The Nikon Z 40mm f/2 prime lens has quickly become a favorite in my photography arsenal. This compact and versatile lens perfectly complements my Nikon Z6II, providing exceptional performance in a wide range of shooting situations. One of the standout features of the Nikon Z 40mm f/2 lens is its superb image quality. The lens produces incredibly sharp and detailed photos, with excellent color rendition and contrast. Whether I’m capturing landscapes, portraits, or everyday moments, the images are consistently stunning and vibrant. The f/2 aperture is another major advantage of this lens. It allows for beautiful background blur and impressive low-light performance. Shooting in dimly lit environments is no longer a challenge, and the creamy bokeh adds a professional touch to my portraits and close-up shots. In terms of build quality, the Nikon Z 40mm f/2 is top-notch. Despite its compact size, the lens feels solid and durable. It’s lightweight and easy to carry, making it an ideal choice for both everyday use and travel photography. The sleek design and smooth focus ring further enhance the shooting experience. Autofocus performance is fast and reliable, ensuring that I can quickly and accurately capture my subjects. The lens operates quietly, which is a significant benefit when shooting videos or capturing candid moments without drawing attention. The 40mm focal length is incredibly versatile, offering a slightly wider view than the traditional 50mm, making it perfect for a variety of photography styles. It strikes a great balance, being wide enough for landscapes and street photography, while still providing a natural perspective for portraits. In conclusion, the Nikon Z 40mm f/2 prime lens is a fantastic addition to any photographer’s kit. Its outstanding image quality, versatile focal length, excellent low-light performance, and robust build make it a must-have lens for Nikon Z series users. Whether you’re a professional or an enthusiast, this lens will undoubtedly elevate your photography.

This 40mm Nikkor f2 lens isn't bad, but suspect I had a bad copy. It missed focus a few times on a person perfectly still in front of me. I have used an SE version of this lens in the past, and I don't recall it being like that, but honestly not sure. Nevertheless, it's a good value lens, albeit very plastic (no metal mount or weather sealing gasket), and gets pretty sharp when stopped down. Wide open at f2 it's softer, but still useable, and has some decent bokeh as well IMO. The big feature is how inexpensive, small and light it is, and I suspect many will find 40mm to be a very useful general focal length.

Sharp, fast, silent. It is very small and light. Excellent price too. Highly recommended for any Z camera whether it’s full frame or crop sensor. Only downside is no VR, but that is fine.

After reading and watching reviews online, I decided to pull the plug and get this compact lens. Wow, so amazing. I did not think it would be this great. This lens would blow any of the old G lenses out of the water in the image quality department. Bokeh has character and except for being a little noisy, it can be used for about anything. Good enough for environmental portraits and personal/family documenting. Only downside is the plastic mount and construction, I don't know if I want to be removing and re-mounting this lens too much, the mount seems to get frayed with use.

Just buy it , works like a dream and light as a feather. Image quality is just much more than you could imagine, I have no regrets. Price is right, lens is great, I usually do not buy these type of items from bestbuy but it actually is cheaper here minus shipping time and all. It even has super great insurance for less than 40 for the bestbuy 40mm which I can bring into store for replacement (I highlydoubti will need it but ya never know)

Very sharp and light, excellent for travel/street photography. Nice, pleasing bokeh in portraits.

The photos are simply amazing, the low f makes the high speed images super well contrasted with good resolution. So easy and straight forward to use.

This is basically the cheapest Nikon Z full frame lens you can buy, but don’t let that fool you. It’s an excellent lens. It will also work on your Nikon Z crop sensor cameras. It’s truly fantastic if you want a light set up for walking around.

A small, but very capable lens. I purchased this lens because it wasn’t very expensive compared to other Nikon lenses but I was totally impressed. I have it on a z6iii and I use it as an everyday lens

An excellent lens for indoor shots with low lighting. Ordered this for an Easter family shoot with me receiving it about 32 hours after ordering on line. Excellent service.

I expected it to be less sharp based on youtube reviews from pixel peepers but I’m actually impressed from this plasticy little lens. Feels cheap but it performs like a champ. I’m also liking this 40mm view more and more over the 50. Definitely not missing my D lens and it’s loud noises. Someone mentioned no VR and guess what, my 85 1.8s doesn’t either but your Z camera does!

Its pretty good as a walk around lens. It has character. Its straight forward no comparison to the S line. But okay.

Great lens. Very compact and light. Not quite as good as the 50 1.8 but for convenience it hits above its weight. Excellent price as well.

Great lens. Inexpensive, small and lightweight. Sharp enough and image quality is easily good enough for professional jobs if need be. The build quality isn’t on par with S lenses but it still is nice. Very quiet and quick focusing, almost instant on my Z5. I hope nikon builds more of these for us people who don’t want to spend $1k on S lenses. Like an 85mm or 135mm. That would be sweet.
