I was torn between this and a high end mirror-less camera. Glad I went this direction. Useful ISO range is wonderful. Built like a tank and very good ergonomics and balance (the size and weight are a benefit when shooting large, long lenses for sports and wildlife assignments, and for studio work neither matters.) Also, plenty of great, relatively affordable lens options with NO CONVERTER (i.e.autofocus works seamlessly on all compatible lenses, one less link to fail, no wait to fill-in the range of lenses available.)

I bought this as a birth photographer, but I find myself using it for lifestyle and headshots alike. The frames per second is amazing and so helpful to capture nuances in a persons expression as well as the milliseconds between action shots. It’s a killer in lowlight!

First, I am NOT a professional photographer. I bought this so I could take better pictures of my daughters volleyball matches, and other things. Poor indoor lighting with fast paced action was difficult to photograph with my previous camera. Now I end up with almost too many photos because the higher ISO availability makes it easier to get good action shots in subpar lighting, and, the autofocus is awesome so, many more of the pictures are in good focus. That and with up to 14 frames per second, I can just take more pictures. I didn't rate this 5 stars on value because it is a very expensive camera. I rated it 3 stars on ease of use but it is a professional grade camera and not necessarily meant for "ease of use". You have to know what you are doing. I admit that I am still learning a lot about it's features, which are numerous. I would not recommend this to my friends because none of them are professional photographers or as neurotic about taking action photos of their kids as I am. I guess I am an extreme hobbyist. I would recommend it to a professional but why would a professional listen to me? When I can afford a good telephoto lens I hope to work on wildlife photography with it. I love the camera but it is not for everybody.

Best camera Nikon has made to date. It lives up to its reputation as the best professional camera on the market. Sure, it's not way beyond the D5, but I'm upgrading from a D3, so it's a whole new world.

Amazing improvement from my D4s. I love the GPS, the quickness of the metering. Much easier to use on a daily basis. You will not regret this purchase

Nikon D6 camera - I used the D5 heavily for three years, was thrilled with it. The D6 was introduced and I bought it right away. At first use I knew I was ready to end my romance with the D5, the D6 is that much improved. Simply stated: the best DSLR Nikon camera on planet earth. The focusing system is much improved over the D5, with many more tracking options within the focusing menu. This camera will accept all auto focus lenses Nikon has offered, old to most recent. Battery life in amazing, I get 700+ frames over the D5. The D6 is likely the last professional single digit workhorse camera Nikon will offer. I will use it along with my Z9. I give it my highest recommendation.
