Had a lot of fun buying this and then using it with Smash Bros. Pick your favorite character and sync and play.

I don't know if the recipient uses the amiibo with her Wii-U but I know it is a great item to have. It's LINK!

These things are pretty cool. They're useful in games that support them and they look great on the shelf too.

I'm sure most people know about the current craze of Nintendo's known as Amiibos. For those not in the know, these are figures based on various Nintendo properties (and then some), which can unlock various bonuses for games on the Nintendo Wii U and the New 3DS (they work on the standard 3DS, too, but you need to buy the accessory to do so), and will probably offer features on the upcoming "NX" (final name pending as of this review) console. They're not a requirement, but they offer some neat extras. It's no different with this Link amiibo. You can use it to train a computer-controlled fighter in Super Smash Bros., unlock a new weapon in Hyrule Warriors, unlock him as a costume in Super Mario Maker, and restore items in The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD (and he'll probably unlock something in the upcoming Zelda: Breath of the Wild). As for the figure itself, it's nicely detailed, and puts Link in a battle-ready dynamic pose. If there's any downside to this figure, it's that for whatever reason, instead of the standard clear piece of plastic used on many amiibos as extra support, it's a clear yellow color (which has given rise to the unfortunate nickname relating it to urine). It's not a complete loss, but it really does make you wonder why they just didn't stick to what worked before. Anyway, if you're a Zelda or Nintendo fan, I say pick it up if you've got the cash to spare. It's one of the older series of Amiibo, so it won't be on shelves for much longer.

Still needed Link after all this time. Picked him during the 2 for $20 sale. Great detail.

My nephews loved all their amiibos for Christmas and this was one of their favorites.

Link has a lot of compatibility with Amiibo games. While the model is not the greatest, what he represents is very nostalgic to the series. I highly recommend.
