance the service provided by a good internet provider by allowing the devices in one's home or office to be more efficient. So if your looking to update an old PC to WIFI 5 this is the dongle that did it for me. Happy web surfing!

Works well now that the software was downloaded and installed. My laptop was having an issue connecting to WiFi so I was instructed to get an USB Adapter. In order to use this particular adapter you have to download the software from the website - which is hard to do if you do not have internet connection... In the end I had to use the Mobile Hotspot from my phone to connect my laptop to the internet and then was able to get install software to be able to use the Adapter. I guess some adapters come with the software installed already and once you plug into laptop it installs automatically - so just be aware that this is not the case with this specific one.

Never have used a wifi adapter until now. Working from home and I use a desktop computer that is not WiFi compatible. My job sent me a TrendNET brand WiFi adapter which was absolutely horrible and slow. This one works at great speeds and I’m able to get my work done. It’s nice and small, can barely even tell that it’s plugged into the back of my desktop tower. I now have the ability to move my workspace away from my internet router and modem without having to run an Ethernet cord.
