Visually beautiful

This is a visually stunning movie, despite the subject matter. This is not, IMHO, a great war movie. It is a good movie, however, and I enjoyed watching it. Gina Lollabrigida role seems contrived just to get her on bill. Steve McQueen does a wonderful job, not surprisingly, with his role.
