Great lens which provides high quality picture performance when paired with one of Nikon's Full frame DSLR's. Personally I use the D600 and have got excellent results with the lens in many scenario's - High School Show Choir performances and competitions as well as family every day use.

This Nikon lens does not get a lot of respect because it is considered a kit lens. Fortunately that keeps its price down. However, this is a great walk around lens and it is sharp. On a DX it may not be wide enough but it will take care of most shots.

When I got my D7100 I knew I needed a good medium zoom lens. I like that this lens has VR vibration reduction feature which helps with steady portraits. Its a nice go to lens for everyday shooting.

It's really good quality for the price. I'm pleased and it does go on sale once in a while. If you got this and the 70-300mm zoom and then maybe the 80mm 1.8 or the 50mm 1.4, you would have a great "all your bases covered" set up.

I wanted a zoom lens that I could snap on and use for walking around shooting but primarily landscape shooting. I chose this lens mostly because it was a full frame lens and it was readily available. After buying this lens (with the Nikon D610) I returned it- after one day. Here is why: 1) it felt cheap and not very sturdy. This was a turnoff right out of the box. 2) I HATED the variable aperture on the lens. I ended up buying a Tamron 24-75mm 2.8f (no variable apeture). I shoot in manual all the time in a wide range of conditions. The variable aperture really slowed me down. 3) not a very good lens for the price. 4) it did noting (in my opinion) very well. If you are just getting into photography or stepping up your camera equipment from crop to full frame this lens seems like a good choice. But I do some more research and find a better option.

Not really a review of the lens as I returned it without using it. I have the 28-300 lens but it is very heavy and I was looking for something to use as an "all around" lens without the bulk. This "open box" lens was $200 off and rated as excellent. I assumed it was a lens that someone had returned. Nope, it was from a display model. It was missing the lens cap and was absolutely filthy. It also had two pinhead sized white spots inside the lens behind the glass. No idea how dust could make it inside like that. How a lens with that defect could be rated as excellent is beyond me. Luckily I was able to return the lens to my local Best Buy and get a full refund instead of the store credit that they wanted to give me. Kudos to Christie in customer service.

Bought this to replace my 18-55 "kit" lens. It's a perfect all around lens for my landscapes. Extremely pleased with the sharpness at both ends of the focal range.Well worth the price!!

Bought this len separately which usually comes as a kit. It was bundle so it's a lot cheaper. Overall very satisfied with purchase. Looking forward to picking up a nikon 2180 portrait lens

I’f Prefer it was a 2.8 but seriously it’s Nikon glass!!! A very usable focal range for street photography, landscapes , portraits. And it was 500$ no brainer

My wife loves taking photos and took a course with a professional photographer and the first thing they told her is that this lense is one of the best and has a lot of uses.

A fantastic upgrade to your kit lens. This midrange zoom lens is very sharp. The fast autofocus pairs very well with the D500 continuous focus in burst. A great value.

Just took lens on off road trip to Grand Canyon. Great all around lens for landscaping, far off and group gathering shots. Used it on a old Nikon D-60.

Lens has been very good for me as I am a beginner. I’ll get the stronger Lena soon but I’m satisfied learning with this one so far. Highly recommend

This is my general workhorse, everyday lens! I wish the range was a bit higher, like my other 105mm lens, but it still does the trick!
