Got this product from Best Buy after looking at it for a long time. The timing was right and the price was the best.

The product works great and was a simple swap from my previous Orbi. It's been my experience over the past 20 years, these seem to die (or have severe degradation of performance) at 5 years. Was hoping that the previous Orbi may have lasted longer given it was a pricey mesh system, but alas here we are. Imagine in 5 I'll be here again.

I upgraded to the Orbi 870 hoping for faster speeds, but honestly I didn’t see any significant improvement over my old Orbi 753. My internet performance feels about the same, and in some areas it even seems slower.
Additionally, I’ve had connectivity issues with my Blink cameras — they struggle to stay connected to this router, and overall the network feels less stable and smooth compared to my old Orbi.

This is the best. I am getting 1G down all over my home and outside. This is phenomenal.

Dropped everyday. Nearly hourly. It was the worst router experience of my life. I used to love Orbi, but something changed over at Netgear. Thank goodness too. The 870 failed so bad that it motivated me to return it. I found the ASUS BE30000 and that's like a real router. I can actually adjust the transmit power of the nodes or even adjust when a client needs to bind or push to another node based on signal loss. ASUS even let's the end user set up a reboot schedule to keep the router fresh. So thank you Netgear for forcing me into a relationship with ASUS. I haven't dropped once and it's been a wonderful experience.
Thank you for your review, we appreciate your feedback and we want you to know that your experience is important to us. We're sorry to hear that you had problems with your RBE873 dropping everyday and have already returned it. When experiencing an issue with connectivity, we recommend a few troubleshooting steps including unplugging the Orbi 870 Router from your modem or gateway and then performing a full power cycle of both. After 10 minutes when both have come back online, re-connect your Orbi 870 router to your modem or gateway. Afterwards, we recommend ensuring your RBE873 Router and Satellites are on the most recent firmware v10.5.20.4: https://kb.netgear.com/000068426/RBE871-RBE870-Firmware-version-10-5-20-4.
If you decide to repurchase the RBE873 or any other NETGEAR product and have any issues, please reach out to us at [email protected] with your contact information, and we will be happy to help you.

Not a reliable model I would say, WiFi connection was acting up randomly, tried everything, even returned the unit and got the other one, ending up returned the second unit too, I’m Orbi fan for years but sadly now
We also recommend ensuring your RBE873 Router and Satellites are on the most recent firmware v10.5.20.4 released as recently as 9-10-25: https://kb.netgear.com/000068426.

Great system if you like rebooting your Wi-Fi all the time. All the complaints on forums about how Apple HomePods just don’t work with this are right. You’ll be playing music and then it just randomly stops and you CAN’T CONNECT. My previous Wi-Fi router didn’t have this problem. This was an expensive downgrade. Extremely FRUSTRATING.

Their products are overpriced. THEIR warranty periods are too short. I am staying away from their routers.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Very easy setup and fantastic coverage. I connected using backhaul to get to parts of my property that had previously been blocked, but most installations probably won't need to go that route as the signal is very strong.

It's not a bad wifi system. But it's not great either. Coverage is ok. Connections are decent. The app really lacks features though. It's really limited if you need to monitor who and what is connected to your wifi. Big negative is the lack of auto reboot (this is an absolute must for people that travel a lot). For $1200 umm no. This is more like a $700 to $800 at best. If the TPLink wasn't such a terrible connections, that's what I would be using. This is mid.
Thank you for your review and valuable feedback. We would like an opportunity to improve your experience with your RBE873 via the Orbi App. You may access the Orbi App to monitor which devices are connected to your network via the Network Map feature. This feature allows you to see the topology of your network and which devices are connected to the router or satellites.
An auto reboot function is not currently available at this time, we will provide this feedback to our teams for future consideration.
