Force being magnetic haha! This is a simple non Rocket Scientist needed car mount that's very sleek with the polished steel Orbiter. It uses extremely strong 3M adhesive. So if you ever plan to take this be aware of what you stick this on!! It could pull off paint or if your dash is like mine, a very thin foam filled pressed plastic. With all of the curves and thing angles on my dash I had a hard time finding a place to attach it where it was visible and also out of the way of controls and all.. coming from a window suction cup mount. Those are kind of annoying because depending on temperature it can make the mount fall. There is noooo issue with this coming unattached which I love and you can swivel it around depending on the space where you mount it. Side note for those who pocket their phone, Id keep them away from your wallet or credit cards because the possibility of clearing the data from the strip on the back is probable Style and look A+ Finding a safe spot to put it is key Would recommend to others

Using this the last few weeks has made for a much safer drive to and from the office. Super simple to mount...I wont even say install, because my 5 year old nephew could figure this out - however - this is not a toy, the magnet is STRONG. The level of attraction between the plate and the ball is fascinating. Like many others, I would place my phone in a cup holder, and glance down while driving when/if needed. Now, my phone has a home on the dash and theres no longer a need to be distracted. Can't wait for the next road trip as well, that way I'm not trying to balance my phone on the steering wheel while trying to keep it charged and my Spotify playlist rotation in check. Great product - would just suggest that these kits come with at least one additional flat phone metal mount.

I am using the Nite Ize Dash mount on a new Kia Soul vehicle and it looks perfect on the right (passenger side) of the shifter. Make sure when you decide were you want it as its not gonna be very easy to relocate which is a good thing. This thing is solid, keeps the expensive phone safe and you dont have to worry about it detaching like so many inferior products do. As far as installation its not much to it, put the thin circular magnet piece on your phone and your good to go. Personally I prefer not to put it on a case as I change cases frequently so I just attached it right to the back of my phone and it works like a charm. Great product and value.

I found this to be a great phone holder. It consists of a rather heavy steel ball which adheres to a flat clean spot on your dash. Something hard and perfectly flat works best.. Then there is a metal disc that can adhere to your phone case. In my case, I just placed the disk between the phone and the phone case. The magnetic mount is more than strong enough to stick to the metal plate through the case and securely holds the phone in place. You can rotate the phone in any direction to give yourself the best viewing angle while driving. Overall it's well built and I recommend it, provided you have a good surface to attach it to.

I like this phone mount. It's made of solid materials and holds the phone in place! I like how easy it is to install. Simply remove the cover over the adhesive and stick in place. I placed the piece on the back of my phone between a hard plastic shell and the silicone bumper cover of my phone case. You can't even tell it is there! My one complaint is that it will block your wireless charging. This is also stated in the instruction manual, so the company does make you aware of this. It's a trade off for me, because I would rather have the mount. All in all, great product.

    Dash mount for cellphone

This product worked well for me. It has three parts: the dash mount, which looks like a small silver snowglobe, the orbiter magnetic socket, which is flat on one side and the other has a silicone center that fits on the dash mount, and a thin metal plate. The dash mount obviously goes directly onto the dash of a vehicle. It has strong adhesive to keep it in place. The metal piece adheres to your phone in the same way. It also comes with an alcohol wipe to clean your phone before attaching. The orbiter does not stick to either of the other pieces, but is magnetic like the dash mount. It's a strong magnet; I stuck it to my fridge and it's much stronger than anything else I've used on the fridge- which it needs to be, so it holds the phone in place. I did read before using it that the magnets won't hurt the phone. I attached the dash mount per the included instructions, which says to wait 24 hours before using. I gave it a little longer. Everyone who got in my car noticed and asked about it. It's shiny and silver and looks kind of nice all by itself. Then the plate goes either on the phone or the phone case by using the alcohol wipe, letting it dry, and then removing the backing to the adhesive. Both of these are quick and easy to do, but then you wait for the adhesive to be really secure (24 hours or more for this one too). I thought the piece that went on the phone would be different; it's so flat that it doesn't add any bulk to your phone or the case. It's black, which means it'll stand out if your phone or phone case is a light or bright color, but mine is dark and the disc wasn't that noticeable. The orbiter is what allows you to adjust the position of your phone. Some phone holders keep your phone in one position but this is designed to hold the phone securely at different angles. I had no problems with attaching the two pieces or in using it. It's pretty simple to use too. It worked well for me and I really like having my phone where I can see it now. I especially liked when using a navigation app, that I could glance to see the miles to the next step. It also prevents my phone from falling. I haven't been using it for long, a little more than a week, but I've had no problems. I like that the directions also tell you how to remove the adhesive if you need to take off the dash mount at some point.

I had no expectations when reviewing this mount, but I also didn't have a great place to keep my iPhone 8 Plus in my car while listening to my Audible books on my commute. This mount solved that issue and is low profile enough that sticking it to the back of my case and to my dash was no big issue. Pros: Easy to install and easy to use Affordable Seems durable Cons: Silver magnetic ball can catch some sun and glimmer a bit while driving.

Easy way to keep your phone handy

The Metal Plate is 1 ½ inches in diameter and has 3M 300LSE adhesive, which is strong and will not be an issue for it coming off after you put it on, after it has time to cure, Nite Ize recommends 24 hours. The one issue I had with the adhesive is that there is no tab to help remove the protective cover. You have to be careful not to pull both parts off. Dash Mount has MN VHB Adhesive, which 3M states gets a stronger bond over time. This Adhesive should last a long time on your dash with no issues with it popping off if you let it cure for 24 hours before use. Once again there is no tab to help remove the protective cover of the adhesive. The Orbiter Magnetic Socket has a very strong magnet on both sides of the socket, One for the Dash Mount and one for your phone. The only issue I have with my Nite Ize is that my phone has a protective case with an outer slipcover that causes a problem in two different installation techniques. I first put the Metal Plate directly on the hard inner phone case and the magnet was not strong enough through the soft rubber slipcover to hold the phone in place. I do have a larger phone so this might not be an issue for a smaller phone. The second installation was putting it on the outer slipcover and while the magnet has a stronger connection to the metal plate, the soft slipcover pulls away from the phone and it also seems to pull the plate off of the slipcover if it is at an angle. I have been really enjoying having a place to sit my phone and not worry about it sliding around and getting damaged.

