Smart dash cam bundle with exciting potential

Nextbase iQ 4K is a smart dash cam bundle that includes 3 channel 4K front camera, a 2K infrared cabin camera, and a 2K rear camera. The build quality is solid and the design is sleek. The package includes the two cameras (front + cabin and rear), OBD power cable, fuse cable, rear camera cable, mounting bracket, adhesive pads, and the user guide. The microSD card is already installed on the front camera. The wiring installation is not the easiest, but also not complicated. If you have installed dashcams before, you might be comfortable with concealing the cables easily. Make sure you watch the installation videos. Download MyNextbase iQ app as you need it to set up the cameras and access live views. There are no on-screen displays. The cameras can only be operated via hands free voice control or the app itself. The front camera has a built-in 4G SIM that helps with real time videos on the go. The videos can be accessed using the SD card or via the app. The SD card is secured on the cam that it might feel like a hassle to remove it every time you need to access the videos. Using the app, you can set up the sensory field to detect any movements and send you instant notification. This Smart Sense parking mode will also begin recording as soon as the proximity alert triggers. There is also Guardian mode which helps in monitoring your car's excessive speed or the area the car is travelling in. This is helpful when you leave the car with others like valet or mechanic, etc. Another useful feature is the Witness mode, which can be activated using voice command. When activated, the system will send the live feed of your video to your emergency contact. The camera will also record for 30 minutes. All these smart features need an active subscription to enable the 4G connectivity and AI mode. The iQ also comes with additional features like cloud storage and remote access. I do feel the app and 4G connectivity to be slower at times. These can be updated via firmware/software updates. Overall, this can be a great connected security system for your car.

I purchased this camera because I appreciated the convenience of receiving notifications about incidents and viewing them without being in the car. However, it has been a significant disappointment, particularly because a subscription is required to fully utilize all its features. Then after you pay the subscription cost, the camera network doesn’t work half the time. The video quality sucks and no night vision. If I were still able to, I would immediately return this camera.

Be prepared before buying this at Best Buy by knowing the product as the salesperson and installer provided incorrect information in which they told both my wife and I all the features on the Dashcam and when asked on any monthly cost basically we told no for all the features we wanted. Basically this needs a subscription for even the most basic features. Waste of money

I have been searching for a dash cam for a while. I decided to try out this one. The quality of the actual cameras is very good. They have some weight to them, not light and plasticky feeling. Because of the extreme heat here, I’m a little concerned about the adhesive staying in place. The camera is a lot bigger than I thought it would be. The cameras came with a lot of wires. I have to say, the directions were not great. There were videos that I had to watch which made instillation look so easy. For me, it was not. There was lots of trial and error. I ended up having to get help. I had a real hard time with the rear camera, because of the way my rear window on my SUV is set up. I do have a concern on whether or not this will drain my battery. So far I can’t tell. The picture quality is great. I am pleased with it so far. When I’m in certain areas I am not able to communicate well with my phone. There is some lag. I have only used it a few times, but so far it works great. I have no complaints other than the directions. I need more details. As for safety, I love it. When traveling to different sporting events and having to park and leave my vehicle in different lots, I feel so much better. My only wish is that it was more portable to move from vehicle to vehicle. I’m hoping I never have to use for theft or anything but glad I have it.

One of the things I first noticed about this camera was the fact that it gives 4K resolution footage. Some cameras offer grainy footage where you can hardly make out the fine details, this camera would be sure to give you all the details of an incident if need be. This camera offers a front view, cabin view and a rear view. The front view is 4K resolution while the interior camera offers 2K. The rearview camera is that extra line of protection that will give the vehicle all around coverage. I like the fact that when your ignition is off, it still records. With the AI feature, it gives remote access with LTE the remote ability to keep your camera connected. The “Speak through IQ”, gives you the capability to say what you need without looking for buttons as well as the witness mode. The only thing you need to do is say “Start witness mode”. This feature will start live footage with a person you choose. I like this feature because you can start live footage when you anticipate you are going to need help as well as evidence. The camera is able to give emergency SOS which will dial and share your location as well as give medical information. This is a wonderful camera for people that drive others around for a living but some of the features do require a monthly membership. You can setup and adjust a lot of the settings in the IQ app. I have mine setup to notify me when someone is close to my vehicle and it will send me an alert and when I click on it, it takes me directly to the app and streams the video. The multiple cameras have you covered outside, inside and behind your vehicle. This is a perfect device for delivery, taxi and young drivers. You cannot go wrong with this camera it has multiple functionalities and it is especially easy for the novice. This is by far the most premium dash cam I’ve used and I highly recommend it.

