Works as it should
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. No frills router/modem combo. I wish that the range was a bit better. I live in a condo and some corners of the house don't get the full range. It's acceptable but could be better. I got the warranty because no matter what router/modem you have they will fail eventually. Source: 20 years of owning routers/modems/combos

Great Range, Easy Setup
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I been using this for new comcast service for 7 weeks now. Service has been consistent, and range not really hampered by the bedroom walls and laundry room in my 3 bedroom apartment. Easily supported my smartphone, smart tv, and my laptop all at once.

Poor signal strength
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This router is advertised as being suitable for small to medium sized houses. That is not true. I have a small Chicago home and being that the router is located in the basement I get 50% or less signal strength upstairs, not to mention out in the backyard, etc.

Wifi speed was no good, too slow . Exchanged it .
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Got it for the inexpensive price after switching from AT&T Uverse to Xfinity 100 MB plan to avoid equipment fees. Would not download on WiFi over 20 mbps although positioned within 5 feet of laptop. Worked full speed if attached to Ethernet cable only. After an hour of troubleshooting with Xfinity tech support, and some online research including reviews of others with same issue, concluded its the router itself. Took it back and got an Arris Surfboard AC1600 for about $50 more, also from Best Buy. Model # SBG6700-AC. Hooked the surfboard in and running as expected. Xfinity rep advised WiFi will not get full 100 mbps, and told me normally runs at about 50 mbps. I am getting up to 80 mbps from as far away as over 30+ feet through multiple walls. I have tested it running Netflix and Youtube on four different computers at same time, plus my cell phone and speed test on cell phone in back corner of house still tested at 48 mbps. Please be sure to test your speed and ensure the equipment is delivering the download and upload speed (upload should be 5-6 mbps on the Xfinity 100 mbps plan) for which you are paying! Disconnections
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I initially thought this would be a good buy for my first apartment, but I was wrong. While I don't have many complaints about speed or range, the connection drops a few times a day. Have to restart the router to get it working. The disconnections aren't predictable, either, which makes it difficult to get work done. There could be 20 minutes between disconnections or 2 days. I take some online classes, and I have to go elsewhere to take tests since my connection drops. If the connection drops during a test, I fail. Not worth the risk, and looking back on it, an extra $100 investment in a better router would've been well worth it.

DONT BUY! Netgear has horrible customer service
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.don't buy this item! Netgear is horrible!! Customer service only gives you a free 90days of call up help, after that they charge 129 for a year or over 200 for 2 years! for that price you can buy a new modem/router!!! I had this device for 4mths before it stopped working! seems fishy that as soon as the free customer service trial ended the device stopped connecting to the internet! there is a 365 day replacement warranty but don't let them fool you, once they send you to the outsourced telephone help in india, all they do is talk you in circles! avoid at all costs!

Extremely Poor Wi-Fi Performance
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I will be exchanging this item this weekend. Simply, the speed measured at the ethernet connection was 25Mbps consistently; however, the highest wi-fi speed achieved was 8Mbps at a distance of 3ft. Wi-fi speed was inconsistent and often fell well below 1Mbps. This speed was cut in half when a Netgear wifi extender was added.

Good Router/Modem combo
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Good 2-in-1 router/modem. Compatible with Xfinity service. Only downside for me is that there are only 2 ethernet ports.

You are better off spending an extra $100
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This seem to be a good router at first, or so I though at first. I have a +75Mbs speed plan with comcast and I would be very lucky if I can get 10Mbs on a good day. I was ok with this until a month later this started disconnecting and reseting on and off. Sometimes it lets me connect to the wifi and sometimes even putting the right Password would not let me connect at all. Very frustating having to deal with this slow speed and on and off reseting when I am paying for a faster speed. I do not recommend this. I purchased myself to save the rental form Xfinity and boy I was wrong. I wish I would have read the comments before purchasing this.

Steer clear for wireless usage
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Horrible modem/router for wireless internet. I pay for 75 mbps and only get 15 mbps on a good day. Waste of money. Also horrible limited support- after three months you have to pay for technical support and the 1 year warranty will only kick in if the modem doesn't work at all. It works well for a wired connection, but most modems do these days anyways.
