I am by no means an advanced photographer but this flash is easy to use and I feel when I get the time to learn the more advanced features of both the camera and flash, this flash will continue to meet my expectations. I love how the flash can be angled up or down and rotated to meet different situations. The accompanying flash lenses and wireless features add to the flexibility and versatility of this unit. I was a little hesitant with the seemingly high price of the flash, but I have no regrets and have found no issues with the flash to date.

I'm using this with a D700 full frame SLR. I did considerable research, much of it on DPReview.com, between this and the SB910. Price was not really a factor. I was tempted by the additional power of the 910 but in the end traded that for a little smaller, lighter, and faster recycle times. This is still a very powerful unit (92 feet GN at ISO 100). I developed what little skills I have many years ago when such power would have required carrying around a huge flash and a car battery! Also, based on others opinions, it appeared that the 700 is slightly more button-oriented—rather than having everything in menus. Obviously there are many menu-driven settings but several of the most common settings are right there on dedicated buttons which suits my preferences. I'm very happy with my purchase so far. I particularly like that the bounce head rotates 180 in both directions (some only go 90 in one and 180 in the other), it makes a difference when bouncing in portrait mode if you want to switch from lefty to righty :) Do your research and make your choice—if it happens to be this one, I doubt you'll be disappointed

I am not an expert in digital photography, but I am trying to learn more about enhancing photo quality being taken by my D7200 camera using the flash. There are many to choose from, but I decided on the genuine Nikon with a reasonable price tag. This SB-700AF fits the bill. It has many features and takes a while to get used to it. I am happy with this purchase.

What to say about a Nikon Speedlight, a solid, powerful and versatile piece of equipment. Well built, loaded with features and stellar light output.

Flash works beautifully. I was shopping around and was going to get a budget flash but decided to spend the money and get the Nikon. It has worked flawlessly without issues every time. Very easy to use. If you’re out all day and using the flash bring extra batteries. The 4 AA’s should net you about 100-140 shots (depending on which batteries you use). The battery level is shown on the display.

This is a fantastic flash! For the beginner, just put batteries in and mount it on the camera and you're ready to go. For more advanced photographers, there are a lot of features pack in this unit. The flash gels increase flexibility for various shooting situations. The bounce card and the swivel head add to the magic of this feature packed flash.

Huge upgrade from my SB-600, and it works well with my D7000 or D800. Shoots very fast when using NiMH batteries. In TTL mode, this Flash automatically recognizes your camera sensor type and any lens in use, and automatically makes the proper adjustments. Of course I have D800 & D7000 Nikon Cameras, but it is good to know that I now have a flash that optimizes the capabilities of my cameras without all that inconvenience of adjustments when ever I switch cameras or lenses. My only suggestion is to have backup batteries at hand. I'm a wedding photographer, and I usually shoot at a very fast pace, and even though I use NiMH batteries, I still carry an extra set. This is an excellent buy and I would recommend it to anyone.

I wanted to get the more expensive flash but then decided to save some money and went with this one, and let me tell you, it works as it should, great results and very easy to use, but if you are doing heavy shooting let's say for the wedding you probably need the SB-910, it will withstand more shots per minute. I'm glad I could help.

I bought a SB-700 previously when I bought my D7100, but I had to buy another one because my wife forgot her flash for a wedding, and we were too far from home. Thankfully the Best Buy in Biloxi had one. Awesome product thats hard to beat. It has a lot of great features that I've yet to use. The flash comes packaged well with a lot of extras (flash covers for various lighting situations). My favorite part about it is the ease of attaching and detaching. My wife's old flash was a pain to take on and off.

A great flash for professional and amateur alike. If you're having trouble swallowing the price of the flagship SB 910, then this is the next best thing. Its no slouch on power, and performs brilliantly in manual or automatic (TTL) mode. You will get a lot of mileage from this flash, and it can act as a flash commander for the Nikon CLS system, triggering other Nikon flashes wirelessly from most Nikon DSLR cameras.

I have been using this flash for some time now and it is very impressive. after shooting several practice frames and became familiar with the flash it was second nature when using it. great for fill and bounce flash, the remote flash is very useful for special flash situations and creating interesting lighting situations.

I got this product to replace my SB-600 and I enjoy the features much better I with the SB-700. Like the SB-600, but with more feautres. I especially like the ability for using creative lighting system which enables me to create more unique lighting situations. Overall, the speed light is easy to learn.

This flash is a bit heavy if you are using it on your dslr camera without a camera stand. However, the quality of this flash is great! You may not need additional lighting with this flash. Only downside is that you need to have extra lithium AA batteries on hand if you are going to use this for taking multiple low lighting pictures.
This flash is a must have for shooting indoor as it makes a tremendous difference in photo quality. Powered by 4x heavy AA batteries, this makes your camera very top heavy. The locking switch is fairly cheap and does not give the sense of security I would want. The on screen controls are very well, however the buttons are on the lower end of quality I was expecting out of nikon. Moving the flash up and down requires a side button to be pressed and it can be difficult at times adjusting it. The deflector that slides in the top above the flash is complete garbage and is extremely flimsy. I am afraid to slide it in and out as it might be completely ripped out by accident. I recommend this over any aftermaket flashes that promise the same flash power for a 3rd of the cost as this one actually is designed to work with nikon cameras.
I’m loving my new accessory so far! Definitely worth paying a little more to get the added features of this external flash. I mostly take photos of my Dog, wildlife, and outdoor scenery. This has definitely helped with the photos of our dog. It was a very easy set up too.

I bought this flash for portrait of my 2-year daughter. It works really well with my D750 and SU800 remote controller. There is no miss flash at all, and the recharging is pretty fast. The accessories are complete, with all necessary parts ready in a small pouch. I don't see cons so far so it does deserve 5 star.

A bit pricey but it’s definitely top notch. Using with a Nikon D850 and I love it. Easy to use and set up. I’m impressed with the quality of pictures when using this. It really helped maximize the potential of the D850!