This is a truly comprehensive dashcam package, providing everything you need to fully equip your vehicle with technology that offers monitoring and safety in situations one hopes never to encounter, but which can be a reality for modern motorists. What really drew me into this camera was the fact that you have both front, cabin, and rear window cameras all ready to go in a synchronized system. I don’t like mixing and matching monitoring technologies, whether for home security or car security, so this kit suited me nicely. I was also appreciative of the fact that I had multiple options for wiring power to this webcam, both OBDII and a hardwire kit option. This flexibility is outstanding since I am running an overland truck set up and I have wires running all over the place for radios, extra lights, etc. and wanted to have maximum flexibility in my dash cam set up. There are only a few detractions to this setup that I will mention. First of all, this Webcam is huge! I managed to get it slightly tucked away behind my rearview mirror, but it is a bulky piece of tech and definitely stands out visually on the windshield. The other thing I noticed is that the app is sometimes super slow to respond and getting videos off of the webcam via the wifi/Bluetooth connection is brutally slow. I am sure this can be worked on with a firmware update, but I just wish this is something that worked better out of the box.

4K+2K Dashcam: anything less would be uncivilized!

In 2019-2020 I bought my first dash cam. I wonderful 1080p front & rear camera system. But I knew as soon as a decent 4K dashcam came out that I would be replacing them. And so I did in 2021 or 2022 but it was only a 4K front facing camera. I have been needing a rear facing camera because I feel like the car isn't nearly as protected as it should be with just a forward facing camera. Enter the Nextbase iQ 4K Smart Dash Cam with the 1440p (2K) rear facing camera. Unboxing & First Impressions This is not my first Nextbase dash cam. I have had 3 now with these set. All of them have been wonderful. It's just that I love testing new tech and so I replace my dash cameras, since they are relatively inexpensive, about 1x per year via an upgrade which I then pass along to my significant other, or my sons, or my mom, or my significant others parents. Everyone in our immediate family has a dash cam now. I love how sleek, elegant, but not gawdy the Nextbase cameras always look. This one is larger than my previous ones because it has the 4G LTE built into the front dash cameras base (notice the antenna on each side of the dash cam) but it's not intrusive as long as you do like I did and mount it up near the top of the windshield. Rating: 5/5 Initial Setup & Installation I have installed many dash cameras over the past 6-ish years; ranging from compact coupes to sprawling SUVs and so I knew what I was in for but truly the installation is not difficult at all. I love that Nextbase gives me different options to install the dash cam system (fuse tap or via the OBD2 port). Usually they have the 12v DC adapter or you have to buy a fuse tap or the OBD2 adapter. So the fact that Nextbase though ahead for it's customers really blew me away. Since my previous dash cam was ran to the driver side fuse panel I went about routing the iQ 4K's cabling to the same spot. I then went the other direction with the cable for the rear facing camera going across the headliner, down the pillar, across the passenger side flooring to the back of the car, back up the pillar, along the headliner and to the back hatch glass (of my 2025 Nissan Z). I had everything installed & plugged in in less than 45 minutes. I think if you watch a YouTube video on how to install it on your car you too can get it done in less than 1 hour. You'll want to make sure to unplug your car's battery if you are going to be working near the airbags on the car & you'll want to run the cabling BEHIND the airbags (NOT in front of them because if you put the cabling in front of the airbags then you could cause the airbags to change their path and therefore cause your car to be less safe). Rating: 5/5 Daily Driving I like my dash cam to be a set it & forget it until you need it type of device. And I was able to set up the iQ 4K to be just that. It records when I am away, it records while I am driving, and it is just there-out of site, out of mind until I need to pull a video off. I don't like a dash cam that is overly talkingative (beeping, booping, and constantly telling me it is there) and I must say the iQ 4K has been perfect for my needs. Rating: 5/5 Video Quality While I would love for the front & the rear cameras to both be 4K, I have made it 6 years with anything but and so I am totally OK with it being 4K front and 2K rear. That said if/when Nextbase comes out with a 4K rear I will be pulling the 2K out and replacing it with a 4K rear camera. I truly hope they come out with one that is compatible with this front camera system because I know some dash cam manufacturers will dump their current lineup to then just release an updated one that has no backwards compatibility at all. I don't believe I have seen Nextbase do this yet, but I could be wrong. But here is hoping they build on this system and don't just scrap it. Anywho, the video quality is great! Whether it was daytime, nighttime, sunset, sunrise, etc. the image quality was great. We were comparing my old 4K dash cam videos with the ones from the iQ 4K and the iQ 4K looked to be more clear, with license plates more easily legible. We did an unfair comparison of the iQ 4K vs. a 4-channel 1080p system I put in each of my sons' cars and yeah, the iQ 4K absolutely blew it out of the water which is to be expected. Sure, the 4-channel video (1 front, 1 each side, and 1 rear) is great but still I'd rather have 4K front and 2K rear vs. 1080p 4-channel. I hope Nextbase will come out with the 4K front and rear like I said; but my pipedream would be 4K 4-channel. I think we are probably 4-5 years away from something like that but when the tech gets there I will definitely be checking out Nextbase first as they always seem to make great dash cams! Rating: 5/5 Conclusion Whether you don't currently have a dash cam, or you are replacing an older one, I cannot recommend the iQ 4K enough. Front the device's looks, to how it performs, to the video quality, it is all just absolutely amazing. Nextbase really knows how to build a wonderful dash cam! Rating: 20/20

