I recently shot photos at a birthday party and this lens was perfect for close up and portraits. Better than all my other lenses. If you are looking for something to catch a close up of those baby blue eyes this is the perfect lens.

I'm just expanding my skills in photography and wanted an inexpensive macro lens that I could learn that style of shooting from. This little gem fits that purpose extremely well. The quality of shots is really good for a lens this inexpensive. It's easy to use and can also serve as a passable prime lens. If you're like me and want to use photography as a hobby, then this little macro lens from Nikkor is for you.

I'm new to "prime" lenses in the dslr world am not a professional by any stretch of the imagination. My wife originally bought me the 35mm lens for Christmas and then I exchanged it for the 50mm lens. However, I take more closeup shots of flowers etc. and the 50mm won't let you get in real close. After doing some more research and talking to the great folks at Best Buy, I decided this 40mm macro lens was for me. Great decision. I love it and would recommend it to a friend. My only complaint is that it's a f2.8 rather than an f1.8 but hey, one can't have it all. The price was excellent. My next lens will be the 85mm lens.

This is a great close up lens for Nikon DSLR owners. Especially those looking to widen their lens collection, the beginner. Great for flowers, portraits, food, etc. The manual focus is great. The clarity on close up objects is great as well. With the sharp pictures, color and contrast, you will definitely want to pick up this lens, I mean, you can't beat that price.

I've wanted a macro lens for a long time and the focal length on this one is great. Nikon glass is always good quality and I'm happy with the purchase and the price.
A buddy bought this lens when it was first released. And I loved it then. But never bought it. I found one at my local Best Buy on sale and snapped it up. I regret nothing.

Works really well for nature shots. Mostly used for flowers, bees and such. Love the clarity and detail I can get with it.

Paired this with the Nikon D7200 for photographing coins and jewelry. Sure does a nice job!

This is an excellent lens for the price. The auto-focus is a bit touchy and slow, but I usually shoot manual anyway. Very pleased with this lens.

I used this on my D3400 and found I was able to focus on small objects down to just a couple of inches away even in low light conditions. The images stood up to extreme magnification and were in focus all the way to the point where I could see individual pixels. All in all the best macro lens I've owned and great value for the price.

I love this lens so much. It is my very first macro lens and I was super excited to get it. It works very well, and I really like that it can switch between the two focus abilities.

This lens turns lackluster photos into rich colorful images.

I take a lot of close ups of morel mushrooms and other fungi. It does what I need it to do. Nice bokeh for 2.8. Take a chance with this one, you will be pleasantly surprised.

I wanted a lens to take macro photos without spending a fortune and this lens fit the bill. It takes great up close pictures. And the price can't be beat. The only issue I have had with the lens is focusing. If you do not use a tripod you need to make sure there is plenty of light so you can use a faster shutter speed. Overall this is a good lens, and perfected for my needs.

I have really enjoyed getting up close and personal with things. The details brought out by the Micro lense is phenomenal.

I was looking for a lens to add to my bag, for my photo shoots. Especially for my wedding shoots. Amazing picture of the rings.

I did a lot of research before deciding on this lens. Wanted something to take closeup photos without spending a fortune. Took a photo of a plant outside and when I looked closer at the photo there was a little baby gecko on it! I zoomed in and the little guy was so clear and in focus! So far I love this lens!

At the beginning I was not very sure to buy a macro lens, I thought that my 50mm was enough for macro/commercial jewelry photography. But thanks god I changed my mind and bought this 40mm and there is a HUGE difference. Great for flowers and commercial photos, for insects you will need a 105mm.
