Fingers crossed i can get a replacement. I usually love this brand, this is 2 of 3 sytems ive bought from this brand!

Furthermore description should have stated which specific hard drives are actually acceptable for the unit. Finally there should have been an option before the checkout for that storage drive. It would have saved a lot of energy and efforts spent on looking up what drives are compatible spending hours on the phone with night owl to get compatibility chart.

Posted .Hi Vlad. The product description, specifications, images and marketing content all indicate that a hard drive is not included with all models and that customers can add their own hard drive. We also list the max HDD size. We do not recommend specific brands of hard drives, nor do we sell hard drives. This DVR unit without a hard drive is intended for customers who may be replacing/upgrading a previous unit and will be using their existing HDD, or for customers who want to fully customize their system and install their own hard drive. We do our best to make that as utterly clear as possible in our content. We also sell standalone DVRs that come with Pre-Installed hard drives as well. We are sorry you were not clear on this.
Wrong system

New camera system has wires an cables. My old original system is wireless so it will be returned. Glad gas is so cheap cause this will be my 3rd or 4th trip down now.

Posted .The packaging clearly states that this is a wired system. Night Owl has an extensive product line including Wired, Wireless, Wire Free, and Hybrid systems. It is always a good idea to carefully read the information on the package as it contains important details. Thank you!

Posted .The product states it has customizable storage as some customers like to add a larger hard drive then comes with our devices. It is always important to carefully read product descriptions and to do research. This review has no reflection on the product.

What’s the purpose of having it, if it doesn’t record.

Posted .Hi Tara. It states that it does not come with a pre-installed hard drive, like our other models do. Some customers choose to customize their storage by installing their own hard drive. Additionally, if a customer is replacing an older model, often they can transfer over their existing hard drive. Selling this standalone DVR without a hard drive allows them to easily to do. Watching live or recorded video is more like pictures played in series then watching video. The Samsung system I purchased 8yrs ago outperforms this thing is every way except storage. The app is also trash. Recently the app fails to connect to the DVR and customer service cannot remedy the issue.