NextBase iQ DashCam Front and Rear

This DashCam set comes with a front and rear camera to capture everything in and around your vehicle. Talk about security!! These cameras cover most everything imaginable for your vehicles safety. This comes with wiring and everything needed for the two different ways you can hook it up to power and plenty of wiring for having the cameras just where you want them. I like that the front camera of the vehicle also has the interior camera which your cheaper dash cams don’t necessarily have. You can view what is going on in the vehicle itself, and should it get stolen it is capable of actually getting a picture/video of who is stealing your vehicle to help the police apprehend and identify them. The two different ways to get the cameras powered are hardwiring it (seemed way to difficult for me and probably should be done professionally unless you are hard wiring savvy) or if you have a vehicle that has an OBD outlet. Now to begin with I had no idea what an OBD outlet was, so had to Google it and find out where it was on my Subaru vehicle. In order to set this up you need the iQ app for any installation as these did not come with any instructions. They only came with a QR code for a video of the installation (which only helped a little) and a QR code to download the app. Once you have the app and set up an account, it gives step by step instructions on where to put the cameras and gives you a view to see if it is at a good angle. That was the easy part. The hard part is hiding all that wiring. The installation video gives you a good idea on what to do and it takes a bit of common sense to figure out where to route the wiring. In all the installation took a good hour since it was bit of trial and error. If you know vehicles well, you could probably get it installed in a half an hour. I hid the wiring very well and you would not even know it was there unless you actually purposely looked for it and saw a few spots where the wiring showed a tiny bit. So proud of how well I hid the wiring with the little tool they give you to stuff it in available slots. Now when you are setting up the app and cameras, you will be asked if you want to set up a subscription or go without a subscription. I went with the lower priced subscription. To use this properly, you really do need this subscription which I think is very reasonable for all that it does. This subscription will save all your videos on a cloud for 30 days, give real time image notifications, witness mode, smart sense parking and a few other things that are VERY helpful for you. I feel this subscription is enough for what I need the cams for. If you travel quite a bit the higher priced subscription is probably the better way to go. The subscriptions are priced at $10 and $20 a month and you get two months free if you pay annually, so I believe the subscriptions are worth the very reasonable prices. I highly recommend this NextBase DashCam set. As a woman, I feel much safer while driving/traveling or leaving my car parked in large areas, such as parking garages, parking lots, etc. If I, with absolutely no idea of installing this dashboard cam, can do it so can you.

