Modem side is fast. Router side is slow.

Time warner came out to verify speed coming into modem is 96mbps. Then they left without any ideas . Speed coming out of wireless is 45mbps. The N router types cannot speeds higher than 50mbps, even when sitting by the router. It gets slower when I am about 15 feet away in the same room. Just something to consider for the future. Did a 1.5 hour call with netgear without success. Another note is that each night I had to push the on/off button to reset on this netgear.
I tried the linksys N router with a zoom modem, and linksys said AC type of router is needed for output speeds more than 50mbps. With the price of the AC router/modem at more than $150, it will take > 1.5 years to catch the break even buying point.

I am impressed with the Best Buy's service, online and in store.
The Netgear N300 wireless router is priced reasonably according to the other vendors for this product. It has been going well ever since I bought it (almost 2months).

I was tired of paying $10 to rent a router from cable company. Bought this and set it up myself in literally 5 minutes. Great product and will save me a ton of money over the life of its use.

Purchased this modem to eliminate paying rental fees. Should have purchased a long time ago because it works just as good if not better than the one I rented

Awesome product. I went in there and needed a modem and had no idea what to get. The staff was very helpful and when I got the product home it was exactly what he said it was and more.

Having owned Netgear devices in the past, I had high hopes for this device. I purchased to avoid the monthly modem fee when I switched ISP's to Comcast six months ago. Initially, things appeared to be OK. Within a week, I noticed both 2.4 & 5Ghz streams were consistently dropping connections, even devices that were within 20 feet of the router. Coverage on the 2nd floor of my home was, and continues to be, spotty even after adding a Netgear range extender, which often disconnects too. After working with support to make sure that the latest firmware was applied and even resetting the device to original factory settings and starting over, performance has not changed. My household does have quite a few devices attached at any given time (multiple streaming media sticks, a smart TV, several smart phones and laptops) so perhaps I am expecting too much of this product. I suppose it might of use to someone in a small home or apartment, but it looks as though I need to invest in something else.

When I went to buy this, multiple Best Buy employees tried to get me to buy a more expensive modem/router, to the point of being condescending. Even the guy checking me out was commenting on how old it was, saying it was obsolete and couldn't even stream videos. (Then why sell it?) But I had done my research and was pretty sure this one would be fine. And it is! I live in a small apartment so there's usually only a couple devices connected to it, but it works great and I've never had a problem with it disconnecting. (And I can stream videos just fine.)

I purchased this NETGEAR N300 WiFi Cable Modem Router (Model C3000) brand new today from BB and the WiFi keept dropping the signal every 20 to 30 seconds. I immidiately registered the product then called NETGEAR customer support. (you can only call customer support after you register the product). After an hour of following his directions of changing settings and testing, it became apparent that this was a deffective unit. I was mentally debilitated after going through all of this. Customer support is from India. It was difficult to understand him. Plus they are performing "LIVE CHAT" with other customers while I was on the phone with him. I finally had enough and explained to the customer support agent that I would simply return the product. He promptly tried to talk me out of returning it. I was not having any of it. I thanked him for his time and said goodbye. I bought this piece of junk today and I will be returning it to Best Buy tomorrow. I will not be exchanging it for another new one. I will be purchasing another modem and the name brand WILL NOT BE NETGEAR!!!

Two nonfunctional boxes in a row

I bought the C3000 because it has two Ethernet ports, compatible with Time Warner, good price. On the first box, only Ethernet port one and wireless worked, port two did not. Netgear told me to return it to Best Buy. Best Buy exchanged it one week after purchase, NO hassles, for another C3000. The second box had the exact same problem -- port two shows a > 50% packet loss, unusable. The specs: firmware v1.01.11, hardware version C278T00-01 for both. Speed tests done via www.speedtest.net. I need two working RJ-45 jacks. At the moment I am also not impressed with Netgear support. If I return the second box to BB, I won't leave with another Netgear product.

Bought mine in July 2015 as I needed a new modem due Comcast saying I needed to upgrade it.
Pros
Fast and easy setup
Small size
Cheap
Cons
20 feet range and that's with it mounted at the highest point
Started messing up in the last couple of months. Wired would work and wifi would keep dropping and no longer work. Called their customer service and was told I needed to pay $140 to get a software patch that would fix the issue
At least a 50% reduction in speeds compared to wired. Ran the tests through various websites
I gottta live with it now and having to shut it down every hour. Wish I knew. I rarely write reviews but am so angry I had to. Spend the extra cash and buy others.

The item I purchased gave me low wireless speed (3-5 mps whereas my wired speed is 30mbps) . Contacted Netgear customer care and did all the things they said but the speed won't go up. Finally I was said to return the device as it had a hardware problem. Got the new device in 1 week of time and is now running ok. Able to get 28-30mbps on wireless. Good support from netgear
