I love this thing. I built my own Kodi device with a Raspberry Pi and this works much the same but easier. I'm not a tech open source wiz and don't like updating everything all the time. I'm a graphic designer that uses Mac because it's simple and reliable. And I have 4 Apple TVs. This device is just as simple to use but with some awesome extras like Kodi. My wife loves it, so I win. Win here, win there, win win everywhere.

I have had numerous models of tv players before the shield android tv and by far this one is the best even outperforming my intel i7 with 16gb of memory. Everything just works as it is supposed to including being able to control with my tv remote right out of the box. This one is a keeper for me

The shield is great. I had some trouble streaming games at first but found out quickly that is was my computers problem not the shield. After Ironing things out this thing is a beast. Streams everything I throw at it. I purchased this to replace my WD Tv box and It plays all video files and adds so much more with KODI installed.

This Nvidia shield a Great streaming device. I was able to download Kodi television and watch endless movies on the shield. The video games that I can lay on the shield are Great and it came with a cool video game controller. Have Great fun with this one guys and gals.

I LOVE my shield! Android TV has matured enough that it is easy enough for my wife and elderly inlaws to use. I never thought I would see my mother in law using KODI but sure enough she figured it out. The hardware is outstanding, I often use gamestream to play games from my gaming computer I have down in the basement flawlessly. I completely replaced paying my TV provider rental fees by hooking up a HDHomerun and using my shield to watch TV. I cannot recommend it enough, A must have!

Streams better than any other product I have used, fantastic at gaming of course but a few wrinkles that I'm sure will be ironed out shortly. Overall well worth the cost for all the value included in the unit.

The shield is hands down the very best streaming device you can buy. This simply blows away the Roku and the FireTV by orders of magnitude. The build quality is superior and the software experience is phenomenal. The game streaming adds a huge cherry on top as well!

I absolutely love my Nvidia Shield! It has a lot of features like running android apps and games to running Netflix, Hulu, and Kodi. This is the best for running Kodi. It can also run Netflix in 4k as well as youtube in 4k which for me is a definite plus. Nvidia put a lot of power in this little box. I hardly ever get any buffering when streaming video in Hd or 4k. Be sure to pick up a micro sd card for additional storage. I love the retro gaming apps from the google play store also. I can't even name all the things it can do as I'm still learning myself lol. I've been watching youtube videos to learn about all the different things you can do with the Nvidia Shield. Great buy! I may even buy the pro version for my man cave room in my house.

I have searched long and hard for a device that could play mainstream streaming media such as Netflix and Hulu while also playing my own personal movie files via Windows SMB. I've found devices that do one or the other, but not both.......until now with Kodi! Problem solved

Streaming my pc games through the shield no problems at all. Just make sure your on a 5ghz band. I stream 4k content to this thing and works flawless. Basically this is the top of the line android box that you can get at the moment, i would definitely recommend it to anybody.

Fast and smooth! Easy and quick setup. Controller and remote are user friendly.

There are some flaws. The biggest being controller pairing issues. It could also use more available apps without sideloading. That said, this is the best AndroidTV device by far. 4K future proofs it. Now they need to get some more 4K partners like Mgo and Vudu. This should be the primary 4K streamer now and in the future if Nvidia keeps working at software and providers.

I have been a google tv users for years and have always been looking for an upgrade. none of the current devices felt good enough to replace my google tv but this device just performs great, has a better remote than nexus player and very powerful so streaming is really fast. great device !!

Only used streaming and games in the 10+ days I have owned the Nvidia Shield. Very impressed with speed and flexibility. Not too many games unless you use Nvidia Game center - only free for 3 months or Google+ - which gives Google play Streaming is good. Voice search is ok - not Apple TV good. Like USB 3.0 ports which allows you to stream form personal USB drives - using KODI Kids happy with Game play using shield controller

Out of the box, it's quite good with streaming video support for Netflix, Hulu, Plex, Kodi, etc... There are plenty of games too. However, for advanced users, it runs emulators very well and is a great digital entertainment hub. HDMI-CEC works flawlessly with it too, whereas my Nexus Player was problematic.

I use an HDHOMERUN and Pluto TV for live tv, and Netflix and Amazon. I was using a Rasberry Pi with Kodi and Plex, but the NVIDIA Shield works much better and has the added benefit of doing gaming. Amazon doesn't allow its video on this device, which is unfortunate (and a good reason to drop Prime). Otherwise, this is a perfect device for cordcutters.

The NVidia streaming device works very well to bring all your streaming apps in one place and the android operating system is easy to tweak to your specifications. At the sale price of half off regular price this is a good investment to not only stream but to connect multiple devices in one place in your home.

you can do some light gaming with this and the included controller or if you pay the subcription you can even stream new-ish PC titles to it through nvidia's "cloud gaming" platform. I made a big deal about the streaming aspect of it in the title because it's just true. Sure, most TVs that would take advantage of the full 4K60 support this offers are already smart TVs anyway but since this runs androidTV you can do much more. Even the built in TV apps can't launch as fast as apps can on this box. I can't even notice a delay on netflix from the moment i press play to when the video starts on the 4K titles they offer.

This particular Nvidia Shield was purchased on clearance(Total $191.24 includes Tax) through Bestbuy online due to being the older 2015 model. I was pleasantly surprized that this one came with the game controller and remote included. This was not an open box or refubrished unit. Setup was straight forward and all updates were applied to the unit, controller and remote. No pairing issues with the aforemenetioned accessories. My inital plan was to use it for a Plex Server but I am not 100% sure that is the direction I will be going due to a recent article indicating some limitations when using it as a Plex Media Server. I am going to look a little deeper before I make a final decision. My experience to date and it's limited due to a short time of ownership is the Nvidia Shield works and yes it's fast but much like all the other competitors certain things are not always easily implemented. I was able to use a wireless Logitecn Keyboard k400 and it functioned correctly even under Kodi. The footprint of the unit isn't an issued for me. I know one of selling points of the newer model is the reduction in size but I like the features that the older model provided, and were removed in the newer unit. I am not able to make any comments in regards to it gaming ability. I am not a gamer but intital intent was for a Plex Media Server... Being somewhat of gadget geek I have no real issue working around these type of devices. My quest for years was to cut the TV cable cord from the only viable provider in my area Cox cable. I haven't ended my relation with Cox completely because they offer the best internet service in my area. I haven't found a box yet that will provide all particular services and features I would like in one unit out the box. I own and have owned AppleTV(all versions), Roku(all versions), Amazon FireTV, ArnuBox Mach 10 Pure Linux and now the Nvidia Shield. They all functioned as advertized. I have years of diiferent types of media from family videos(different formats), movies(iTunes/Amazon) pictures, music(iTunes/Amazon & CDs), etc. that I woould like to be accessible with the ease of point and click but acheiving that has not yet arrived at my house. My personal favorite for look and ease of use is the AppleTV. Also because everyone in my household has no problem navigating this device My first choice for Kodi at the moment is the ArnuBox Mach 10 Pure Linux. Roku, Amazon FireTV are both excellent boxes. I haven't come to a full consensus on the Nvidia Shield yet due to short time of ownership. If time allows I will try to do a follow-up.

This is an awesome product gets so much more use than i thought skip the smart tv get a dumb tv and this. Not necessarily for "hardcore" gamers but for casual gaming its amazing gave new life to games i play on my phone game streaming works great as does the game hub
