I chose this camera FIRST for it's Pink color, I admit it, a fashion accessory maybe but I love it. It is practical if you are like me and it is buried at the bottom of your purse. I took my new pink camera on it's first trial by fire outing to the one place I thought it would be most challenged. I am on a Roller Derby team and we had a scrimmage at our local Sponsors bar...Dark, bright spot lights facing this way and that, a few spinning lights...girls skating in circles...it had a workout! 2 hours of solid use.
Did really well as far as video in this situation. The LCD display is amazing. The picture quality is really good, as is the video. Sound is pretty good too. Imagine a loud scene many voices yelling, echoing, announcer. When I was yelling it did not blow out the mic either. I give it lots of credit there. Now, I went 'dummy style' cause that's how I roll, I did not read the directions, nor could I see the dials. So it was truly all on the camera that it did a good job. I found I LOVE the "moving picture" #Panoramic# EASY!! Looks cool too.
I was looking for something small, but with the lens options that were easier to carry than my Canon EOS 7D. I have been taking pictures for 25+ yrs. I am not a pro by any means. I took a few classes, but half the time I am on auto, because it works for my fast n furious life.
I really liked this camera...except one MAJOR flaw. NO GRIP! Nothing, Nada, ZILCH! for that one reason it will be going back. :# I am sad about this, but at $700ish, I know it will go crashing to the ground because I was rushing and didn't put the wrist strap on. Can't have that. My other small concern was the E.T. like flash. I get why it has to pop up-to get out there with the light. But I fear I would snap that off in the heat of the moment as well. Lastly, not dust proof, or tough. I am replacing a (pink-duh# Olympus stylus tough that is dying. And though this takes great pics/video...I think I will continue to search or wait for these to evolve. The pictures were crystal clear--not sure if this is that mirror less part or what. I may goof with it a bit more under more controlled circumstances, but foresee it going back within a day or two unless it blows my mind with more testing. Then I guess I have to buy a set of bathroom non-slip sticky things and slap one on the front of a $700 camera! ugh!
I think this style of camera is on the right track--there is a market out there. But a bit more thought needs to go into it. I read many reviews and took a chance. I am glad I did, it proved to be a possible future purchase when they evolve a bit more.
