Good Proof-of-Concept device, but often crashes!

This is a good "Proof-of-Concept" functional prototype, rather than a production quality device. Because, it's overall design and features are great compares to most of other Internet boxes available in the market, but the quality of service and performance is not great. Chrome browser is very slow scrolling up n down pages, crashes very often trying to do so. Video playback is often crashes on browser, sometimes only sound you hear, no pictures! you have to power unplug and replug to recover since power down from the remote doesn't work as the device OS itself is crashed!
Sometimes, after a crash and power cycle, I found that the Wi-Fi had been disabled automatically, so I have to go to setup and enable it again.
Therefore, I have to say that they, netgear, should have better tested and fixed the device to perform in production quality first, before rushing into market it. We are not Beta Testers please!

The remote makes it super easy to search for things. Its pretty simple to use and is pretty fast in its operations. A digital audio output would be nice though.

It broke after a week ... well I shouldn't say broke because everything turned on but the remote wouldn't sync to the unit after the cheap batteries it came died after only a week of use.

NOT ready for prime time YET.

This would be a good beta test unit. Not quite ready for prime time YET. Not thrilled with it yet, but having premium silver status I get 60 days to see if netgear continues to do meaningful upgrades to firmware. If not I'll consider it not worth the gamble and return.
I have a logitech revue, like it alot. Would like another gtv for my 2nd tv, using a roku on it for now which would go to the bedroom tv. I'm surprised that Logitech has supported the revue as much as they have but doubt we will see anymore from them or Google. Already seeing must download flash update which of course we cannot do for some sites, so compatibility for future very much in doubt. Compared to the roku (1st generation) the neo much better but no hulu access. Compared to the revue, like it but the separate IR blaster is awkward, seems to only run one thing at a time and doesn't do that right. My revue can control my tivo and tv, controlling channel changes on tivo, volume thru tv. Neo either can't do it or setup was so hard I gave up. The blaster is powerful enough, I've seen several reviews saying no power, but I can set it up facing away from my entertainment center and it reflects off my white walls and ceiling well enough to control my tv and tivo from the same location. The ir receiver on the tivo and tv are about 3 feet apart.
I use the gtv to watch acorntv and amazon streaming online. On the revue often the first episode of a program will play fine than a shockwave flash crash will mean I need get up and go across the room to pull the plug on revue. No such problem YET with the Neo. If flash crashes a power plug pull needed on revue, power off with power button on remote has worked on neo. Often when using chrome on revue even if I haven't used it for chrome since the last use and not used it for days I will get the tail chasing circle and the page will not load until the power reboot. Haven''t seen that yet on neo.
I like the neo remote. Has all you need in just a handful, not so crowded it's a problem. A little wider grip would be nice but can't have everything. I quickly learned not to wrap my fingers around to the touchpad when using the keyboard so that major dis on the remote is a sign of other reviewers not giving it a fair chance or being somewhat coordination impaired (I'm not known for my coordination to put it in purspective) The touchpad is an awesome concept and usually works well, had to pull batteries once because touchpad wasn't responding but keyboard was. Maybe I was doing something wrong but battery pull did it. Don't know what the control button on the keyboard is for, would have rather seen the shift, control, Fn and caps buttons rearrainged so the most used (Shift and Fn) are on the outside. Also the dedicated HBO to go button? Netgear assumes every one with google tv wants HBO? I would think one of the prime markets would be cord cutters like I am so why the dedicated premium channel button? If you are paying for cable and HBO spring for the sony, not the netgear market IMHO. I would like to see that user defined.
The other media button works great so far on usb source I used. Also access to my picasa account videos. Played them both for hours, no issues.
Crackle great for cheapskates like me. Works great compared to Roku, never bothered with it on Revue.
I wouild NOT recommend this unit at this time to a friend, but a few minor updates and that would change. The one control blaster would have to be fixed, multiple items to control (my case tivo and tv) would have to be fixed. Review has no problems with that.
Would like to see the GTV prime work. Having cut the cord I don't have cable so chose digital broadcast. Never populated. Tried the local cable company, never populated. No problem with revue so don't think it's me or my location.
RAM on revue 520mb. 2gb on neo. Looked all over on the web for specs, found none but response is a little faster than revue and the extra ram explains why it's more stable.
I need this unit to be a little more user friendly so my less tech enthusiastic wife can use it. If the improvements don't come I'll save $80 and get a 2nd roku.

I bought this device in order to use the slingbox software and watch my cable tv from Brazil where I have the slingbox hardware installed. I have no complaints, the slingbx app works very well and I am able to use youtube, surf the net etc. Anyone who wants to watch movies, surf on the net with Youtube or other streaming software should get this product, with a good internet connection there will be no regrets.

