Glad to have this item. Wiring is the challenge for me.

The picture was not clear. I could not make out the license plates of cars in driveway.

If you are looking for a security camera system with good picture quality this is not it. That cameras are plastic and poorly made.

Purchased the system at best buys and installed it myself. Any Tom, Dick, Or Harry can install it. The hardest part was waiting on hold for tech support to tell me my password was to long. You can not have a password longer then eight characters for the mobile app to work. Also be careful when you setup the notifications bugs will set off the camera and you will get alerts all night. 700 alerts the first night. The quality of the camera are good up to about 30ft. I know the box says 100ft.....they lied. I did a ton of research for the money the night owl was the best i found.

I purchase the night owl a week ago, the set up was easy. Some reviews was complaining about the Night owl HD app, that it doesn't work but that's not true. They don't know how to setup the remote access correctly. All you have to do is login to your router on your computer and add the port to it. Then on your phone when adding your DVR just look up your phone IP address, add the IP address to IP field leave the port as is, enter the password if any, then press enter. The instructions doesn't explain this which is reason why people are confuse. The cameras works great so far.

The system is great, everything works well and is a good value for the money. There is one significant shortcoming with the Push Alert feature. Push alerts can either be ON all the time, or OFF all time, that’s it, there’s no way to schedule an ON/OFF time period for push alerts. So, for example, I want push alerts while I’m away from home during the day, but I don’t want push alerts while I’m home sleeping at night. Too bad, they’re either ON or OFF, so I’d need to access the system management console twice a day to change the setting, or leave it set to ON or OFF all the time. Well, even with motion sensitivity set to minimal, unfortunately even a moth can fly past the camera at 3am and trigger a push alert; or a car’s headlights, or a deer, etc. How will I ever sleep through the night again if I leave push alerts ON, but if they’re set to OFF so I can sleep, what good is a system that doesn’t send alerts during the day while I’m away. I understand not everyone will see this as a problem for their needs, but I think some will take issue. NightOwl Technical Support confirmed the deficient functionality and accepted the suggestion of including a scheduling feature in a future firmware enhancement. I have their wireless system as well, and oddly it has the very useful scheduling feature this system needs.

Easy enough to install, must have a power source in attic, used a surge protector & heavy extension cords then mounted cameras. Absolutely beautiful images, fine detail, great resolution day & night. Problem is not being able to play back recordings on phone & lap top. WTH good is a security system that I can't see the playback when I am not home? I GOT A SECURITY SYSTEM BECAUSE I AM NOT HOME! I can watch the most beautiful images live all day on laptop & phone but only the night time events will download. Events will replay though from the DVR at the home & are very clear. Had to make arrangements w/neighbor to be at my house, while I am out of town & for level 2 tech support to call at scheduled appointment time. Three months for tech support to tell me the app isn't working, they are aware & working on it. BAD TECH SUPPORT!!

Very frustrating having no functionality and being sent a non functional device out of the box. Going back to Best Buy within 1 hour of purchasing this system for the immediate return. I have had enough. Worst possible outcome on this purchase for me, total time waste. Most expensive option was the worst.