Great Dumb Dash cam, Disappointing Smart one

The Nextbase iQ is a two-camera system that records in 4K up front and 1440p in the rear. It comes with built-in GPS, voice control, and support for 4G LTE. While it looks like a high-end dash cam, it’s clearly aiming to be more than that. This is meant to be a connected, always-watching device for your car. You can stream live video, get motion and impact alerts when parked, and use the app to review footage or check in remotely. It’s trying to be the Ring camera equivalent for vehicles. Physically, the front camera is larger than typical dash cams. It includes the camera sensor, a small screen, a few capacitive touch buttons, and a mount that connects via an adhesive pad. The power and GPS cable connect through the mount, keeping things clean once installed. The rear camera is much smaller and connects to the front unit with a long cable that can be hidden behind trim if you’re doing a full install. The front unit also has a cabin facing camera. You can power the unit using either the OBD-II cable or hardwire kit. I went with the OBD-II option since it was faster to install and still provides full functionality including parked monitoring. It will draw a small amount of power while the car is off, but I haven’t seen any battery issues so far. Setup was mostly smooth. Once powered, the camera boots up and prompts setup through the Nextbase app. After pairing, you’ll go through a firmware update that took about 15 minutes on mine. After that, you can customize camera settings, sign up for a 4G LTE plan (optional), and choose how sensitive you want parking detection to be. A free plan subscription was included with my review. LTE activation was straightforward and worked within a few minutes of configuration in the app. But the LTE seemed pretty inconsistent. Video quality is excellent. The front camera records in 4K and does a good job capturing license plates and road signs during both day and night. HDR helps reduce glare. The rear camera is wide enough to cover the full rear view and captures more than enough detail to be useful. Audio quality is fine for spoken context but nothing special. One feature that works better than I expected is Smart Sense Parking Mode. The iQ detects when someone gets close to your vehicle and starts recording automatically. With LTE enabled, I also got alerts on my phone. In my testing, the system consistently recorded motion within a few seconds. The detection is good enough that I never worried about whether it had missed anything. The app gives access to live view, event recordings, and timeline history. You can download or share clips directly from your phone. Load times are not instant, especially for live view, and it seemed hit or miss whether you’d connect. I mean, eventually, I’d connect and start navigating through video, but playback or a live view would be jumpy like it was intermittently losing signal. Furthermore, the app doesn’t feel especially fast. There’s a short delay when opening it and navigating through menus. Alerts seemed to always get delivered so in that respect, I find the LTE connectivity nice for knowing something happened in real time. But there’s a lot of work still to be done to use this as a internet connected camera or to monitor what’s going on with someone borrowing your car in real time. The iQ comes with a 64GB microSD card with support up to 256GB. You’ll want to use one if you expect to keep high-resolution footage for longer. 64GB will give you about 90 minutes of recording before it starts to overwrite data. Honestly, I think this is fine for most use cases. My previous 1080p camera used 32GB and while on long trips, it would loop and erase older video that didn’t matter as I only care about footage that captures an event. The iQ has a similar feature you can activate with a voice command to protect a file. This will ensure that events are not lost. It will also automatically protect when a crash is detected which I could trigger with very hard braking. Despite the voice control, I found the capacitive button on the side to be quicker and more reliable. Voice commands were hit or miss depending on cabin noise. A few other areas for improvement. The front unit gets quite warm after a long drive or while parked in direct sun. It hasn’t shut down or thrown a warning, but it’s something to be aware of if you live in a hot climate. There’s no support for Apple CarPlay or Android Auto integration, so you can’t view alerts or recordings on your in-dash screen. Not a dealbreaker, but would’ve been a nice feature. The rear camera cable is also thinner than I expected and might be prone to wear if not routed carefully. Overall, the Nextbase iQ delivers as a high resolution dash cam with all the high end features that have been available since 2017 without needing to be tethered to your phone for GPS and other input. The 4G connectivity is what’s supposed to turn this into the true “smart” dash cam, but it fails on that front. Poor connectivity means all those things barely work or do so intermittently enough to be frustrating and cause you not to use it. About the only thing I found reliable was notifications and that actually works without the subscription. While 4K is definitely nice, I’ve found 1080p has been good in most daytime conditions if the camera sensor is good. 2K or 4K really shine at night. The improved rear cam resolution is nice, my previous set up used 720p. But I cannot recommend this for the smart features and without it, this is just a higher resolution version of the dash cam I’ve had for almost a decade. If you’re getting a new system today, by all means go for 4K. But I’d give this a pass until the smart features are a lot better baked. It’s not clear if the issue is firmware, hardware (poor antenna), network (maybe a service provider that sucks), or some combination of the three. I gave it three stars because objectively, this does a good job as a standalone dashcam. If that’s all it was, I’d give 4. But because it fails to deliver on a lot of it’s promises, 3 stars is a better representation of what someone who is choosing this camera can expect to experience.

