I've had my fair share of media players over the years, but the Nvidia Shield is my favorite so far. I use it mainly for running KODI, but also for other apps like YouTube, Netflix, HBO Now, Hulu, etc. I really like the fact that it has HDMI 2.0 which allows 4k output at 60hz and displays a smooth awesome picture. Yes, the Shield is more expensive than most, if not all the rest of the current media players currently out on the market. But in my opinion it is well worth it considering the hardware / tech specs, quality, functionality, appearance, ease of use, and initial setup of the Shield. I've recommended it to all my friends and family !!!

This Streaming box is absolutely amazing. It supports a multitude of Video and Audio Codecs, 4k 60FPS, Surround Sound Pass-through, HDR and a lot of features for power users. It's extremely fast in gaming/application performance, has 2.4/5GHz AC for fast network speed (also has ethernet) and has the capability of expanding its internal storage via a fast microSD. It can also now be used as a Plex Server. This thing does it all! My favorite activities with it include using the GeForce NOW service to stream high-resolution games over the network and enjoying the gameplay without requiring me to purchase a $1,000+ computer. Though one of the BEST features is the ability to route the sound to the Controller or Remote via a headphone jack. You can have those late-night Netflix sessions without waking the neighbors!

I was looking at this and another 4k streaming box to attach to my new TV since the built in apps suck. I like the shield due to fact it has Google cast built in, so any app that lets you cast can be used in addition to the local store apps. The speed and picture quality are excellent as well.

This is one the greatest piece of device I've ever purchased. I use mostly for kodi, and the speed is amazing. The image looks amazing too in 4k. Even if you don't have a 4k tv, the picture quality looks so crispy and clear. Speed of the device is super fast. I would recommend this for anyone looking for gaming and streaming kodi, apps like sling, youtube, etc... My only complain is that this device was offered as a black friday deal with a FREE remote and I did not get it. I spoke with a customer specialist and the supervisor of the store and they could not order one for me since it had been sold out. Big disappointment.

This is what a streaming device sd houl d be Fast, slick and with enoug graphical horsepower to stream 4k content or upscale other content. As a bonus, you can use it to stream your entire library of Video games from your computer as long as you have an nvidia graphics card. The gamestream.feature is awesome and truly sets this device apart. Nice job nvidia!!

great streamer and 4k and gaming a plus enjoying every bit of it

The Shield is a great product, easy to set up and use straight out of the box. The only issue I am having is due to its dependence on the Google Play store for apps and games. I wish this device would be more cross compatible with different streaming services (such as Showtime Anytime, Amazon Prime- except google and amazon dont play well together).

When it comes to streaming videos and games the shield is unmatched in a very crowded market. I have purchased and used nearly every device available the last 3 years and nothing is as smooth as the Shield. The voice remote is simply amazing, it even pulls up youtube videos like it was built by google. The gaming controller is very similar to my XBox One and feels really comfortable. I thought I would not replace my Fire TV but the Shield has taken over. This machine runs Kodi better than any machine available right now. For a total entertainment device, get the Shield, your family will be happy you did.

Extremely powerful. Great multimedia capabilities via plex and kodi. Emulation is great, you can even run some GameCube games at full speed via Dolphin. Overall an awesome box. I do wish more titles were designed for Android TV, but there are always more coming. And the game streaming more than makes up for it.

This is simply the best streaming box money can buy. 4K streaming on Netflix and YouTube looks amazing and it is extremely fast. I would recommend it to anyone who requires more features than your average streaming box such as: Chromecast, Apple TV (old model), or Roku Stick.

I bought this mainly to stream media via Kodi. What made this stand out for me was the ability to stream 4k video. It's really fast in response and load times and has great quality. I haven't tried any games with the controller yet but that was a secondary feature for me. The only con I have seen with it is the volume control. I would prefer volume buttons, the touch control for the volume isn't as responsive or easy to control as it could be. I would highly recommend this product. There are cheaper products that would work for streaming like the m8s+ but I am satisfied and happy with my purchase.

