I purchased the 2DS XL because I feel into depression and this really helped get out of it it made me have great memories from when I was a kid it was the best decision I made at the time, and it worked perfectly.

Never used the 3D function on my old 3DS so this was great. The screen is better on this one and the battery life is great.

I went from a 2016 DS lite, and the screen on this new 2DS XL is aweful, it is so washed out and low quality. I would recommend getting a 3DS XL instead, the 3D is cool every once in a while and I would recommend looking for one with an IPS display, just google IPS vs TN on 3DS units and you will see a huge difference. I don't think the 2DS XL is worth it at all. The build quality feels a lot cheaper than the 3DS and the speaker position is not very good, the 3DS has them next to the screen. Unless you want to save $50 on this, I wouldn't think twice about getting a 3DS XL instead of this. I attached some pictures of a TN vs IPS screen (on the 3DS XLs) but it is the same difference with the 2DS XL.

My son has an older 3DS that his uncle gave him. I just bought this for myself because I wanted a 2DS or 2DS XL (went with XL obviously). I chose this because even though it costs more, it's a little bit more compact and the screens are bigger. For me, that's more important to see the screen easier.
Compared to my son's 3DS XL, I love it! The overall size is smaller, but it has more buttons and I like the layout for everything. The purple color is my favorite color I have seen for one of these.
Anyway, I bought this so that we could spend more time together playing games until I buy a new Xbox One X (sold my old Xbox One).
It's a lot of fun to link up and play games with or against him. I'm a little sad to see that there are so few games available in store, but the 3DS/2DS aren't going anywhere anytime soon so I know I can buy them online or at other stores.
I would say that these are a good value at $150 plus tax.
Battery life is pretty excellent, sound is decent, and the slot for the game cartridge is in such a better spot...the back of the 3DS XL sucks because you can accidentally pop the game out...my son does (he fidgets a lot).
I'm a huge Mario fan so I bought this and New Super Mario Bros 2. Also, this comes with Mario Kart 7 already installed, so that is a win in my book.

First of all, no one uses the stereoscopic 3D functionality of the 3DS and Nintendo has taken notice otherwise this device wouldn’t have come to fruition. The New Nintendo 2DS XL is hands down the best device produced during the 3DS era as it packs the largest screens available into a slim/light package with a folding screen for easy pocketability and protection.

Bought these for my boys for Christmas to play in the car or when we were over visiting family. The move the Nintendo games and the XL screen makes it very easy to see. Each of my boys got one so it was cool because they were able to sync up and play each other in Mario kart without having to be on a wifi network together. They could play it in the car and that made the trip go so much faster. Battery life is good right out of the box but just like all other electronic devices, the more you play, the sooner the battery life runs out and it seems like we are having to charge it much more frequently. My boys have a great selection of games and we bought them cases to hold all of them so they have them all available when we are on the road. So far no major issues with the system itself. It was a great purchase.

Nice 2DS system. Nice big screen. Easy to download games and add games to console. Overall great console. Few things to note: cartridge door is a little trickier than previous original non-hinged 2ds model; this hinged version feels different in playing than original non-hinged 2ds model; stylus is shorter than non-hinged previous 2ds model; home button a little harder to find than previous non-hinged original 2ds model. These differences haven't generally been an issue for me, but just something to note. However, it's a really nice 2ds system overall and glad I got it.

A coworker said, you can play those on your phone. No, not the good stuff. Not the way it's meant to be played. Not with amiibo support, a 3d camera and not to mention, no hassle. It works. It works well. The screen is so much better than the original 2ds. And with the faster processor, games load so much faster. Badge arcade was once dreaded because of the slow load times. Now, not at all. Other improvements for other games and more real estate to view them and with a free game to boot, what's not to love. The only complaint is the hinge. It isn't as sturdy as the new 3ds xl , but as a whole the system is thinner and lighter. And the home button is in a better place. If you haven't got one, go get it. Don't say, well I have a switch I don't need it. Yes you do. The games are rich and fun. Your not mindlessly shooting zombies like so many triple a games on other systems. Your having fun, like you did as a child. Remember fun?

Very easy to use and excellent to play 3DS games. I never was a fan of the 3D on the 3DS anyway. $50 cheaper and more compact. Plus, the purple is a really cool color.

The last handheld gaming system I had was a DS Lite, back when it first came out. I got away from playing for a while, but recently I started getting nostalgic for some old Pokemon games. Torn between this and the Switch, I ultimately decided to go with the 2DS XL because of the catalog of available games. I love the large screen and clear graphics. It also seems to have a much longer battery life compared to my boyfriend's Switch when we're playing near each other. Overall, this was a great purchase.

Now mind you as a child from the 90s, gameboy has always been my way of life. To see a portable device now as a home console any fool can understand this is the new path gaming will go. That being said the 2DS xl is perfect edition to any nintendo collector or any video game enthusiasts. Especially without the annoyance of the 3DS effects on the eye it’s great just to play a comfortable on the go device, but unbeatable price. Can game with the kids or solo around during a lunch break ;). A win win!

This is excellent. Same visual screen size as the 3ds xl, can play the same games and is a bit lighter. If you don't mind not having the 3d feature in the one screen, this is by far the best bang for your buck.
Not worth a deduction in stars, but wish the color options were a bit better. But the black on blue looks good enough.

If you already have a New 3DS, there isn't a tremendous reason to pick this up, but if you have an old 2DS, or if your 3DS has reached EOL, this is a fantastic replacement for it. It includes everything you need, including the charger, and the only thing missing is the somewhat hokey 3D feature.

Even though it doesn’t have the 3D feature it’s perfectly fine. Many will probably agree with me that it was gimmicky anyway. You can still play the same great games with the same screen size, and it carries the same features as the “new” 3DS models. It may not feel as “premium” as the current new 3DS model but it’s still of high quality (much better than the old 3DS XL and significantly more than the old 2DS)

I really like the color of this system it’s exactly what my son who is 6 needs. The 2ds xl has a beautiful big screen compared to the regular 3ds/2ds screen and the battery last long. This is actually my sons first system he loves it for the size and games he can play especially the Mario games get this for any kiddie beginning their gamer experience.

Best Model of 3DS, with Caveats

Every model of 3DS has the same annoying problem. The dust caught between screens scratches faint lines onto the top screen. The reason for this is the bottom screen's protrusion from the otherwise flat surface of the 3DS. In order to combat this, after the original 3DS model, they kept making the bumps separating the screens slightly larger, but even on the New 3DS XL, it wasn't completely fixed. With the new 2DS XL, it was changed so the bottom screen is flush, so this problem no longer exists.
If you don't care about the 3D feature, the matte finish, slightly higher-quality speakers, or the low-light camera quality, the New 2DS XL is for you.

This is the best model of all 2DS and 3DS handhelds. I never cared for the 3DS screen as I rarely used it. The battery life is better than the 3DS and it's lighter, and you can't go wrong with the "NEW" 2DS XL version since it can play all games new and old.