This was the first time trying a Nextbase branded item but I was excited to give the Nextbase iQ 4K Smart Front and Rear Dash Cam with 4G LTE and GPS system a try. I had been interested in having a front dash cam installed in my vehicle but wanted to make sure I chose something reliable. Installation was fairly simple but I'll admit that if I didn't have someone I trusted to help me I wouldn't have tried it myself as it would have taken a lot longer and been more frustrating for me. Setup was simple. The 4K resolution is top notch (far better than I expected when compared to other dash cams I have seen used by friends). We are in a world where it is becoming increasingly necessary to pay for a monthly subscription to get the best out of any tech device you purchase and this dash cam system is no different. That's absolutely something worth keeping in mind because unfortunately in order to get full access to the full multitude of features that make this unit a good option you will need to be comfortable committing to a subscription. For some, the peace of mind will make it worth it.

The Nextbase iQ 4K dash cam bundle is one of the best dash cams I have ever used, just be aware that to take advantage of all of the "Smart" features, you do need to subscribe to their monthly service. So the iQ features a 4K front facing camera, 2K cabin camera, and 2K rear window camera. It also comes with a 64GB SD card pre-installed, and all hardware needed for installation. Installation seems daunting at first, but it really wasn't very hard at all. First, you download the iQ app, and follow some quick setup steps. Then it walks you through the entire installation process, complete with diagrams and videos. They include a little spudger type tool to help tuck away the cable along your vehicle trim. Installation took a total of about 30-45 minutes in my case, but I was going extra slow and tucking the cable gave me a little trouble in some areas of my car. But in the end, I was pretty happy with how installation turned out. The front camera was much bigger than I expected it to be, however, if you place it where they recommend, it is pretty out of the way of your view. The actual camera itself really isn't very big, but the part that sticks to your window, and I guess has the cellular radio in it and stuff, is pretty chunky. The rear window camera is relatively small, and doesn't get in the way at all. The picture quality on all 3 of the cameras is really great. The 4K camera is of course the best, and captures amazing detail, which is perfect for the main cam since you want to be able to make out details like license plates or get clear pictures of faces and things. The cabin and rear cameras are both 2K, but still get nice clear video. If you don't want to pay for the monthly iQ service, then this is pretty much the end. In order to view or save your footage, you'll have to take the memory card out of the device and load it up on a computer. However, if you do pay for the service, you get to take advantage of all the great smart features this camera offers. That includes live video, notifications, cloud storage, and more. The live video was really impressive. I wasn't sure what to expect, but the first time I got a notification on my phone, I clicked it and I was very surprised to be taken straight to a live feed of my wife driving home. The quality isn't the greatest since it's streaming over 4G and not 5G, but it's still clear enough to see what's going on. And all video is still stored in 4K or 2K on the device or in the cloud. The camera even still functions while the car is parked, detecting motion or other events near the car. Great for security purposes. You can even set speed notifications if for instance you have a teen driver and what to keep tabs on their speed. There are so many features in the app that are really useful. I think it's worth it to at least try out the subscription to get a better idea of everything this camera can do. Luckily, Nextbase does include a free trial with every camera. If you decide you don't like paying a monthly fee, the main function of this camera is still worth it in my opinion. You still get 3 great camera that feature really good picture quality. You'll just have to get the footage off of the SD card, like most other dash cams, which isn't all that bad. Overall I am very happy with this dash cam bundle. I really appreciate all of the smart features, even if it means I'll have to pay yet another monthly subscription.

