Customers are saying

Customers express satisfaction with Nioh's engaging gameplay, compelling story, and immersive setting in feudal Japan. Many praise the variety of weapons and intense action, although some find the game's difficulty challenging and the initial learning curve steep. A few players noted that level design could be improved, and some found the controls initially unusual. Overall, the positive feedback on gameplay and story outweighs concerns about difficulty and other minor issues.

Ninja Gaiden + Onimusha + "Souls" games = THIS gam

I'm just gonna get straight to the point: Ninja Gaiden influence - fast paced action with learnable skills and maneuvers. Cant find and equip weapons such as Katanas, Axes/Hammers, Spears, Dual Swords, and Kugarishima (sickle and chain) Onimusha - Vibe and feel with setting taking place in a sort of feudal Japan era, enemies and monster designs influenced by this as well "Souls" influence - hard difficulty, leveling up system by collecting Amrita, (Souls in this game) enemies respawn at savepoints and finding shortcuts On its own, it has a Stance based combat system which allows for more dynamic and tactical combat options. Pick this game up NOW

This game feels like a faster souls game set in a Japanese setting. Gameplay is very deep with a 3 stance combat system, and with lots of stats to mess with. It has a Diablo 3 loot system, as well as a summoning system. Instead of one seamless world, it's all mission based.

This game came out of no where. There was not a lot of advertising for the game and I only heard about it the day it came out. Best Buy was the only store in my area that had it in stock. Walked in, purchased and left. I'm not a fan of dying simulators like bloodborne or dark souls so I was hesitant on purchasing Nioh. After a few hours the game became pretty addictive and fresh. Although it has some of the same gameplay genre as bloodborne and dark souls, it has a different atmosphere and an easier learning curve. I recommend this game to anyone that loves RPGs and ninjas with some interesting game mechanics and samurai lore.

Originally announced by Koei in 2004 (before the merger with Tecmo), the game was to be based on an unfinished script by filmmaker Akira Kurosawa titled Oni. The game was to be released with a companion film, also titled Oni, that would have seen the directorial debut of Hisao Kurosawa, Akira Kurosawa's son. Hisao Kurosawa was completing his father's script with assistance from game producer Kou Shibusawa of Koei, with a combined production budget of ¥ 3 billion for both film and game. The game originally centered around the eponymous protagonist, Oni, the son of a Japanese lord and a Western woman, and was set in Japan during the 16th century. The first announced release date of the current iteration of Nioh was summer of 2006 for the PlayStation 3. A pre-rendered game trailer was shown at the 2005 Electronic Entertainment Expo, and a similar trailer was shown at the 2006 Tokyo Game Show. The game missed the initial 2006 release window without comment from Koei. It wasn't until 2009 that Koei confirmed that the game was still in development, apologizing for the lack of updates. In 2010 Koei (now Koei Tecmo) announced that Tecmo's Team Ninja would be finishing development of the game, which had been suspended by Koei. In 2012, Koei Tecmo's President and CEO, Kou Shibusawa, announced that the game had completed its alpha development cycle. In August 2014, Koei Tecmo filed a new U.S. trademark for the game. The game was officially re-revealed, now slightly re-titled as Nioh, for the PlayStation 4 at the Tokyo Game Show on September 15, 2015. A public alpha demo for the game began on April 26, 2016, and ended on May 5, 2016. Players who successfully cleared the first stage in the alpha demo were given access to The Mark of the Conqueror downloadable content, which became accessible when the full game was officially released. A second beta demo was announced in a trailer shown at E3 2016, slated for August 2016. Nioh was finally fully released in early 2017.

Amazing game at an amazing price. I usually wait for game to go down on price before I buy it unless it's something I really want. This was really good price since I'm gamers club, you get extra 20% off. Game graphics game play are both amazing.

2017 has been full of FANTASTIC games. The PS4 has had a number of 3rd party exclusives, and being an Xbox fan myself, it's sad I can't use my preferred controller more. but Nioh is one of the rare games that got me by surprise. I won't get into spoilers here, but I will say for under 20 bucks, in 2017. I think this is a great pickup.

Nioh is often compared a lot to the Souls series, and it does take quite a few things that are found in the Souls games. The combat system in Nioh is awesome (even better than Souls imo) and it's fun creating different builds. The lack of enemy variation is noticeable but it doesn't take too much away from an otherwise great game.

This game satisfies at every aspect. I absolutely love the combat system. I'm a casual gamer who games a lot. And I was told that I wouldn't like this game... WRONG! That specific Japanese era and culture had me at hello. If you're anything like me, flying through the game is NOT an option, so get ready for the grind! It's a beautiful grind of trial and error. Enjoy.

I am not dense. I have been playing video games since I was a kid on the original Atari 2600. Love RPG type games and this looked amazing. I played it for about 30 minutes and couldn't get out of the first area. I got frustrated and haven't picked it up since.

This is basically dark souls, but set in japan which is actually a pretty good thing for me. I was actually getting tired of the dark and dreary mid evil setting of each game. I would recommend this to any dark souls fan.

Nioh is easily the best exclusive PS4 has to offer as of this writing. The combat will be familiar for those who've played Souls games before, but with more intricate mechanics. Combat is a balance of methodical thinking and high action, you're not going to button mash your way to victory. Each level evokes a unique feel, and the enemies present in the stage feel right at home. Everything about this game is as perfect as can be and I highly recommend this to anyone who isn't afraid of difficulty in video games.

It's like Dark Souls but it's not slow, plus it doesn't suck. The combat is great not clunky and slow like Dark Souls. "No the slow clunky combat is a feature not bad game design"...Dark Souls is a bad video game.

Nioh is quite good. It's combat system has a lot of depth, and there are plenty of missions to go on. BUT! While it shares some mechanics with Dark Souls, the games are very different, and even if you are a DS veteran, Nioh has a steep learning curve. Its still a great action rpg though.

Nioh is a gmae that was supposed to release back on the PS3 but has finally released on PS4. It's a samurai game that features quick weapon play and big bosses to conquer it is similar to the Dark Souls games but with a twist. If you are into those kind of games then this is for you.

Essentially a more Japanese and faster-paced Souls game. Good variety of weapons and styles to choose from. Also has a $25 Season Pass, which is included in the digital-only Complete Edition.
