I was looking forward to getting this lens, from a keen photographer who has sold a few prints :) I pre-ordered & sold my 70-180 & 2x teleconverter for this lens due to the size & weight decrease, and the extended reach & hopefull increased photo quality too. I am impressed with the near & far range that I can now get, it's also lightened my kit and made my setup a bit less tripod-dependant as it is a bit easier to now hand hold. A great all-round near & far travel zoom lense which has met my expectations. My only issue is, not related directly to the lens is that I bought what I thought would be a compatable 77mm filter which doesn' t seem to fit? The attached photo's show its zoom capabilities at 3 levels!

Great zoom lens for walk around . Capture images both near and far with great clarity. I use this for some street photography and getting closer shots. Very versatile..

We do a lot of national park trips and sometimes we fly budget airlines to get there so space matters. It would be great to fly with the arsenal of lenses but if checking a bag is the thing that makes or breaks a trip, I’ll take my chances. This takes beautiful pictures with my Z8. I was worried about the aperture size, which ideally could be better, but for the price and convenience, I’ll gladly edit the noise in post processing. The lens also has a nifty lock that keeps it from opening in a bag. It’s also surprisingly compact and light.

Already gave it a test drive and photographed some birds outside of my house, since also shooting with a z50 my lens is a 600mm equivalent at the long end which is great since i shoot wildlife! Very happy with the lens, not super heavy and compact as well!

This takes exceptional photos near and far. I love the ease of not having to carry multiple lenses. I wish this had been available sooner!

This new lens for the FX Full frame Z6III is a little daunting for me as I’m 76 years old. I’ve used many of these lenses from zoom to prime for Nikon cameras for over 60 years, from a 19 year old in rice patties of Vietnam Shooting 35mm film to my great granddaughter’s birthday party using this latest iteration….for me It’s a feeling of dependability. I’ve had and used many other brands, ie. Topcon, Nikon, Mamiya-Sekor, Minalta, Pentax, Cannon, et.al,….and some of them are excellent to outstanding….but Nikon lenses are legendary for combat photography…wish I’d had this lens then an I wouldn’t have had so many cameras around my neck…I can promise you when it really matters….reach for Nikon...it’s never let me down…..take the word of an old Marine photographer…..From carrying three or four cameras at a time to get the right lense….this one will do all that they could and more. You wont go wrong with Nikon.

The 28-400 lens is a nice hobby lens, its not super sharp and its not super fast. But it is a good lens for non professional use. I used it on my z8 and z7ii. Best in well lit places. Its a versatile lens for sure. Love the range. Id buy it again. Great for pictures you sre postig online.

I recently purchased the Nikon 28-400 lens and I couldn’t be happier with my choice. This lens is incredible! Very sharp details. Such a wide range from wide angle to telephoto, it is a light, grab and go lens. The only difference from the Z 100-400 is the more expensive 100-400 will accept the Z 2x converter, which I almost never use. Same sharp detail. The first one for my wife was so good, I bought another for my camera. We both have the A 7II.

Expected compromise with the huge focal range, but the optics are excellent for my purposes. F8 at 400mm is not a big deal on the ZF/Z5 II due to excellent ISO capability. Minimal distortion, all corrected in-camera.

Its the perfect lense. Wide angle to decently far telescoping.

I thought about this lens a long time. Then seeing reviews from different places made me decide. It’s a good all over lens. I like to take nature pictures. This was a win for me.
