The best film of 2014 so far was not in theaters, it was on HBO. And now it is on disc and it is amazing. Incredible acting, a powerful script by the original playwright, Larry Kramer-- and, this is a surprise, Ryan Murphy's first time in a long time -- directing a film in which he did not drop the ball. This one is on par with some of the best films ever made about gay rights: Milk, Angels in America-- this is not to be missed.

An entire generation of men died in the 80s and Normal Heart reflects that time in a most unique and compelling way. Having lived in NY and actually aware of GMHC's services, this film brings the viewer into the 'frame' of how it came to be, the brave men that struggled to help, and how survival leaves its scars; you don't have to be a 60+ widow(er) to be touched by this film

This is a powerful and moving film that breathes real life into the history and facts of the AIDS epidemic, and the tremendous array of the spectrum of the gay lifestyle. Ryan Murphy has shown his talents yet again with this film, making it heart-warming, heart-breaking, and completely unforgettable. Don't watch this film to feel good, watch it for the power of the story itself.

What a great movie. The Normal Heart is a heartfelt movie that shows the reality of the start of the AIDS epidemic in the 80's in NYC and the ignorance of the Reagan Era. It shows the hurt and and humanity and the love of the human spirit and the resolve to never give up fighting for the ones we love. No matter who you are, Don't miss this movie.

Phenomenal movie about the misconceptions and fears of HIV / AIDS in the early 80's especially by our government. Mark Ruffalo, Matt Bomer, Julia Roberts and Jim Parson were absolutely amazing! Not surprised that this movie received 16 Emmy nominations. This was truly a raw and emotional film that was brilliantly done.

This is a very timely and most needful movie. There is still great risk out there and both denial, and disbelief. This movie slows the real world and doesn't hold back. The story is well casted, flows well and holds your attention. The quality of the filming seems good to me, though I am a layperson.

Some movies are so wonderful you are behooved to upgrade them to blu-ray and this is one of them. The story is poignant and heartbreaking but not without hope. All of the actors were great, especially Matt Boomer and Julia Roberts.

This is one of the AID's movies that I have seen in a long time. I have cared for AID's client's since 1988, and this tell of the struggle to live and the medical personal that were there for all that have been infected. Thank you.

HIV-AID crisis in New York City in the early 1980s. It is an look at the nation's politics, it has great actors Mark Ruffalo, Matt Bomer, Taylor Kitsch with Jim Parsons and Julia Roberts.

I learned a tremendous amount about this terrible illness that afflicted so many before my time. The acting is supreme and the story is a real tearjerker.

This movie is very intense. Acting is above average. Really did not know much about the aids crisis - this movie shows the dark side and the struggle to get help. I can see why it was up for so many awards.

Based on the stunning play, this is a tough one to get through at times. Some of the acting seems too over the top at times, but that's not so bad. It's a highly dramatic story about a very dramatic time.

I really liked this movie. It has an awesome cast Jim Parsons, Julia Roberts etc. It is a sad movie about a serious topic so be prepared to cry

This is an important movie that everyone should see. It teaches a valuable lesson. The price was excellent the first week and as always I have no complaints.