Fastest processor, 4K, game controllers, sleek, sturdy remote, many features, KODI pre installed no need to load it. I have 2 of these units, 1 pro 500gb and 1 16gb unit. I also have 2 amazon fire tv units and 1 roku 3. The roku 3 is in the closet collecting dust it has not caught up with NVIDIA or Amazon Fire yet. NVIDIA is the most expensive unit but you are getting the fastest processor the competition does not even come close. NVIDIA is well worth the money.

The Nvidia shield is an Android based topbox. I was very interested in trying out GRID. Their streaming game service. For the most part it works well. I would highly recommend you having a good internet connection to get the best performance. With my connection I was able to get 1080P with 60 FPS. It was awesome. All the Batman games played perfectly with some minor hiccups when there were too many enemies on the scream. The other issue was shooters, the small amout of lag input was noticeable and was kinda bothersome. Still an awesome device if you have the chance to try it.

I absolutely love this device. It's powerful enough for anything that you can throw at it all bundled up in a sleek design fit for any top home theater system. This is an impressive product for the right consumer. I say "right consumer" because it's niche is a very powerful video streaming player as well as a great video game player as well. It allows you to play Google Play store games, Shield Games, as well as GeForce Now games right on your big screen TV. The 3 gbs of RAM and your choice of 16 GBs to 500 GBs of storage space (plus the ability to add an external hard drive) makes for the best streaming/gaming out there. Plus the 4K capabilities of this makes it a no brainer to buy. The price tag is great if you are interested in utilizing it to its fullest potential. The 16 GB unit comes with both a Bluetooth gaming controller that resembles an Xbox controller as well as the regular controller that has an awesome solid feel to it. You can also talk to either of of the controllers to have it automatically search for anything that you want to watch. Unfortunately the 500 GB unit only comes with the gaming controller and you have to buy the other one separately. I am extremely pleased with this purchase and I am sure that you will be too.

Nvidia Shield tv is an excellent built hardware and offers great experience of online tv. The video quality is by far the best one (even better color rendering that the inbuilt smart option in the tv) and offers smoother experience in operation. The device has some minuses as compared to the other android tv boxes/stick in the market but all because of the android tv OS, if it was the android OS then it could be the best streaming device from operation point of view also as air mouse doesn't work perfectly with the device. Overall a must have device if you want to experience excellent video quality.

It's the best device to play android games on a TV. It has google cast (Chromecast) built into it. If you are into gaming especially with the family this is a good investment if it fits your budget. I expect the Google TV platform to continue to get better, and the shield hardware should still be relevant for a few more years.... With that said, if you just want to stream digital content (Netflix, Hulu, PBS Kids, etc..), buying a $35 Chromecast is probably the better value buy at this point. I own both products and think you can't go wrong either way!

Best streaming box period! Fast processor, beautiful interface, great performance. My only knock against it is the remote control is sold separately and is $50.

This is THE media device for a powerful home. It has HDMI 2.0 w/HDCP 2.2, Is compatible with HDR, 4K 60FPS and a slew of media features like audio-passthrough through ARC. It's extremely fast, sleek and has an amazing library of content (4K Netflix, Vudu, Epix, Hulu, et al). It can run as a powerful Plex Media SERVER with GPU transcoding and it's just amazing all around.

If you are looking to watch movies and tv shows, this is by far the best box for the job. This can do 4k, HDR 10 bit, and HEVC files without any problems or lagging or skipping, even at high bitrates. The shield can also handle almost all audio codecs. I believe the max is 7 channels, but it can do DTS:X and Atmos 3d audio, as well as DTS-HD and Dolby TruHD which are the lossless codecs. The voice control works great and will work even better once this box gets upgraded to a Google Home for free. The remote and controller are both great. Nvidia doesn't leave the product in the dust, they continually provide updates. This 2015 edition can be the exact same as the new 2017 version if you only buy a $60 controller. This can also stream games from you PC or NVidia's cloud (for a fee). This functions like a Steam Link, but it provides 7 channels of audio, 4k and HDR which the Steam Link can't handle. Android games also work on here, as well as some games NVidia modifies to run specifically on the Shield like Borderlands or The Witness. They run without a PC to stream from. If you are looking for a Google Home, and Steam Link, and a Chromecast all in one, this is the device to get. It does the same those do, but it does them better. Buy this, you wont regret it.