I’ve used several Nextbase dashcams over the last few years, starting with the 322, then the 622 and they’ve done pretty well by me. Most recently I got the opportunity to test the latest generation Nextbase iQ 4K smart Front and Rear Dashcam combo with 4G and GPS. It is a much more advanced dashcam system that’s meant to be more of a 24x7 car audio/video monitoring system for all intents and purposes. What makes this dashcam so much different is its intelligent AI/iQ capabilities that unfortunately require a subscription that pays for both the 4G LTE connectivity with a built-in SIM card and for the AI features and cloud storage that only work with a paid monthly subscription plan that currently costs $6.99/mo for the basic Protect plan or $9.99/mo for the Protect Plus plan. Installation is not too difficult if you’re a bit handy and follow their step by step in-app instructions. They include a long power cable that can reach to the OBDII port under the steering wheel column or the fuse box for always-on connectivity. They also include an even longer cable for the rear camera, probably about 24 feet long. This installation could be more difficult if you’ve never routed wires through your car’s dash, trim, kick panel. Using the plastic car trim tool is a plus that will help you guide and route the rear camera wire all the way to the back window. This camera system is much bigger than your typical dashcams, mainly because it pretty much comes with a 4G LTE hotspot that’s the round speaker base with two antennas that attach to your windshield with the included 3M adhesive pads. The actual camera hangs down from the hockey puck size base. Much like any other smart camera, it requires the use of your phone w/Bluetooth and WiFi enabled for initial setup and viewing live video feeds or recorded clips. Video quality and sound recording is great, definitely a couple of steps up from my old 1080p dashcams. Unfortunately all the great, intelligent features this camera has to offer are totally dependent on the paid subscription - real-time image notifications, live view, witness mode, remote alarm, cloud storage, emergency SOS, automated incident back-up, (roadwatch AI, guardian mode - coming soon). I wish they allowed most of those features to work over WiFi while connected to your phone or home WiFi while parked which would be a lot faster than the spotty 4G connection. You’re better off removing the pre-installed 64 GB SDcard and viewing the recordings on your PC. I personally can’t justify the nearly $500 price tag for this camera system, plus the additional on-going subscription cost. Iff money is not an issue for you, then the Nextbase iQ 4K Smart Front and Rear Dashcam combo with 4G LTE and GPS is an impressive car monitoring/security system.

This dash cam bundle is one that I'm impressed with it has so many features to it that makes it very worth while and just to name a few which are the smart sence parking which is a 24/7 protection on your car or truck that lets you see everything going on around it along with fliming, the emergency SOS for if your in an accident and unresponsive the team willl call for the police or ambulance, the in cabin veiw, hands free voice and witness mode to catch the odd road raggers for the police just to name a few. Some of the features you do have to have a subscription for but hey they are worth it to hel keep you safe when driving. The only issues that I did have with it was the installing of it as there is not just enough information to show you how to even in the video they show as not all cars are the same, So with that said if your one that's not to inclined to try to put one in be ready to find someone who can do it for you which I had to get some help doing so on mine. It does take some time to install but in the long run it's worth it, the only other thing that I did have an issue with is the fact it comes with a sim card and sd card both of which are preinstalled and very well hidden the SD card is something that you should be able to remove to veiw any footage on your pc of to copy for the police /lawyer /court for evidance. Other than thosse two things this is a 100% get for anyone.
