The new remote control also receives significant praise, along with the device's streaming capabilities and upscaling features. It doesn’t get better than this!
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Firstly, I have the Nvidia Shield TV 2017 version and absolutely love it. I’m not much of a gamer and use it primarily for daily streaming apps, Plex and Third Party apps. It was frustrating that Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos were unavailable on streaming apps. I now feel that Nvidia Shield has delivered the perfect all in one streaming device for me. AI upscaling works really well on non 4K content (especially on YouTube and Netflix content), Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos, Tegra X1+ chip (definitely improves the speed of the device), SD slot for expandable storage. Just like any tech, there’s always room for a little improvement. This is what’s still lacking, but really is so insignificant to me right now... •Doesn’t do HDR for YouTube •No HDR10+ •No Wi-Fi 6 •No HDMI 2.1 One more thing for those that buy this device for third party apps. You will notice that the app “Downloader” is no longer in the google play store. No worries...just download “Puffin Browser”. Search for www.google.com in the “Search or type URL”. Once that opens up, just search for Downloader and download from there. I saw another reviewer who said Puffin didn’t work, but he or she is wrong because it worked perfectly for me getting Downloader.

If it’s not a shield you’re wasting your money
||Posted . Owned for 8 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I also have the previous 2 versions of the Shield and have always been pleased with them. This one is by far the best and, to me, a great upgrade from the 2017 Shield. It is considerably faster than before, searching and responding almost instantly with a fast internet connection. Even using Wi-Fi, it tested at over 50 MBPS from a 400 MBPS wired Comcast connection. The 4K upgrading works great and on an LG OLED TV the picture quality is outstanding using the medium sharpness setting. The new remote is a huge improvement over the original and even a lot better than the after market one I had purchased to replace the goofy OEM remote on the previous version. The initial installation is the best I have ever seen. It pretty much set itself up by just entering the phone # on my Google account. I like the new form factor and just let it hang behind the Television completely out of sight. The voice command seems faster and more accurate than previously. I am not sure if there is a limit to the size micro SD car it supports, its not mentioned in the Microscopic little guide provided or on the Nvidia website. It does work with a 256 GB card, that was the largest I had available.

||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I use Nvidia Shield throughout my home. This is my 6th one, and it's easy to install and set up. I haven't paid for cable TV in over 10 years.

Big improvement on the remote.
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have the 2019 pro version as well. The Nvidia Shield TV devices are awesome. The new remote is a big improvement but there is still room to grow. My favorite remote is still the Samsung One remote. Sometimes less is more with the buttons Nvidia. A home icon guess a long way for guests in our house that are not well versed with Android's dot home button. This device is great for streaming and for our YouTube TV experience as we cut the cord years ago. The updated UI is great but I wish it had a My Library section for our Google Movies and TV shows like it does on Google TV. For gaming, the Nvidia Shield devices are stellar. Stadia is awesome, works with the Stadia controller and Xbox controllers. Nvidia GeForce Now is good, not great but good. Steam Link works flawlessly. For all three of these services you need a great, hard wired internet connection. I hope the updates and innovation keeps coming from Nvidia with their Shield devices.

SmartTV
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I loved NVIDA Shield with IPTV Tivimate app for TV live. Very easy use and great feature. The cost is very expensive but worth. I got rid of TV cable because it crazily killed my money 150 monthly; it will be increased per monthly an annual without contract.

Closest thing to a console
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Game streaming with this is as good as it’ll get. I played cyberpunk nonstop for a week when it came out and never had any issues. My friend with a gaming pc told me game runs smoother on my shield (I have 200mbit fiber connecter to the shield with an ethernet cable).

Not a bad product
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I like that im able to use chromecast for youtube; its makes it extremely easy to search for videos because i can use my phones keyboard. Even after multiple updates, i get extreme delay when using the remote that comes with the device. Theres not enough ram and experience lag when quickly flipping through channels. Overall decent product. If youre going to pay for this one, its worth it to drop the extra $50 and get the model above this one. I wish i had.

