I was looking for second camera as back up to my D5. I was in debate either to weight for D850 or buy D810. Then after reviewing multiple websites and some research I decided to go for this beast. Photos are amazingly sharp, performance are great. It’s Full frame so I don’t need to worry about lenses. I bought the battery grip and I already have D5 battery that can be placed in the grip, so no worry about battery life. It’s light weight without the grip and compared to D5. Love it highly recommended.

This camera has an amazing eye for detail. At 36mb it's one of the highest resolution cameras in the DSLR market. The focusing is amazing fast with a 51 point sensor that keeps it's focus easlily when in in motion. Highly rugged and well made and well balanced. If you intend to shoot a lot of action shots like sports or moving objects, this is the camera for you. Nikon out did themselves with this model.

This is probably the one of the best DSLR's I have owned. Nikon corrected a bunch of shortcomings from previous cameras with the D810. The focus system is excellent, even in low light. As long as you are using some decent glass, the focus will lock on fairly quick. The only negative I can think of is the larger file sizes, but it's more than a fair trade off for the sharp images you get.

This is a very good full-frame camera, with a high pixel density. The images you get from either the CF card or the SDXC card are incredibly high quality and can be enlarged quite a lot. The camera is a bit smaller than the top-of-the-line D4, so it's lighter and easier to carry, even with large lenses attached. If you're familiar with Nikon menus and controls, the set-up won't be hard to do. I was at a workshop and shot over 12,000 frames in the first two weeks of using the camera. One small caveat - there are scattering of users, including me, who have had a sudden and unresolvable error message that disables the shutter mechanism while operating the camera. Because this happened when the camera was under full warranty, it was replaced without question. Great service from Best Buy.

I have been waiting for a long time to find a camera with a full sized sensor that would give me decent quality, decent pricing, and not leave me wanting to upgrade once I started to get to know it. My last SLR used film, and I have owned a couple of so-so digital cameras a step above point and shoot. Before buying, the more I read about it and learned about the features it had, the more nervous/excited I became to make the jump to the D810. Now that I have used it for several weeks, I realize that it is a lot easier to use than expected, and the results are as good as expected. The menus are very straight forward, and organized logically. I have built a menu of my own with the selections I use the most, and I am also learning (slowly) more of the adjustments the camera allows. For starters, I have paired this with a 24-70mm f2.8 and a 70-200mm f2.8 and I am once again enjoying the ability to take photos where I can control more than simply what is in the frame. One Big Negative... Soon I will be spending money on Prime Lenses.

An awesome upgrade from my 5200! Photos are sharp(shooting with a 70-200 f2.8) and this camera is going to help me take my photography to the next level!

If you have been wondering whether to make the leap to a full-frame camera, don't hesitate to grab this beauty. Ergonomically, it's a dream. The deep grip feels great in your hand, not too heavy, and all setting dials are conveniently located. The price is a little steep, but paired with a quality lens you can't beat the color and clarity this camera produces. I've been doing a lot of macro work lately, and it still amazes me how sharp even heavily cropped images are.

I've only had the camera for little over a month but it's been an amazing experience. Originally started with the D750 but I exchanged for the more expensive D810 due to a more professional body, essential controls being in the right places. I've been taking pictures for as long as I can remember, been through Canon, Leica, Sony - this Nikon is by far the best camera on the market today. Solid.

I spent considerable time researching this camera. All pointers indicated that the D810 was the next purchase if I was serious about the direction I wanted to pursue a semipro position. This my third Nikon purchase that began with a Nikon 4004 many years earlier. Prior to the D810 I purchased a D5300. I now use both when appropriate. The flexibility and quality of images are excellent. The only downside is quality FX lens cost when considering previous DX lens purchases. Crop mode does not let you have full benefit of the camera and vignettes produced by DX lenses in full frame are far to distracting and present unnecessary editing. Absolutely a great camera.

This body improves greatly on the legacy of the D 800. Nikon's trademark ergonomic feel holds true to form in this iteration of a great product line. In addition, the image quality simply can't be beat except maybe with the D4 line.

The perfect combination of pristine quality and superior control, this camera allows me to accomplish any shot that I want in the most demanding situations of lighting (or lack thereof). Dynamic range is unparalleled in the DSLR camera market (at the writing of this review), and the power of manual video capabilities matches some of the standing cinema giants when paired with the right glass! I strongly recommend this camera for the multimedia interdisciplinary professional photographer.

I sold my D4 and bought the D810. The D4 was a wonderful camera, but I found lugging the D4 and 24-70 lens was a challenge for my back problems. Switching to the D810 and using prime lenses lightened my load. Having 36 mp allows me to crop my photos as needed. The D810 is a pleasure to use, and I now understand the praise for the shutter sound. The camera is solid and well-designed. The auto-focus is fast and accurate. I understand why it is so highly-rated.

My wife and I have been using a D800 and recently upgraded one of our cameras to this. It takes the same beautiful images and is much quieter.

It is the best and most expensive camera I have ever had. I have used it for almost a month now and love it very much. I had a D7000 which was not bad, but no way you can compare with this one. The color of my flower photos are so rich I would like to print everyone of them out. I also took some sun set and sport photos. They all were excellent. The only thing i don't like is that although there are still two card slots you can't use the same cards. You have to use one SD and one CF. I don't think it is a good idea.

Great camera, has not failed me, and my customers are loving the images. But, no WIFI and it's hurting me at the point of contact with the customer as the current workflow could be easier if I just waited to buy the next version of the 8 series which should have wifi to connect to IPad pro to immediately see pics while in the field/street. I do shoot tethered if in studio.

Up graded from a Nikon D800. D800 is now the back up camera. I am a pro photographer and this prosumer D810 is more than needed to work on my food and wine assignments for clients. Sharp images, great color correction, soft, quiet shutter, longer than D800 battery life, better compression of Raw files. Only issue is the Raw files are still not supported by Adobe Photoshop so check for updates. I had to download a beta version of camera Raw 8.6 to process files.

This is my 3rd Nikon camera and I've played with many more. This is by far the best one. Used the D4 and other full frame but this cameras clarity and ISO responsiveness is AMAZING!!! My children play soccer indoors and the lighting sucks but with this thing DANG BOY!! Get it and you will not be disappointed.
