The Good, The Bad and the Ugly.

The Good: This Dual band WIFI mesh extender device can broadcast the same SSIDs that your router uses for both the 2,4GHZ and 5GHZ bands using the same passwords. This makes it more transparent for your devices when roaming through the house. You also don't need to setup another network SSID on each of your devices. It also has good range to reach dead spots in your home. It's easy to setup with the Nethawk smartphone app or using your PC. That's where the good ends. If it works it works but if it doesn't good luck. The Bad: WPS never worked for the initial setup. No error message or logs. I wanted to extend both the bands to reach devices in the far reaches of my house. It is supposed to establish an uplink to your router for both bands and broadcast both bands to your devices. The 5GHZ uplink would establish with Great signal strength then the Netgear end would disconnect. Devices would connect to both the Netgear broadcast SSIDs So all your traffic would only connect through the 2.4GHZ uplink to your router. Again No Logs, No Error Messages, No trouble shooting help. I reset the devices multiple times and ran setup with the same results. I returned the unit figuring I had a bad device. Nope, the new unit did the same thing, so it looks like a bad engineering job and testing certification by Netgear. The Ugly: Poor documentation online, no trouble shooting on my issue. I opened several trouble tickets with Netgear and their responses left me thinking that they don't even read your trouble description. Worthless help. I reconfigured the device using their Fastlane technology where it only broadcasts one SSID, 2.4 or 5 and uses the opposite band 5 or 2.4 GHZ band as the uplink. This works in both configurations. But it defeats the purpose of why I purchased the device to extend both bands to weak spots in my home. So, My take on this is that Netgear really wants to sell you two devices to extend both bands. Very Ugly.

Yes, WiFi extenders are actually worse for your Wi-Fi performance in many ways. But in my case, with multiple walls/hallways between the router and my room, this is a great way to get a better signal (MOST of the time). The setup was very intuitive, the app is great, and the Ethernet port is very convenient especially for those whose computers don’t have WiFi cards or if their WiFi cards are just on the fritz. The price is in a sweet spot IMO for the features you get. There are pricier extenders out there with more features, sure, but at the end of the day it’s a WiFi extender. This one does what you need it to do and does it well. I only have one gripe, which is that the unit is so heavy it can loosen up the outlet you plug it into. Just something to keep in mind.

My NETGEAR Nighthawk router already covers 2,500 sq. ft which is very good inside the house and is set up in a closet near the front door. Initially, I was getting a good signal at the other end of my backyard as well where I installed a security camera. However, after a recent room addition that added several new walls, the signal weakened significantly for the camera. I tried several extenders, but none worked—until I tried this NETGEAR one! Wow, 10 stars! All five signal bars are full, and the camera is working again. I placed the extender in my detached garage, which is between my house and the security camera. My land is about 10,000 sq. ft. and now I have a strong signal in all four corners.

The WiFi extender improves signal strength and speeds in weak areas with easy setup and a compact design, though its range could be a bit larger.

I had no experience with extenders after reading reviews I purchased this one. I was amazed in how easy it was to setup equally amazed at how well it works. I tried relocating the router and it helped but when I put this baby in the difference was amazing. I thank previous reviewers it was you that helped me decide. Super easy setup even for me. One thing I figured out is when you have a dead zone the best router on the market most likely will not give you the internet you are looking for. It needs the help of an extender, this is a very good one. We have a Tri level house router now on top floor. Extender is on middle floor with the same test results in all three floors and all internet issues have been resolved with this unit. Yes I like it a lot it’s pretty amazing.

Easy to pair with your home system. In our case it is synced with Arris Surfboard SVG2482 modem. Modestly priced, functions as expected. Note: We are not using it for gaming, so can't comment on that use.

Setup should have been easy, following the instructions, but it was giving errors saying my wifi info was wrong and then after several failed attempts, having changed nothing, it connected to my wifi and hasn't given any problems since. Other than that it seems to be working as intended.

    Relief!

