Customers are saying

Customers admire the GeForce GTX 970 4GB GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 Graphics Card's performance, graphics capabilities, and relatively quiet operation. Many appreciate its ease of installation and good price point, although some found the card's size to be a drawback. Concerns were also raised regarding the card's memory capacity and its effective use of available memory. Overall, the positive feedback on performance and ease of use outweighs the negative comments about size and memory limitations.

    Great GPU

I upgraded from my Galaxy GTX 760 GC to the GTX 970 and will not be looking back. This card handles any game at utra settings and is a beast. I record videos so to be able to play in 1080P and record with shadowplay at 4K is amazing. For video editing down sampling to 1080 makes the videos pop that much more. Just from running some benchmarks on 3dmark firestrike my old 760 scored: 6,142. Where the GTX 970 scored: 10,420. This is with a stock clock I-7 3770K. If you are looking for a new GPU I would go with the 970. Also, boost clocks in game have gone as high as 1300mhz and beyond, I might be squeezing some more power out of it even with the reference design.

lowest price nvidia gtx card with reference blower

I needed a rear exhaust graphics card because of restricted airflow in Lian Li TU200 mini itx case. I wanted a high quality Nvidia reference blower card, but could not afford a $550-$650 gtx 980. Best Buy matched price on same Nvidia gtx 970 at Newegg for $353, the only two places it is available. Seems much more sturdy than custom cooled cards, with a built-in backplate. Last reference card to be built by Nvidia. Got free ($59 value) Batman:Arkam Knight game code. No buyer remorse whatsoever.

I have a smaller mATX case (Silverstone FT-03) and I was looking for a nice, quiet GTX 970. I knew I wanted a blower cooler since with a small case like this the CPU cooler was going to sucking in hot air otherwise. I was considering one of the cards from ASUS or MSI with the auto fan-off feature (for noise considerations) but in the end I decided the blower cooler was more important. I've been really impressed with how quiet this card is, especially compared to the cheap blower coolers that you get on most other cards these days. I can barely hear the noise from the fan either at idle or while gaming (the normal whir from my HDD is almost louder) and the sound that is present gets lost in the background; not distracting at all. I can't speak to the performance of the cooler from a temperature standpoint since I don't push it too hard (yet), but from what I've read from other owners it's a fairly cool card considering the single fan.

NVIDIA 970 GTX is a good choose for new games, it is quiet while you are playing with the highest setting and the NVIDA model is outstanding. Cons: It´s huge, so check your computer case.

I first tried the evga version of this card, and it stuttered and seem to have problems precisely as many others stated. I then purchased this card. Couldn't be happier, seriously ... It's in a pci express version 1 slot, and it smokes! All games gta v, etc. run in ultra detail in full 1080p! This card made a 5 yr old pc like brand new! Highly recommended. Beware though... This card is very long, I had to remove one of my hard drives to get it to fit.

This is a great base model of the gtx 970. Purchased after my evga gtx 780sc died and was impressed that it performed a tiny bit better than the old card, especially with gta V. Was even able to overclock the card to get a few more fps without issues so the silicon on the card must be decent quality. The infamous memory architecture problem didn't affect any high end games I played unless I cranked the settings to ridiculous levels (max AA & detail, 2k+ resolution) and used upscaling so not an issue for me despite all the negative media. The only major cons are that the stock fan is pretty noisy when compared to custom coolers like evga and asus and the variable led on the card has crashed the video drivers a couple of times when set to audio mode. The cheap price for this model of the 900 series (got on sale for $320) more than makes up for those issues though and overall I'm very happy with the unexpected upgrade.

This review if for the actual NVIDEA card. I found it a great card for the price I paid (BB did a price match with another type of 970) and my getting the latest Tomb Raider game free. The issue you see in reviews and forums on whether the card has or not 4GBs has, in my case, no bearing in playing my games at highest setting. It substituted my EVGA GTX 260s (SLI, dual) and runs everything better--although I would have continued with my old cards were it not for their Directx 10 limitation. Why no 5 stars? Well, because the NVIDIA GeForce Experience program that installs keeps indicating that new drivers are available but will not download them. I have tried leaving mssgs at the NVIDIA site but no luck yet. I may end up having to call.

I was a little worried when I opened this up. Didn't look like it'd fit in our two dell xps 8700s that we were putting them in for CAD and Revit work. Fit like a glove. Runs very quiet even under load and worked great for our purposes. Very fast renderings of complex 3D models. Also looks kinda cool with the GeForce GTX970 logo glowing green through the side ventilation holes on the machines. Haven't tried these out in a gaming rig yet.

Overall with the 970 reference card I have not seen any performance issues in terms of the 4gb of memory. After doing a little research it seems that the NVIDIA reference card uses samsung memory instead of Hynix memory. Hynix memory has seen some issues in the past with overall quality. Also a good choice if you don't want to dish out an extra $200 for the next model up to relieve a 10% increase in performance.

If you want a good graphics card that won't break the bank, this is for you. I honestly wasn't even expecting it to be as good as it is. It has blown me away. Whether it is editing videos, using photoshop, using illustrator, or gaming at 1080p on max settings, this gpu performs. I would highly recommend this card.

This is an excellent graphics card upgrade for anyone that needs a boost for gaming. This card is built by Nvidia and uses their reference design, which is kind of cool visually compared to the other manufacturers like EVGA and only available at Best Buy as well.

This card runs the most recent games at ultra settings with no problems. It has performed extremely well for me. I have run it on a 1080 monitor, so I can't speak to UHD or VR performance. The card has one fan, which is less than most of the 970s by other manufacturers, but it has a big radiator style cooler that seems to more than make up for it. In my computer it never runs hot, even after a whole day of constant gaming. Looks cool with the big GeForce GTX logo on the side in glowing green. I didn't buy it for looks, but it's cool anyway. The card is big, so make sure you have space. I'm extremely happy with this and recommend it without hesitation.

I'm coming from 2 Gtx 760, which were no slouch. I just wanted to try something new. My cards were almost 3 years old. So now I have 2 Gtx 970 running a 4 monitor setup. Every game on ultra.

This is a good option for my needs. It can handle triple monitors. The 4 GB is actually 3.5 + .5 GB setup. So at top speed you will only have access to 3.5, but that is plenty of performance for a single card and my needs. But, you should be informed of what your getting. Very reliable card so far.

This is the Nvidia-branded reference model of the GTX970, exclusive to Best Buy. Fantastic card, best price/performance ratio of the current crop of gfx chips, runs cool even under load. Can handle anything I've thrown at it in 1080p at 60fps or higher on high settings.

This card is a beast. I have crisis 3 and shadows of Mordor with all settings maxed out on ultra and getting about 50-60 fps with C3 and 60-80 fps with Mordor. I am over clocking it a bit and the temps stay cool. I'm also using a icore7 and 8 gigs of ram OC slightly. With this card everything is running super smooth.
