Purchased one of these Nintendo prepaid cards at Best Buy before and was quite pleased, as Best Buy offered them at a discount during a sale. This purchase was even better than the last, as I had a $5 off coupon from Best Buy, so essentially, I got a $10 Nintendo prepaid card for only $5 (50% off!). You really can't beat shopping Best Buy's sales/deals! The card itself is very easy to use on Nintendo hardware to purchase Nintendo software via Wi-Fi connection; in my case, I can download on my 3DS (games, themes, apps, etc.) anywhere I can connect to Wi-Fi. Best Buy has Nintendo Zone Wi-Fi in-store, so essentially, you can download new games immediately in-store after buying this prepaid card, along with any Nintendo Zone bonus content. Kudos to Best Buy for partnering with Nintendo. Card would be a great gift for any gaming fan with a Nintendo 3DS or other hardware/platform that uses this particular prepaid card! By luck, I was able to get a card that also included a Photos with Mario AR card as a free bonus, a free app that uses the included AR card to allow users to takes photos with a Mario character using the 3DS camera! Look for the special prepaid card in-store if you are purchasing!

Nintendo provides a great program of discounts for digital purchases. Registered Wii U deluxe earn Eshop money back PLUS coins for free downloads. Best Buy is the best place I know to get Eshop cards. Keep an eye out for their 20% off Eshop Card Sale and that's even more Zelda and Metroid for your digital bucks!

I chose this card specifically to purchase a new pass for Pokémon Bank. After buying that I had a few dollars to work with, so I bought a couple themes for the Home Menu. I would recommend this for small purchases such as the aforementioned things, but most games cost more than this. Just make sure you have enough to pay for what you want, and sales tax (if applicable).

This is perfect alternate way to make purchases on the the Wii U eShop or 3DS/2DS eShop when you don't want to use a credit card.

The Nintendo eShop is an online store that caters to the 3DS(and it's assorted variations) and the Wii U. This card is a fairly convenient means of purchasing games and software from the eShop. One of the best things about these cards, outside of not giving your child access to your credit card, is that it provides an opportunity to save a bit of money. With very rare(but useful) sales on them and the ability to use Best Buy gift certificates to purchase them, you can essentially save on the purchase of Nintendo games on the eShop. Long-time fans of Nintendo know many of their games don't drop in price quickly, so these cards are a great way of saving a bit of money on games that don't lose their value the way many other high profile games do. Just something to keep in mind. Happy gaming all!

If you have a 3DS,2DS, or WiiU OR know someone who owns any of these systems then a 20 dollar eShop gift card is a great gift idea. This eShop card is used on the online store found within the console. From there you redeem the card's code and use the credit to purchase games from a vast selection. With twenty dollars you can purchase a number of indie titles or virtual console releases. And if the person would like to download a retail game from either 3ds or WiiU game library 20 dollars is half of and nearly half way to completing the purchase respectively. With the eShop gift card you give the gift of gaming.

Pretty standard issue at this point. The value goes to the account shared by both the 3DS and the Wii U (or Wii if you're still using it).
Nintendo has a bit more trouble with their system than some other companies. For example, you have to load the cards into the respective eShop app, but some games use in-game purchases for their DLC. So you'll have to logout of eShop, make sure all software for the games is up-to-date, THEN go into the game which then links to the sShop for purchases. It gets more complicated when you buy something for both 3DS/Wii U as a bundle; they issue a download code that you have to copy down or remember, then input on the other system. Also, Nintendo didn't think things through with zeros and "O"s, or "I"s and ones.
Otherwise you can use it to buy games from the eShop directly, screens for your 3DS, and/or continue your service with some "subscription" apps, like Pokémon Bank. If you plan on getting all the characters and stages in Sm4sh or Mario Kart 8, expect to be buying a lot of these...
I got mine at Best Buy because you can price match with other companies when they're on sale, they add more points to your Membership (a little double dipping), and because the credit card number isn't saved with Nintendo on their servers! This is a really important reason to get prepaids via a seller with cash; the threat of corporate hacking is bypassed.

