Design issue: 1. Netgear should have been a little less conservative $$$ Including an internal FAN to cool the overheated components within the chassis. 2. Anyone purchasing this unit works well. Hint: Do Not Call Xfinity/Comcast until you connect the unit run the setup with Netgear documentation .. wait to call them to authorize it... the modem will automatically connect to customer service portal. 3. You will the be required to enter your email/pass word. 4. Connection will then be an automatic issue. so have your phone in hand .. checking for dial tone.. and guess what it's all done within 5 minutes. 5. Make sure you take the rental unit back only after 1 week of usage .. due if the Netgear is going to fail it will do so within 1 week. 6. Call Xfinity/Comcast notifying them of removal or rental unit and installation of your own. You're done.. Check your bill once you take the unit back.. seems Xfinity/Comcast has issues with following thru on removal of charges and overcharges etc.

I finally upgraded from my old modem and router technology to this unit. I used to get 31 mbps out of 50 and now I get 49+ mbps out of 50. This combo unit saves me space and was simple to set up.

I was concerned about performance, others recommended buying a separate modem and router. The Nighthawk combo blows away the Xfinity router I was renting. Much better coverage and faster speeds, especially on 5G. With the Xfi router I was getting 10-20 mbps download over 2.4g wireless, 60-80 over 5g in a room which has always been a "dead" zone for wireless. Now I get 40-45mbps download over 2.4g, 170+ over 5g.

I purchased this to replace my xfinity gateway as i was facing frequent wifi issues even in small apartment especially for devices which are using 2.4 band. Setting up with xfinity is very easy, connect the coaxial cable ,modem resets 2,3 times and shows online indicator then i connected my laptop with lan cable and tried to access internet and it redirected me to comcast activation page which required my account number and other details. Once done i called up comcast and provided the mac address to register the router. Coverage is good. Admin UI looks little old.

I've been renting Comcast/Xfinity modem for more than 2 years. Just out of the blue decided on procuring one on my own. Settled on the Nighthawk Dual-Band AC1900 Router and no regrets. Very easy to activate, everything is done online. No need to call customer service. Performance has been better specially with voice calls. We were experiencing delays/latency with phone calls with the modem we had from Comcast. With this one, no delays at all. Should have done this sooner!

Purchased C7100V device, which is one of only two choices available if an Xfinity internet and voice customer. With more than 250Mbps service (measured via an ethernet connection), the device only produces an 80-90Mbps wifi connection in 5G mode when only a few feet away from the device. 2.4G mode is slower at approx 60Mbps. After 2+ hours with Netgear phone reps, no setting changes made any difference. Returned item to see if another one would perform any better. Nope. That being said, in a 3500 sqft home, the wifi signal is reasonable throughout. Remains at 20-30 Mbps at the furthest reaches of home. Tried the competing Arris Surfboard SVG2482 as well. While it had 5G speeds almost as good as via an Ethernet cable (250Mbps), the range of the wifi signal in my home (on either band) was not as good as with the Netgear device - the two furthest rooms received no wifi signal. Wish there was a pure modem for Xfinity internet and voice at a reasonable cost, so that a proven router or whole home mesh system could then be used. The C7100V is too expensive to just be put into bridge mode.

When reboot it works FAST, but have to reboot every evening, from normal 100/10 Mbps at evening is 35/6 Mbps Tomorrow after Xfinity tech visit I will decide if it stay or go back to store. BTW support sucks. After many Netgear products with excellent results this one isn’t working as a $279.00 modem should be.

Very pleased with the unit. It gets great coverage. The 5G band gets good coverage in the one level house it’s in. Never any drops. Streaming Netflix or Disney Plus barely buffers. Set was pretty easy. Most difficult part was getting Comcast to do their part.

this router has served us longer and way better than anything we have rented from the cable companies.... very pleased with the range of the router... it's in our basement and we have a 2 story house ... no problems picking up all the way to the top floor....

up and running for a couple of hours and my ring doorbell video is back on line after several months due to lousy xfinity modems they put 3 of them in and all would not allow security ring video to work and I don't have to pay comcast $10 a month anymore if u are having trouble with xfinity Arris or Technicolor modem routers go to netgear nighthawk and it was so easy to set up follow the quick start up by the step and it goes real smooth ,so far so good!

This replaced our Comcast rented Wi-Fi router for the triple play option of service. I had researched the ratings on this Netgear device on several sites. I followed their set-up instructions and had the router fully functional within 20 minutes of hook-up. Phone number verification all confirmed over the set-up process. There was no need to contact a customer service rep. So far the router has worked well. I have gad to reboot one time due to phone dropping out, but that happened sporadically with the Comcast device also. Good price at Best Buy. Curb side pick up was easy.

I was hesitant to buy the most expensive Comcast-ready router Best Buy had, but I am glad I did. We are getting great range and good performance from it. It gets dinged one star for how slow it reboots, but overall it is reliable, fast, and powerful.

Spoke with Comcast first and they said I had an up to date modem/router. After my research I found that it might be the most up to date they offered but there were better that I could purchase. I would have a better modem/router that works very good with xfinity triple play that I have and would own it and do away with my rental fee.

I purchased the Netgear Nighthawk so I could stop paying Xfinity for their equipment. The setup was very easy. I made sure it was plugged in and powered up before I called Xfinity to activate the router. The whole process was easy and the router has worked perfectly, no problems. I use it for streaming 5 Rokus, 2 cell phones and 2 laptops. I also have the blast with Xfinity so I have not experienced any speed issues.

The Nighthawk Netgear AC1900 worked fine for almost 1 year then just stopped working. Super easy to install, screw on the WIFI cable and call the provider to get going. all set.
