Great film. I was one of a few people in my circle that felt 70's Music was played out and WLIR was the only place we found cool music that found it's way onto an infant MTV and became the foundation of the GREATEST Decade of all time: The 80's. BUY THIS DVD!!!

This movie tells the story of WLIR 92.7, one of the last truly independent commercial radio stations in America. WLIR played a critical role in the rise of "new wave" music in the 80's, AND was the center of a vibrant local music scene populated by kids who lived for this music. It was owned by a local man and struggled to stay alive financially, hobbled by a limited signal that didn't entirely reach NYC from its home in suburban Nassau County, Long Island. The rest of America deserves to know how bands like the English Beat came to them: washed up on our shores by shows like Off The Boat, featuring imported songs that WLIR staff literally plucked off a boat from England and rushed to the studio. The movie is the story of WLIR, its people and the bands that made New Wave a movement. You'll laugh, you'll cry. If you ever cared about radio, New Wave or punk music, or rock n roll, you want to see this.