Holds in place with thin case

I had another similar mount that had rubber grips on the ball part and the phone would constantly slide to a different angle. This one holds in place strong. Only use a thin case (or no case) with it though. I have a bigger aluminum and rubber rugged case and its too heavy for it. If your phone has wireless charging, make sure you put the thin metal plate on the phone/case so it doesn't get in the way of that.

    Rugged, flexible, discrete phone mount.

Nite Ize - Dash Mount This is about as rugged and as flexible a phone mount as I’ve ever seen. It accomplishes a secure attachment for your phone while practically disappearing on your dash and on your camera case. Nite Ize has achieved the perfect phone mount. That magnetic “ball + plate” attachment is STRONG and you can be confident your phone won’t shake free. The adhesive that attaches each piece appears to be up to the task. Just be sure that you’ve got at least an inch of smooth, flat space on your car dash and you’re ready to go. Two things to be aware of regarding the phone attachment plate (the car attachment is perfect and has no issues ....... as long as you can find a smooth, flat, useful location): 1- It’s likely that your phone is perfectly smooth and ideal for mounting the “plate”. However, you really want to attach that slim metal disk to the case, so your phone remains re-sellable in the future. It probably comes off with only minimal effort, but it’s just as useful attached to a disposable case. It makes me feel better. 2- Keep in mind that more and more phones allow for Inductive charging (also known as wireless charging). This wireless power transfer MAY no longer work successfully with that metal disk mounted on the rear of your phone. Of course, you can always charge using the phone port for that purpose. Changing cases to one without the Nite Ize metal disk or even careful placement of the disk should also solve this issue.

What a simple idea. A little metal ball that mounts to your car and connects to the back of your phone via the little magnetic seat it can swivel around in. Brilliant. I had two areas of concern before I used this product. First was the magnet. Would it cause any sort of issue with my phone and is it strong enough to hold my rather large cell phone in place? Well I’m happy to say it’s all good here. There are no issues at all with the magnet causing any sort of interference or issues with my phone. I can also say the magnet holds my phone in place just fine. I live in the country on a long and rough unpaved road and if Im going a little faster than I should the phone will shift a bit, but its super easy to realign and really I shouldn’t be going that fast on that road anyways lol. My second area of concern was the adhesive that holds the ball to the dash and the seat to the phone. I’m about 10 days in and no issues at all there either. Before I wrote this I went and tugged a bit on both pieces and they are securely affixed to their locales. All in all, a cool idea that seems to be well realized boasting solid construction with a strong adhesive. This product is exactly what I hoped it was I would happily recommend it to anyone seeking a dash mount phone holder. I used to use one of the plastic types that mount on your air vent, no more, I’m now a Steelie man.

Excellent magnetic qualities. stays in position adjusted to, while easily removable. can remove with just magnetic disc on phone or with mini cup. Only drawback as with non vent holders is that once mounted location is decided, that's 99 percent where it will always be. Love the way it stays in place once mounted.

    Small, Simple and Effective

I haven’t used a phone mount in my car for quite some time. I usually rest it on the console and reach for it when going over bumps or around a curve to keep it from sliding around. I wanted something that didn’t require any drilling or special mounts. I also didn’t want to use a vent mount because I didn’t want to block the airflow, especially in the summer. This mount is small enough to be barely noticeable when not in use, and versatile enough to use in landscape or portrait mode. I found a flat spot on my dash that wouldn’t block any controls or vents. I peeled the backing off the ball and pressed for a few seconds, then put the “socket” on the back of my phone case. That was it. I placed my phone on the mount and it felt solid. After driving over bumps and curves, the phone did not move. One problem I have is that it does not support wireless charging. With the magnetic disk on the back, I have to remove the case to place it on my charger. That is kind of a pain.

    Nite Ize Dash Mount

So I just received my Nite Ize Dash Mount a few days ago and have been using it for the last 3 days. Inside the box is the magnetic dash mount, the orbiter magnetic socket, and a metal plate. After cleaning my dash where I wanted the mount to go, I peeled the backing off the dash mount and attached it to my dash. Next I peeled the backing off the metal plate and attached it to the back of my phone case and attached the orbiter magnetic socket to the plate. Over the last few days the mount had worked flawlessly as I drove around town. However, today the mount came off my dash as it appears the sticky part is no longer adhering to my dash. I went to grab my phone off the mount and the mount came off the dash as well. I would give this a higher rating however, the 3M VHB as they call it on the back of the dash mount is no longer sticking. I will still probably use this mount as I love the whole magnetic concept and it working flawless the last few days. I think I will have to get something stronger to ensure it stays stuck on my dash and not come off when I grab my phone off the orbiter socket. All in all I will recommend this to anyone looking for a nice way to mount and secure their phone while driving. However, buyer beware that you may have to get a stronger adhesive for the dash mount.

This cellphone holder is great. It is based on a ball join that is magnetic. The magnet is pretty powerful. It will hold your phone without falling in the position that you want either horizontally or vertically. The only downside is that needs a clean clear space in your car and for some cars could be challenging. On my Toyota Highlander 2017 I only found one spot and is at one area at the radio that does not have any buttons. Make sure you have an spot before you buy.
