The Nikon Z30 with Vlogger Kit, which includes the camera, a 16-50mm kit lens, a Nikon ML-L7 Remote, a SmallRig Tripod and a SmallRig Windmuff. This is my first mirrorless camera. I own a Nikon D7500 with several prime lenses. I would not call myself a Content Creator, but I guess that is what I am. I'm a seamstress that makes clothes, then blogs about it on IG. I take photos of myself, but never videos. Hopefully, that will change now that I have this vlogger kit! When unboxing, I immediately noticed how small and light this camera is compared to my Nikon D7500! After fully charging the battery, I attached the 16-50mm lens. The LCD swivel screen can be flipped out to the side, rotated up/down, as well as flipped all the way around for selfie mode. The red light on the front lets you know when the camera’s recording. The camera will auto switch to self-portrait mode when the monitor is facing the front. This camera does not have an electronic viewfinder. This is a great camera that was built for videos, but I think that I can get it to work for my basic photos. The photos that I took with this camera are very crisp and only get grainy with low light. I do love that with the Nikon adapter, I can continue to use my DSLR prime lenses. Highly recommend!

I’ve been a content creator now for around 10 years, having used various cameras to shoot B-Roll video for various YouTube creators, and for my own personal photography projects. My main camera for a few years was a Nikon DSLR which I’d purchased at Best Buy as part of a bundle kit. It worked well for standard photography projects, but lacked the detail or stabilization for video shoots. So, when I had the opportunity to test drive the new Nikon Z30, I jumped at the chance to take this to a local Pumpkin festival to capture shots with my visiting family. This particular Nikon came with a creator bundle, including the camera body, a 16-50mm lens, a Rode microphone, an attachable handle which can hold the included remote and act as a small tripod, the owners manual, a battery, and a USB charging cable. You will need an SD card, and in my case chose to purchase a larger capacity SanDisk at Best Buy that happened to be on sale. You will need to attach the lens to the body, install the battery, and allow the Nikon to charge. One of the first things you’ll notice about this camera is the lack of a viewfinder. Since this is marketed for content creators, you’ll have a touchscreen LCD display which can be positioned for selfie shots, or swiveled and tucked back in to allow you to view and take photos on the fly. The menu navigation allows for use of the touchscreen, or you can use the directional pad and OK button on the camera to make selections. While this is marketed as a 4K camera, you’ll find various frame sizes and frame rate options; with options for 1080P at up to 120 frames per second. It even includes three slow motion options for 1080 video! This isn’t something I can say another other camera I own has. Given the lighter weight of the camera, you can opt to use the handle with the remote to start and stop video recording without needing to touch the camera directly. I also found that the video taken was stabilized well without a lot of video distortion. While this won’t likely match an action camera, it’s pretty great for capturing video of events knowing your video won’t look shaky. If you’re using this for general photography, you’ll find this Nikon very capable of handling your photo needs. I tend to stay with RAW+Fine JPEG, but if you’re using a smaller capacity SD Card, you can adjust this for just JPEG (fine, normal, and basic) or just RAW. The auto-focus using the included 16-50mm lens is quick, and when capturing moments on the fly makes for great photos with minimal waiting for the lens to focus. You can even set your preference for the “Vignette” or turn it off entirely if you want to avoid the blurring along the edge of your shots. You can also set the image size between small (2784x1856), medium (4176x2784), and large (default - 5568x3712). The larger the image, the larger the file size, with the settings showing a Large image storing about 20 MB per shot. While this isn’t marketed as a still photography model, you’ll find the Nikon Z 30 able to handle all of your photo/video needs. Given the cost of this camera, the ability to swap out the lens for other sizes, a quick auto-focus, and one of the best 4K video cameras I’ve used this an EASY recommendation. The versatility of this camera makes it a great choice for those looking to jump in to content creation or those needing a camera that can handle both video and photography tasks. It also allows you to use this on your PC as a webcam when connected over USB. It was detected by my Windows PC quickly, and was immediately able to use. I also didn’t experience any overheating with over an hour worth of use outdoors; compared to my larger mirrorless camera. I honestly feel Nikon really delivered with this camera, and it has become the camera I take with me to every video shoot.

I recently got into photography a few years ago somewhat for fun and somewhat out of necessity. In doing so, I got my first nice camera and my plan was to teach myself all the ins and outs of photography. It somewhat happened and somewhat didn’t, my first nice camera was a competitors brand and though I like it, it’s menu system can be very complicated at times. That’s the one thing that struck me about the Z 30, the Nikon menu system was much easier to navigate. Besides taking pics of my girlfriends cats and hobby stuff, my primary use is real estate photography. When using it for real estate photos the less complicated menu system and controls is something I greatly appreciate. Taking photos and video, the controls such as the quick access button for white balance adjustment and the excellent touch screen make it easy. The touch screen is very responsive and the touch to focus/shutter is an awesome feature that will make it easy for people coming from a smart phone and using a camera such as this for the first time. Though this is dubbed as a camera primarily for video, it takes amazing pictures right out the box and can produce a very nice Bokeh. When using for video it can shoot in 4k 30p or slow mo @ 1080 @ 120 fps. Though I would like to have Ibis built in to the camera, the lens does and you can also turn on vibration reduction for even more help making things stable. When it came time to see and edit my masterpieces or atrocities, I initially tried Nikons snapbridge app. I got it to connect to my iPad and iPhone with WiFi, but could never get it to connect with Bluetooth to either my iPad or iPhone. This was a little disappointing, but was short lived when I discovered I could connect it to my iPad directly with a USB-C to USB-C cable and not only could I transfer my pics directly to my iPad this way, the iPad would also reverse charge it. This is my preferred way to transfer as a one minute 4K video was able to transfer in about 45 seconds to a minute. When using the Nikon app that same video took almost five minutes wirelessly. Overall, the Z 30 is a well balanced entry level mirrorless camera that is geared toward video, but takes beautiful photos also.

