Fairly Good G Router

good enough router
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This router works very well with all our equipment. I was able to get it to work after having to reset it a couple of times. The only complain is that for a well known company there customer service is awful and useless. It is outsourced and there is a language barrier. so you are better of asking the Best Buy guys than calling the 800 number.

awesome modem
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This was the the easiest modem I have EVER HOOKED UP! My computer did all the work as far as the software was concerned I didn't have to use their software. Connected with in minutes and I was off to ENJOY! I have had this modem for about 2-3 months with flawless use. Will add another review a year down the road.

Easy to Set up, easy to use
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My sister needed a router so I suggested the WGR614 for the cheap price. Setting it up was easy. All I needed to do was follow the instructions. We did not experience not one problem during the set-up, not one. My PSP and my niece's iPod touch connected to the WGR614 effortlessly and had no problem downloading content. We used the ethernet port to connect to our Blu-Ray player, so regrettably, I can't tell anyone how well the WGR614 wirelessly streams video. It is an 802.11g router so my guess is that it will struggle to stream video. Signal is reduced by 40% when used in another room but like I stated earlier, downloading content to portable devices was successful. In fact, using this router for less complicated devices is probably what the WGR614 is really meant to do. I will submit another review once I connect a laptop to it.

Great router and very easy to set up.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This router was so easy to setup. It did not require me doing a whole lot. Just plug and play. It is working great, we have the Wii, my son's netbook, PSP go and his Ipod touch all working smoothly.

Sound purchase
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Net Gear wireless router was the only product that worked in my home. I went from one recommendation to another and finally found the sales rep at Best Buy who 1.) Took the time to listen and understand my question. 2.) Made sure that my questions were thoroughly answered before I left the store. 3.) Assured me that if their were any concerns or problems that the Geek squad would be more than ready to answer my questions. Thanks!!

This one just keeps getting better.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought a Netgear RangeMax N-150 thinking it might have better range (Range Max...get it?) than the 2003 WGR614 that died. It didn't. They both registered about 66% signal strength at 34 feet. The WGR614 Version 10 that I got yesterday registers 86% signal strength at 34 feet! I can score a perfect 10 megabits per second speed test, consistently, with that much power. (That's how fast my dsl cable is.) Besides that, the installation software is so much better than it was 8 years ago (pretty much the same as the N-150). It has the latest security encoding, firewall, Mac filtering, heuristic self protection, wifi protected setup, auto detect for the cable modem, etc. The WGR 614 has all the features I need and a couple extra. No sense in me paying $15 more for "N" speed and "guest" accounts that come with a weak transmitter.

Easy CD aided installation.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Provides basic Wifi connection on b/g networks. Includes simple firewall, WEP, WPA, WPA2 security. Good warranty. An installation CD is included. DSL set-up is almost automatic with the CD. Cable modem set-up is more complex especially if you do not already know your network settings. Unit can be laid flat or vertical. Unit has basic lights that aren't overly bright. Unit generates moderate heat and therefore is recommended for vertical placement utilizing the two included feet. If laid flat leave adequate space for airflow.

PURE AWESOMENESS
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Wife & I were SICK of sharing the same internet cord in our apt so I convinced her to get this. It was REALLY easy to set up (could be a tad confusing being in an apt b/c the MODEM is the internet outlet in the wall you get your internet from). Other than that it was way SIMPLE & it makes life a lot BETTER!

Really good product
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Ours was very good, until it got caught between a desk and a wall. We got it when my parents started working at home a little bit. Then my brother tripped on a wire coming from it and it slammed into the wall. Other than that, it was a really great product!! I would definitely buy it again, and recommend it to a friend!

Great for the price!!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It says during the setup that it will take about 20-25 minutes. Umm, no!! Hooked it to a DSL modem, as per instructions, could not connect to the internet at all. With the desktop or the laptop. Got on the phone with Verizon, and they did their thing, and connected me to Netgear support. Very effeicient, and patient people there. about an hour total spent on the phone, but they got it up and running.

Good product
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a solid product that gets the job done. I had some trouble setting it up, but that might have been just me. Depending on the setting the router would either work with my new notebook or with my old notebook, but not with both. I sent an email to netgear customer service. I am still waiting for the reply. Eventually I figured out a solution myself. However, overall a very good product.

A Good, Reliable Wireless Router.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I just bought this router today, and it works great for me. The setup only took five minutes, and the range is great. I had bought Belkin router today also, before this one, but my laptop could not detect it. Fortunately, I returned it and exchanged it for this one. I am glad I did.

Quick and Easy
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great for home use. Easy set-up, virtually plug in and go for an open network. Set network security with disk, program instruction slightly confusing to average computer user, a breeze for the experienced. Looks great too, cute hand sized device with nice display lights. Have other Netgear products that worked well also. What's better for $40?

Easy to use
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The router was very easy to set up, I would say I am a novice at this and it only took about 15 minutes. The price of the router was also really good, comparable to any internet prices with no waiting for shipping.

Easier to install than Linksys
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. When I first put the installation cd in, it said that installation would take 20 minutes. I finished in less than 10. It took me about 2 days to get my Linksys to work. I wish I had purchased this first instead. Yes people, it's easier AND cheaper than a Linksys. I highly recommend.
