Netgear 5G Hotspot for RV trip

Bought this for our monthlong RV trip across the US. Worked well with the ATT 5G network where available and was convenient to connect multiple devices which ATT does not allow over a normal phone hotspot. We were easily able to connect 8 of our devices to this concurrently. The battery life is good and is displayed on the front. The only downside was that I had to log onto the ATT portal to check on the data usage which I could not view on the display. This was quite a rigmarole as ATT only offers 100 GB of data on its hotspot plan over a 30 day period, which is measly and needs to be judiciously conserved. Also the storage for messages is tiny and it complains when there are more than 5-6 text messages that it is out of space.

This is so far the best hotspot I ever own and I have several because I do Live Streaming so I tried a lot of options and this one is the best, a little expensive but is worth it.

This is a slight upgrade from what I original M2 night hawk. Connects more devices, doesn't heat up as much, interface right into the device didn't need a computer to set it up. To me it is a solid upgrade.

I live in an area where internet has very limited options. The Nighthawk is only in 4g as we are just outside 5g range. Yet it still runs all my online console gaming and tv/movie streaming without issue. Very happy with the device's performance

This product may be OK for a the home user or possibly for the business road warrior, but trying to run and operate a business with this, it is an abysmal failure. Provisioned on the AT&T network, these are IPv6 devices with an IPv4 LAN conversion on them, ultimately this means that what passes for DMZ and port forwarding within the interface is not usable for creating inbound connections. The ethernet port in its default configuration is for offload, through forums and trial and error, you can enable the hotspot to pass data to the ethernet port but doing so disables wifi. Options for port pass through, DMZ are minimal to the point of useless, bridgemode is not supported at all. With no directional external antenna, range and gain are limited, ultimately this device had very poor signal as well compared to my iPhone 11 Pro and my iPad Air 4th Gen with LTE with both of those devices surpassing speeds from this device in the same area and on the same desk. I took outside and tried with similar results as well (we applied a business mobile broadband plan of 100mbps). Engaging AT&T support and then NetGear support proved to be a waste of time as well, neither company was prepared to provide support beyond on / off, battery in / out, etc. Adding further insult to injury, the latest firmware update the device installed after first launch DOES NOT match the documentation. At $500, if you're a business user, spring for a cradle point or similar style product.

This is a great devise. We are RV full timers and use it daily on the road or at our favorite vacation spot. It has great speeds and we do not any problems streaming. The reason for the four stars, the price.

It is faster than any other hotspot on the market. The only thing I do not like is the use of Ts9 connectors for external antenna connections. It is very hard to keep and make sure they are plugged into it correctly

I initially purchased the unlocked M1 hotspot. That was an ok hotspot. Data speeds where decent. I decided to upgraded to the at&t MR5100 even with high price but its worth it. What a difference. Speeds where double compared to the M1 on LTE. No 5G in my area at the moment. I highly recommend this hotspot.

I LOVE having access to my own personal wi-fi. This replaced the first one I purchased back in 2015. It is very easy to set-up and start using, so was the first one, same make older model. If you don’t like being without wi-fi service, this is your answer!!