For those who don't know, Nintendo has an online shop accessible through their systems (3DS, Wii U, etc.) where people can buy and download games. In order to buy games, you can either use your debit/credit card, or buy one of these eShop cards if you're not comfortable with the previous option, to add the necessary credit to your account.
That said, it's easy enough to redeem these; just go to the eShop, find the option to redeem the card, input the code, and you're good to go. No delays, and you can spend your credit immediately. As mentioned on the cards themselves, these are usable on both the 3DS and Wii U, and should be good until Nintendo rolls around their next systems down the road.

Nintendo E-Shop Points are Essential!

So do you like to be challenged? Do you like competition? Making yourself better? Then you absolutely HAVE to have Nintendo E-Shop Points! They are are an important element when owning a Wii U as well as a good reason to get a Wii U!
Have you heard of Super Mario World on SNES? I have you heard of Duck Hunt?
What about amazing games like Shovel Knight? A completely new amazing 2D platforming game, that involves an unbelievable amount of Gameplay and challenges!
I love having E-Shop Points, though they were better when we also got 10% back from the Nintendo Club Rewards! But overall a very good deal no matter what, and MUST BUY if you can get them at a percentage discount!
I hope this helps and have a great day!

The code on the back will give you $10 to spend on anything in the Nintendo eShop, obviously, but what's special about these is that they also come with "special" AR cards that let you play with select Mario characters with the Nintendo 3DS' cameras. It doesn't look like it, but the AR card is folded inside the main card, along with a little diagram showing how to use it with the 3DS. This makes it pretty unique as one of the few of these cash cards that actually gives you something in addition to the value of the card itself. It's a neat little bonus, and gives at least *some* kind of reason to buy these cards, but that's probably not what you're really interested in buying in the end.

So you have a WiiU or a 3DS system, but you hate carrying around all those carts. The solution is an Eshop card. Instead of attaching a credit card to your system to buy things from the Eshop on either the WiiU or 3DS, you can get an Eshop card and use it as currency. The Eshop has great sales, so you can get your gaming on the cheap. Plug it in and you're on your way to new worlds to discover, or just buy some DLC. The cards work on BOTH the WiiU and the 3ds at the same time, since one account is all you need for both systems. Perfect for parents who want to give their kids some extra fundage for games but don't want to worry about running up bills. Highly recommended.

Must have if you like digital download

Some of Wii U contents can only be bought online. So get this prepaid card especially if you like to control the purchase e.g. set a limit of 10 dollars every 1 month. Instead of putting the CC where you will be over blown of your budget, you can use this prepaid card to buy the items and have control of your budget.
One advantage: No need to put CD, I hate to put CD so digital download is the way to go. Please get the external Hard-Disk to connect the Wii U and buy the games from the Nintendo Store. (No more scratches of CD). If the hard-disk spoilt then just buy another external hard-disk and re-download the contents from nintendo eShop. easy.

Little by little as I've switched over to digital for my 3DS, I've been more and more interested in the eShop. The amount of games from a wide-scope of genres is incredible, and there are tons of great titles for everyone to enjoy from AAA to Indies. Those that are fans of Steam, I feel you would enjoy the eShop as it is set up similarly and it is fun to simply browse. You never know what gems you'll run into. You may even run into your next favorite game. Lots of these great games are games also that cannot be found anywhere else than the amazing machine that the 3DS is. Get these cards and have fun! Build a beautiful library.

My preferred way to buy eShop credit.

While it is probably more convenient to just buy eShop credit straight from the Nintendo eShop using a credit card, I've been buying my eShop credit from Best Buy and other stores for a while now, mainly for one reason: stores like Best Buy will frequently have gift cards on sale anywhere from 10 to 20% off. Also, buying the cards will contribute to My Best Buy rewards, and will count double if you have Gamer's Club Unlocked, getting you closer to reward coupons.
Now - if only Best Buy would follow Wal-Mart and Target and start offering instant delivery on eShop cards via email. ;)

This is a great alternative to using a credit card for Nintendo's eShop.
You also get 2 AR cards to use with the 3DS (Koopa Troopa and a "?" card). The AR cards work with the Photos with Mario app that is available free on the eShop. Additionally, the AR cards can interact with other cards from the same series. I would say this is a better alternative than getting the other eShop cards that don't come with AR cards.
Finally, for the collectors out there, the Koopa Troopa card is suppose to be a Best Buy exclusive; at least at the time I purchased it.
