Customers are saying

Customers are impressed with Nioh 2's engaging gameplay, compelling story, and the inclusion of a PS5 upgrade. Many also appreciate the game's value for its price and the variety of weapons and action-packed sequences. However, some players find the game's difficulty to be a significant challenge. The lack of adjustable difficulty settings is a common point of criticism.

Difficult but balanced in a way that keeps you hooked. The story and graphics are top notch and you will be absorbed into the world of Nioh 2 no doubt.

A huge improvement from the first Nioh

Firstly this game addresses a lot of issues I had from the first game which makes it a lot more enjoyable. Some like adding optional tools for those who find the game lonely and want a partner even if it comes at a sacrifice of making Revenant (red sword challenged) battles extremely easy which are also optional. The game's atmosphere feels more interesting and I actually find myself more interested in the characters this time around. Some of my favourite changes where; -The Yokai realm that makes revenant battles very challenging, yokai gain new moves and slow down ki regeneration thus makes battling them very challenging and fun. -Better level design, music, ambience, voice acting, etc. -Character creation which explains itself but its a wonderful addition specially when Nioh's main character never truly expressed much feelings so never truly cared about him. There were some changes I find to be nuisance like more skills on top of the already very deep combat system. I still don't use the yokai skills as they feel clunky and seem to get killed more than anything. The yokai shift is more of a clutch that can get you killed if you dont pay close attention. Overall I found them interesting but for me I didnt see much use for them except for clutch situations. Same with the AI aid that could easily lure more enemies thus meeting your death. MY biggest issues with Nioh 2 are really more of the same with the first game that overtime it just doesnt hold up very well but it doesnt mean its bad. However, the grinding portion was made fairly easier without it being a hassle like the first game Overall I find the game more of a HUGE improvement from the first one without making it too easy nor unfair and cheap. There is some moments when it could feel like that but so far its very rare. I usually dont ever do reviews because I am bad at it but I really believe this game is definitely worth your time. It doesnt try to be something its not and doesnt exactly feel like Nioh 1.5. Its feels like a true sequel and a very good one and I really recommend

Nioh 2 tops Nioh 1 in all departments! From its grand scale, to the overcoming of bosses & enemies. Team Ninja’s take on the fuedal japan era of Samurai History, and twisting it & turning it on its head with Oni demons & mystical monsters— i’d say give Nioh 2 a try if you’re looking for a challenge based in fuedal Japan!!

I really enjoyed the first Nioh but it's clear Team Ninja wasn't content to rehash what was already a success. They've made lots of improvements to the gameplay, added some new weapon types and living weapon has been replaced with the Yokai abilities which adds a whole other layer of depth. The yokai switch allows you to counter and also perform yokai abilities you can get from enemies you defeat. I'm about 40-50% through the game so far and it's safe to say this is a step above the original game. Very highly recommend!

Great and fast gameplay. It’s like onimusha and dark souls had a kid. Everything that was great in nioh 1 was upgraded in this sequel!

Very challenging and similar to the dark souls and bloodborne games, fun and fluid, but play at your own risk.

This game will punish you for mistakes (think Whiplash music instructor), but it is satisfying when you push through and win. I put about 70 hours into the game, played through most of the side quests. Just stuck with a sword as the main weapon. Definitely recommend. Playing through the original on Steam now.

If you're a fan of Dark Souls games, the Nioh series is a great challenge to those that want it. The bosses are harder, more varied, and the environments/levels equally so. There's a lot more variety this time around since it doesn't hue so much to a historical story so there are everything from monsters to yokai to aliens? Interesting mixup, but still fun and rewarding to play if you like the challenge...

I was actually surprised at how much I liked this game. I'm a pretty big fan of the "Souls" type games but when I tried Nioh 1 years ago, I just couldn't get into it. Nioh 2 had me hooked immediately and I managed to get the platinum trophy in a month. It's more challenging than your average game but never felt unfair or oppressive. Plus, you're given some options if you need help, like summoning AI companions. I'd easily recommend Nioh 2 to fans of the first game and the "Souls" genre.
