If you only make espressos, the pucks will knock out cleanly, but coarser ground and less tamped coffee grounds won’t knock out as cleanly and you will find yourself cleaning each time you empty it. Grounds can stick to the knock bar and require more portafilter cup cleanings than would otherwise be required. We found ourselves just brewing coffee more often than espresso. This is more reflective of a brewer that tries to do too much than of being an actual bad product.