For the price point, the Nikon Z30 is a really solid camera. When it works, it really works—and the image quality you can get out of it feels well worth the money. That said, this isn’t a “turn it on and everything is perfect” type of camera. There is some struggle involved, especially with autofocus, stabilization, and rolling shutter if you’re moving too much or shooting handheld. You definitely need to understand its strengths and work within them. Where the Z30 shines the most is talking-head content with good lighting, or when paired with a gimbal and proper lighting. In those situations, it performs great and delivers clean, sharp video. It’s also a strong option for streaming or setups where the camera isn’t being moved much and the subject is well-lit. The kit lens is surprisingly versatile and gives you room to experiment with different types of shots as you learn. On top of video, it also takes great photos, which makes it a nice all-around starter camera. What I actually appreciate most is that the Z30 presents you with just enough challenges to really learn how cameras work. It forces you to understand lighting, movement, and settings—and once you do, you can get excellent results. I’d recommend this camera to beginners, content creators, or streamers who want to learn and grow into their setup, especially if they plan to shoot in controlled environments. If you understand its limits and use it where it succeeds, the Nikon Z30 is a great value.

An excellent choice for a starter camera for photography and videos. The camera itself can be used as a webcam for online but then a compact beast for photos. It can take videos in 4k30fps, 1080p60 and so much for slow-mos if you are into that. This was my first choice for a camera starting off because of the durability and protection it has, especially conpared to its competitors (like the Sony EV-Z10). The display screen has a higher resolution than its competitors so what you see on that is what you'll see when you take the picture or taking video. The handgrip for holding the camers is way more ergonomic so it fits and holds better in hand. I also want to talk about how the menu/settings for this mirrorless camera couldn't have been better. Yes, some other brands might have a teeny tiny bit more options, but it can tend to be more confusing depending on your experience level. But overall, even with higher experience the menu/settings is very user friendly and gets the job done, and done well. The battery lasting longer would be nice but its not a deal breaker, or at least for me. It gets about 3hrs battery life which is more than enough for what I use mine for. (I use mine for streaming, vlogging, environmental photos/cars) Along with this camera, the support for Nikon for questions and everything has been outstanding. Registering this on Nikons website will give you access to a free video to help you understand more about the Z30 as well which was handy. Overall, I have no complaints and would definitely buy another if it came down to it.

This is a cool camera. It does take photos but just like all the youtube reviews say, thats not whats its meant for. The videos look good. The camera is unreliable if you want to record in the sun. It will constantly shut off. It will say its overheated and all you have to do is shut it off then back on. I hope a firmware update fixes the problem. Its just for fun videos. It is the perfect camera to replace phone videos.

This new lightweight and small gorm factor DX format camera is an excellent addition to my colkection of Nikons. I bought my first one and so impressed with the image stabalization that I bought a 2nd to replace an on air streaming camera. I also will use both of them as fixed position wedding cameras and you should see the video out of the camera to understand how impressive their capability is, much respect. I am a commercial photographer with a large collection of other cameras and this makes me happy to not have to have other brands on the shelf just to do small video jobs. Forget the gimbal, i bet that you can hand hold this camera steady enough to get great results. The articulating screen makes my day when shooting very high or very low. This camera is well worth the price.

This is an excellent introductory Mirrorless Camera for the beginning photographer. It is lightweight, which is a bonus for those who don't wish to lug around a DSLR or Full-Frame camera. The articulating touch screen is very handy for this kind of camera. The price point is very reasonable.

This is my first camera I ever got myself and it was hard at first for me to learn about it but at the same time exciting! I liked how it didn't take me that long to learn. I wish the frame was just a bit bigger for me since I want to use this to make food content! Sometimes it is hard for me to see but overall I am excited to learn more and put together my first video with it. The quality looks very good. I also wish it would autofocus better but that's okay. I feel I needed to improve my quality for my videos and this was the right step to make. A good investment.

I am a long-time (half century) camera buff and this camera excels for the amateur photographer. It is ergonomically a gem and its sensor is as good as any cropped sensor around. It is wonderfully light and its foldable lenses (16-50 and 50-250) are easy to carry around and all you will ever need.Do not spend $2000 on higher end full frame cameras meant for pros, this one is a keeper.

I recently purchased the Z30 with the 16-50mm. I think it's much more than a vlogging / content creator camera. Due to its size and video capabilities, it makes for an excellent small camera to take on trips, photo walks and doing street photography. I find it has quick focusing, support silent photography, nice menu customization modes and the ability to create your own filters within camera. The only downside I’ve found is in bright sun the screen is hard to see (needs to be brighter). Plus, the pixel count is only 21MP; IMO, it should be 24MP considering how long 24MP has been in the marketplace. Lastly, the price is great...very affordable.