Excellent choice for streaming shows and games
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We have had other streaming devices for years. After months of our Roku having issues, my tech-savvy son recommended we go with the Shield. I'm still getting used to the slight differences in the interface and the remote, but so far it is working up to expectations. Everything is an Android app and is tied to a designated Google Play account. You can customize the home screen, too. One feature we have enjoyed on the home screen is that the Netflix line shows a combination of the most recently watched series and shows they think you'd like. Clicking on the actual show opens up Netflix at the next episode, saving you a few clicks. The teen and young adults in the house have also used it to play games from their computers on the big screen. I suspect this is part of what they wanted.

Possibly the best streamer
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have to give this piece of hardware the credit it deserves. It works extremely well. It's very fast and can handle almost anything I throw at at. It also upscales lower quality content to near 4K using built in hardware. I even see a difference on a regular 1080P monitor. I have to address some complaints other reviews had about it; it doesn't have that much on-board storage or RAM. The storage you can get around by adding a SD card. The RAM shortage might not be noticeable, it's just limits you from playing certain games. But if you don't use this for games, then it doesn't matter. Lastly, there might be an app or two that might not work with the software. It uses Google's Android TV software. Most popular streaming apps are here, such as Netflix, Hulu and so on. I just noticed that it doesn't support my CableTV provider's app. My intention was to use this as an alternative to a leased cable box. If that is what your looking to do with this device, you might want to double check with your TV provider. Otherwise, excellent device. I don't have any real complaints about it. Price could be a little lower, but the quality is so good, I didn't mind so much. I wish other streamers can be this good.

Best streamer bar none
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If your into streaming then this Nvidia Shield is what your looking for. This is our 4th device we getting for our spare BR. We use the Pro in the family room, living room and Master BR, and thought we would go all Nvidia and replace the "other device" that was outdated for when the Grandkids visit, or we have company that stays over. As the 3 Pros are this is fast, easy to navigate and delivers a flawless picture. This model dont have the 16 G storage the other 3 have , but 8 G will be more than enough to keep any visitor entertained.

Amazing upscaling and ease of use
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Note: I'm not a huge video person, I don't have a great sense of color, sharpness, etc. So I can't say if this is truly the best picture quality or not. This is a great device. I brought it for the AI upscaling feature, since most of my content consumption is anime that's typically 1080p. The upscaling works amazingly well for anime. I tested the Shield for Netflix and anime against a Chromecast Ultra and an Apple TV, with this winning out. The Apple TV might have slightly better colors, but that's not a huge deal to me (and it was case by case). The other huge benefit over the apple TV was the remote. The Nvidia remote's triangular shape looks weird at first, but it's comfortable in the hand and has backlit buttons. I also make use of the chromecasting feature often, it's convenient for stuff that's easier to find on my laptop, but I still want to watch on my TV. I've enjoyed using this a lot and highly recommend it.

Fantastic streaming device
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was a little concerned about the price and quality considering it is a small streaming device, but it is Nvidia after all. I am not disappointed. Wow what a awesome device well worth the money. Very fast device, very flexible, very versatile. There is little this device cannot do from gaming to excellent high quality streaming. With ai upscaling and multiple sound output formatting options the sky is the limit with this. The pro is better if you are looking for higher end gaming but I stream. Apk’s can be installed for custom apps. All in all this is the best streaming device you can buy in my opinion. When you but this get a micro sad at the same time minimum of 128 gb. Again this is in my opinion the best streaming device out there.

This is it - the best streamer on the market!
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This thing is incredible. If you’re an owner of a 4K tv and stream a lot of content this is practically a must have. It features an upscaling technique, assisted by AI, that is unmatched currently. It practically converts 1080p content to an upscaled 4K image that is nearly indistinguishable from the real thing. You can even use a UI slider to see it a real-time before and after demo. On top of this it has a great interface and because it’s based on Android nearly every streaming app is supported - the only missing app I’ve noticed is Apple TV.
