this was my first wifi router and i got it cause it was cheap. it did me good for having 2 wired computers and 3 gaming stations. but as time went on it did drop down in connection but still average of 60 to 68% strenght. still it amy drop[ connections and wasnt really made for gaming. the soppurt is great. installtion is a breeze even if your new. if you got to connect a laptop and 1 coputer it will be good enough but got more then go with a mimo or n.

We've never had a router before and we were on phone with Net Gear and our internet service company three different times for a total of about 6 hrs. Net Gear was very knowledgeable and good to work with but we didn't realize when we bought this that our internet service would charge an extra fee and wouldn't let us install us until we joined a service. Check that out before buying. Since installed there is no problems and works well.

This Netgear router is AMAZING - worth every penny

I purchased this router Friday 1/15/10. It took me about 10 minutes to read the instructions and do the physical installations (connecting the Ethernet cable from my PC to the router, connecting my modem to the router, and powering all three on), I powered the PC back on, inserted the CD that came with the router. Hit the on screen SETUP button and THAT WAS IT. Everything was done. Only thing I had to do when asked was to create a name and password for my secure wireless. THAT WAS IT. I had two PCs hard wired using 2 of the 4 ethernet ports on the router, my MAC laptop and my iPod Touch connected wirelessly and on the internet. All that within a matter of 30 minutes. I was amazed. It's been running for over 4 days without a problem. Plug-N-Play!! I am so amazed because for 5 years I had a Linksys router and was only able to get the wireless to work for about 3-4 weeks when I first got it. That was after returning one and getting another one. The installation software for the Linksys is ridiculous and way too cumbersome. For the past 5 years, it wasn't imperative that I get on wirelessly because I have 2 desk tops hard wired in. This coming summer will be the first time in 5 years that I can use my laptop out back. Page loads are faster with this Netgear router also. I keep connecting my ipod touch to verify internet connection...it's like pinching my self because I can't believe it was that easy... I should have bought this router long time ago. This router is worth every penny.

I brought this router in early January and got it for my PSP to play online. The installation was very quick and easy to understand. Once I got everything set up I went on the internet on my psp and noticed the speed was amazing. I was able to go quite some way before I lost my connection. The gameplay online was painless and quick. Overall, I would recommend this product if you need good speed and range.

I am tired of my linksys wrt54g because setup takes as long as an hour each time. Many times a day I get diconnected my labtop. So that is why I brought netgear too. After reading the reviews, I was amazed on how easy setup can be. Unlike linksys, this netgear only take me 5 minutes to setup, that's even without using their CD. So amazing! I love it, and it is so small and beautiful.

Good router, if you don't use the install CD

This router was super easy to install, setup and configure once I gave up on the install CD. I have installed one for my parents, who didn't have a router before, and one for myself who did. The installation CD did not complete the install in either case (my parents are on DSL and I'm on cable), but they both went without a hitch when I logged into the router manually using the URL on the bottom of the router. Neither router has given us any trouble and have been quick and reliable performers for months. I would buy another.

I was having a lot of difficulty with my Linskeys wireless router, and thier customer service was of no help either. I went in to Best Buy and the sales guy pointed this NetGear out to me, so I took a chance. It was incredibly easy to install, took only 15 minutes, and so far it has been working great. I would have given it a 5 star rating, but I've only had it for 4 days and am not sure of the longevity. I would definetly recommend buying this router, plus it's one of the least expensive ones on the market too!

the only down side to this router is that you can not detach and upgrade the antenna for grater range, however the range you get off the small antenna is very good and would cover most average sized homes. I am very happy with my router and it was a great price for what you get.

I didn't know much about routers, but I was told that Netgear was a good brand. The set up wasn't bad, but I did have trouble connecting to the internet at initial setup. I ran a test and then it was fine. I didn't put security on it and I think that is why I started having problems with my connection cutting out. I was unable to reconnect at one point and had to call Customer Support, which was very helpful. We put security on it and since then I haven't had any problems.

The router is very reasonably priced and performs as advertised. Setup instructions are clear. The appearance is modern but best of all it allows my granddaughter's notebook access to the internet with no problems. No sooner did I finish setting up the router on my desktop pc when, my granddaughter yelled from her room, "I'm on the internet!!!".

I was excited to purchased this item for the sole purpose to go wireless for my PS3. Its a great product, but occasionally drops your signal. Its sucks when this happens in the middle of being online. I have to say besides that its all good baby. Man i love the strength of the signal. It maintians to stay on for a good period of time. I have to say on a average maybe once or twice a month a signal will drop. I just re-test things to get it back up and running.

Their installation CD did not work at all on my Apple iMac computer, it would not load, but when I went on the Internet and used their quick setup and latest software patch download, it worked great. It has never locked up, or failed to connect. Every computer in my house and visitors computers, recognized the router and connected.

Well this router allows my computer to connect but drops the connection about 15-50 times a day and i have to reset the power for it to work again, very, very annoying. Maybe mine is flawed but i have lost my receipt and am not able to return it, it delivers good speeds though. Many people aren't having problems with it so thats good but keep your receipt is all i'm saying.

    Frequently Drops Signal

I've had this router for at least three years now, and after this amount of time I feel I can give an accurate review. This router is very outdated, obviously, so it wouldn't be fair to compare it to newer routers. However, during the time that I have had my router, it has been a pain in the neck to deal with. On any given day it will drop the wireless signal up to 5 times. I have to go up and down stairs constantly to reset it. This is not a new problem. It has been an issue since it was first purchased. When it wants to, it works and works just fine. It's just that the constant drops outweigh the amount of time the router spends functioning properly. There's also the issue of the variation of connection speeds throughout the house. If you move your device (laptop, gaming console, etc.) even a few feet, your connection speed may change drastically. It's not very consistent in that aspect. The only good thing that I can say about the router is that I have had it for at least three years and it has not died on me yet. As I said before, it's not fair to judge the router on speeds due to the fact that it is an older router; but if you are in the market for a good router, do not buy this one. Find one that has 802.11n capabilities. That's the best you can get as of right now. Any router that only supports a signal less than 802.11n, i.e. 802.11a,802.11b, or 802.11g, is not worth your time. That, of course, includes this router, as well. I hope this helps. Good luck.

I only gave the router 4 stars because the setup was impossible for me with satellite internet. The setup cd did not work at all. Thank goodness the Geek Squad was available. It took even my Geek over 30 minutes to configure the router. However once configured, it performs well and I have had no trouble with it whatsoever. My Geek did mention that the setup cd was worthless. Good product! Too bad I had to add $85 to the cost of the router for setup.

My daughter set one up without my help so I got one for my in-laws who needed one. Make sure you get Version 10; it works the best with WIN 7. You can tell by looking at the box (WGR614v10). Speed and throughput are fast for downloading files and emails. Put a second laptop on the network using the PIN# on the router which made it so easy. The iPod touch was also easy to connect with. Power extremely good going from basement to Laptop upstairs. Setup was longer than expected. That could be because I have not used Win 7 before. For the money I would say this is the best value for basic home wireless networking.

This works great once you get it set up. We had trouble getting this thing going and even had it packed up to be returned. However, we tried again another night and after about an hour had it working. It kept saying we needed to contact our Internet company, but we didn't. So, all in all, the set up took some time. Since we've got that all done it has worked perfectly and would definitely recommend it to friends. Great product for the price.

This product has been awesome. I use it for the PS3 and it has always has had 100% signal NEVER any disconnection. I have tried different routers, people have suggested Linksys I went through two of those and a Buffalo, Net Gear has proven to be the best and it's price is awesome for the quality, Definetly recommended.