I have had this product for about 7 months now. I originally had a neo tv basic (whatever is called) and it had a bunch of useless junk I'd never use. Then i saw the Pro and Prime packages. I liked what the Pro had and figured the Prime would too, wrong. It can't use WiDi, first major disappointment. I still planned a few other uses for it though. Google TV was not real impressive, buts thats just an opinion, its was still better than my cable guide, but i dont watch tv anyway. It had a cool controller set up[ on the remote, so i figured it could play some android games that my galaxy player couldnt, major disappointment as well, good luck finding ONE app this thing can download, not compatible with probably >90% of Google Play. My only use for it now is to stream my anime that i have in my videos folder on my pc to my not-so-smart tv. It works for the most part, the MY Media for NeoTV app is actually pretty nice, but it still has some major problems. This device has confirmed my ultimate computer repair technique: keep restarting it and it will work eventually.
This piece of junk has been so disappointing that i only use it when i go to bed, which is why it irritates me so much. I'm always having to figure out why it wont stream my anime 30 minutes past the time i wanted to go to bed. I am actually writing this right now as i am now an hour past the time i wanted to be asleep, troubleshooting this junk, as a kind of last rite of my neotv prime. I'm planning on replacing this thing as soon as possible, after that, I'll introduce this little pain in my side to my hammer.
DO NOT BUY THIS!!! leave this page and look elsewhere for a media device. Even an apple product would work better than this.

Worst GoogleTV ever made

I have used a couple Google TVs before from Vizio and Logitec. This one from Netgear is by far one of the worst. From day 1 since it arrived, it continues to have problem. The aVia app which comes preinstalled in the box for user to play the media files crashes all the time when tried to play something. Then, eventually it crashes every time I tried to enter the app. I had to give it a hardware reset and wiped everything out to get it back functioning. Also, the remote is also very poorly made. It combined the navigation keys with the touchpad cursor. Cool idea, but fails to deliver as every time you try to press Up/Down/Left/Right, the device lags on getting the input which is really frustrating to use. I ended up taking my Logitech GoogleTV's keyboard in order to use this device. And after a couple days, the device simply lost pairing with the remote. I had to reset the box for it to re-pair. This one is going back to the store....

Terrible device

Everything about this device is poor. The remote's thumb pad will fade in and out of working. My HBOGo "app" (it is merely a programmed link to the webpage) stopped working a quick 2 months into owning this. The device frequently wont connect to wireless internet while it sits in the same room with 4 other mobile devices of mine that are connected. The app selection is actually really poor which I was suprised by. I originally bought this device over a Roku because it had the Google name in it and it seemed decent. DON'T MAKE THAT MISTAKE. Buy the Roku, or better yet wait for the Google Chromecast to come out.

Great streaming device, with live TV integrated

I think a lot of reviews here are based on the previous model, not the current one.
Just got mine and love how everything is integrated - native apps like Amazon Prime, Netflix etc with shortcuts on remote, ability to control Cable/Satellite with PIP as well, stream pics and videos from USB stick (my mp4 files played brilliantly) or external drive as well as your media on Dropbox, Picasa etc.
Best feature is the ability to use your Android phone as remote with Google TV app which works smoothly with cursor display, home buttons, menu shortcuts, voice search and typing. Don't even have to use the remote included with the device except for the on/off function.
Web browser is OK - a lot better than what you will find on some Smart TV and Blu-ray players although not sure exactly what you would use it for when you can use Google Cast from your Chrome browser on laptop or in Youtube to sync with this and display on TV. Best way to watch Youtube hands down.
Don't have much experience with durability or quality since I have only had it a day, but very happy with the product right now

DO NOT BUY THIS!
Its soo difficult to setup and it just doesn't connect to the TV. Initially, it shows up a screen of Netgear. And then just blows out. Batteries of remote died within a week. And remote would never connect to the box.
I had a very high expectation, but as soon i used it for a week I felt like to return it. I'm going to the store right away and returning it.

Great Picture Quality!

I bought this NeoTV Prime as well as the Sony Internet Player NSZ-GS7 at the same time to compare. For some reason, the NeoTV picture quality on my 106" projector screen looks better than the Sony's. I compared Live TV, VUDU, Netflix, etc. It may be the different video processing like NeoTV's Deep Color setting. I'm keeping the NeoTV and returning the more expensive Sony. I wanted to like the Sony because it has an optical output and a backlit remote that the NeoTV does not have. Overall, I very satisfied with the NeoTV!

After setup, it rebooted and all it did from that point on was crash. I tried resetting it and it wouldn't work. Apparently, there is something wrong with the OS. Hopefully Netgear figures it out.
