Paired this sub with a Polk audio Bash 500 (recommended sub amp) and the bass was extremely weak with low audio levels set on amp. If the levels were turned up on the amp, the sub crackled and sounded over powered- as if they were going to blow out. The bass this sub put out was on par with a run of the mil soundbar/sub combo. I'm not sure if the bass was decreased this much because it is outdoors or if it needed a different amp. Either way, the sub and amp combo was right around $1k and nowhere worth that kind of money.

I'm an Audio/Video company owner and have used many products in my time. I finally feel compelled to review this product because of it's horrible history at a clients house. I installed it, never worked properly (sounded muffled) and then replaced it with a second one that is now no longer working after only 2 years. How can this product be so bad! Plus, let me remind you, that this product is BURIED and the labor required to replace these is NOT fun. So, stay clear. Side note, I've never had more problems with products than with Niles....even had to warranty the amplifier that was paired with this.