At first, I was really frustrated with my new AT&T Fiber connection. It would disconnect several times a day which knocked off all my VPN secure connections while trying to work from home. I called AT&T several times, had technicians out to my house at least three times, trying to find the root cause of the disconnections. I finally read an article that said modern WiFi 6 routers will automatically attempt to reconnect with devices that have a weak signal. I thought that this might be what was knocking out my connections. So, I did some research on Best Buy and decided on this unit as the best features at this very reasonable price point. I installed the extender about halfway between my work laptop and the fiber gateway. No more disconnects! So the technical problem that several support people and field techs were unable to solve was simply a weak signal. I was so happy with my first extender that I bought another one just like it to help with the signal for my PS5. I can now stream cloud-based games at full resolution! These extender units rock! I'm really happy to have made the investment to increase the reliability and speed of my network! Everything really is, now, blazing fast and rock solid. Thank you, Netgear and Best Buy!

The range of this Mesh Extender is amazing. I have just 2 small issues. 1.) There is an error in the quick start guide. The directions tell you to plug into the extender and connect to its LAN. Then it tells you to sign into NetGear, but you can't because the LAN has no internet connection. So you must call to get it set up. But my rep, Robert, was excellent. 2.) Though the range is greatly extended, it sometimes confuses the router and takes a couple minutes to connect. Other than that, the benefits of this router far outweigh the two small inconveniences. I recommend this product.

Rock solid performance and simple to set up. My old wifi extender was only delivering speeds around 10-15 Mbps while I get almost 500 Mbps with this one. I haven't had a single issue with it except my kid keeps taking it out of the wall.

Good for the purpose of purchase. I do wish there was a manual reset button on the unit. There are times the Wifi that it is connecting to loses Internet connectivity but maintains a network connection. When the Internet connection resumes at the main box, it does not always reconnect to the Extender.

I was able to make a direct connection to my ps5 using an Ethernet port and could finally play Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone with my cross platform friends. It was easy to set up and its design looks clean and simple. Would definitely recommend this product for people who have a large house with the router stuck on the opposite end.

I must say this item did the job! I was having a hard time with my connection stabilizing while using multiple systems. It was recommended that I purchase a Mesh Wall extender. I was unsure which one to choose- however the staff member at the store was able to help me. He suggested this one and I will tell you , IT WORKS! I have not had one single issue since using this. 4 stars instead of 5 because set up was cumbersome and not as user friendly as expected.

The mesh extender has been good so far. The set up was easy and connected well with the system already in place. My WiFi signal has been stronger and more consistent since connecting to the mesh system. I also have a netgear router. Being able to view the network status and connections for both devices through the Netgear app is nice and user friendly. One note, I originally had the extender behind a cabinet. The signal wasn’t as consistent as I expected. I moved the extender to an open area and it has been fine since then.

Moved into a larger place and our wifi had some dead spots. This completely solved our problems. We already owned a Nighthawk wifi router and this Netgear extender worked perfectly with it. The app found it and now we don't have any dead spots. I would recommend and buy again.

This Wi-Fi extender has exceeded my expectations and fulfilled all my requirements. It has significantly enhanced my online gaming experience. I no longer encounter substantial lag during multiplayer games. My download speeds have substantially improved, enabling me to stream content without any issues. Despite paying for 600 Mbps through Spectrum, where I primarily spend my time gaming, which I consider a dead zone in my home, I was only receiving approximately 80-99 Mbps before purchasing this product. Since implementing the Wi-Fi extender, my connection speed has increased to around 300 Mbps, which is sufficient for my gaming and streaming needs. It is important to note that I am primarily a console user, playing on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and Nintendo Switch. Therefore, my experiences may not be representative of others. However, I highly recommend this product to anyone experiencing poor internet connectivity in specific areas of their living space. Currently, I reside in a 1,250 square foot townhouse with three levels. My router is located on the main floor, while the extender is situated on my upper level.

Used this to extend the range of my outside security system and it really works perfectly. I do not have to worry about it - it just resets itself if there is a power outage. Works perfectly with my Orbi system
