Extremely Entertaining And A Extremely Hard And Ad
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The action packed game is an entertaining hardcore game that if the gamer who is playing it will definitely feel a like it's a mix of Onimusha/God Of War/Dark Souls/Devil May Cry all mixed together. I love how so much of the Japanese myths of yokai/demons/gods were put into the game as well as some actual historical figures as well. The gameplay is pretty easy once it's learned and the upgrade tree is overall what many have learned and used in other JRPG/RPG games. The animation overall is spectacular as is the soundtrack and voice cast. This is one of those games that urges exploration and doing side missions as you won't progress far into the main story unless you build your character up don't expect to take on a high level Oni if you're just a beginner level fighter with lackluster weapons and armor. While pricey I personally feel the game is well worth getting but if you're still unsure I'd advise seeing if you can possibly try out a demo beforehand that way you know what you're ultimately getting into whne you do decide on getting this game or not.

Be prepared to die... alot.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Really challenging game with a fun and engaging combat system. Even as a veteran of the Soulsborne games, I died often during the second level. Needless to say, this game is not for the casual gamer. Your coordination skills will be put to the test. Do not expect to coast through this game without being challenging. You are often pitted against several enemies at once who are entirely capable of killing you in a few hits unless you learn to dodge attacks. The game does have some unfair boss fights, but this is all optional postgame content. During the main story line, bosses present a fair, but difficult fight. Some bosses are way easier than others, but the game teaches you to never let down your guard and win via trial and error. As far as graphics, Nioh isn't the prettiest game out there, but the settings and locales really capture Feudal Japan really well. Overall, it was a worthwhile journey, and I was glad to be able to play through and beat the game.

Dark Souls meet Ninja Gaiden
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. What my titles reads, it will definitely appeal to fans of either genre+cosplay souls fans as well. The ability to both kill and loot what would be considered an invader in this game also makes it more palatable. Not to mention that the combat doesn't force you to switch between melee and ranged weapons to use them simultaneously. They're permanently designated to seperate buttons. The melee system is compromised of the high-mid-low style you would find in a Ninja Gaiden game with the high attacks dealing slower, heavy damage and low being faster with less output. Risk-and-reward play out less here because unlike Dark Souls, you don't have to NG+ to get more amrita(exp) and avoid the difficulty spike by paying little collectible frog spirits at the shrine(bonfire spawn) for more exp permanently. To add, stamina management isn't as worrisome because holding r1 at the end of attack animations restore enough stamina to add another attack to the combo. That means some enemies who are easily stunned present no challenge at any difficulty to the rythmically inclined. To differentiate the game even more(read: make easier) You get to choose a guardian spirit that gives you a supercharged mode with infinite stamina and heightened for a time. Usually reserving it for emergencies or boss fights. The game does let choose between different render modes that prioritize resolution, framerates, and both via checkerboard. I can't think of more to mention right now.

Team Ninja Delivers Again
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Nioh is a fantastic action game from Team Ninja. At times it can be brutal when spamming the same attack, yet equally fulfilling when stringing together attacks that exploit enemy weaknesses. This title is the closest modern version equivalent of Ninja Gaiden or Ninja Gaiden 2 on the PS4. It is NOT a Dark / Demon rip-off, as you never feel under-powered in any battle, only under-prepared.

A challenging yet wonderful experience
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This game is an awesome gaming experience. It's a cross between Dark Souls, Onimusha, and Ninja Gaiden. A wonderful hack and slash game where you will die...a lot. The enemies are challenging and the environments are beautiful. I hope the difficulty doesn't ruin it for you because it took me almost 3 hours just to beat the first boss. However, once I did...I felt accomplished. The bad thing is the checkpoints are marked by prayer shrines are spaced far apart. If you die, you will have to start all the way back at that point. Prayer points will replenish your life bar but will also respawn all of the enemies you slayed before you prayed. That's the trade off. Also your xp (Amarita) will be lost if you die, however when you die make sure to go to the point you died at to reclaim your body...if you do then you get everything back. Well enough of me talking about this game, but it already!!!!

Nioh is good.
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Nioh is about as approachable as a game of this this can be, and while that may offend the hardcore sensibilities of some Souls fans, it's a title that will likely appeal to many players who want a gameplay challenge but are turned off by the obtuse nature of Dark Souls' storytelling and the murky explanations of its mechanics. The experience is somewhat ruined by some unfortunate difficulty spikes and lackluster bosses, but the rich loot, levelling systems, and fast, often exciting combat do more than enough to justify Nioh as a worthy contemporary to From Software's efforts – and an impressive return to form for Team Ninja.

Fun souls style game!
||Posted . Owned for more than 2 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Nioh is a game in the same style as the souls/borne games. This one is more orientated towards ancient Japan though. Lots of fun weapons and skills to take on legendary Japanese Yokai (monsters).

Great game just a little too long
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you are a fan of souls games, you will love this. Great combat, varied weapons, and an interesting setting. It over stays its welcome a bit towards the end but you will definitely get your money's worth

Dark Souls with more explanation
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Challenging action game feels like a cross between Devil May Cry and Dark Souls. Many interesting mechanics to fighting, such as fighting stances that balance offense and defense. Game menus are intuitive and setting is interesting, although environments and enemies aren't particularly noteworthy.

very challenging
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. At first, I was thrown off by the graphics. they seemed to be old looking like they belonged in a ps3 game. But as the game progressed, the graphics became muuuch better. The atmosphere was breathtaking, the gameplay controls were on point, and the cinematic are amazing. The game is a challenge itself to play with the difficult settings. I kept dying early on but that was on me. The game is amazing.

Nioh - PS4 (like Omnimusha)
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This game is amazing! I'm relieved to see that there is now a game resembling the original Omnimusha since PS2! We needed a game of similar taste! This is a great Action RPG game that shifts from dark to scary in no time! It's great and really keeps you playing for hours! Recommended!
