I was looking to upgrade from my Amazon Fire TV device. Looking for more storage space and better streaming with less buffering. Didn't care if I had to spend money for better performance. The Nvidia Shield TV was well worth the money I spent. Streams movies and live tv apps much better than the less expensive devices. The gaming controller works great as remote controller and as a mouse while web seaching.

Took excessive steps to finally get working. Had to install, uninstall and install multiple times. This was the "fix" that their online chat personnel walked me through. Once it was able to connect to my pc, it works as advertised. recommend a wired connection as using this over WiFi caused some lag issues.

I got the Shield game edition to add to my 65inch QLED, I have to say, the picture is ten times better then before when streaming 4k. The Android system updated to 8.1 as soon as it was set up, and I definitely recommend getting one. Hands down better then roku or firestick.. Not to mention the gaming.

I love my nvidia shield. This is my second one I’ve bought and I mainly use it for streaming. It works great with Kodi and my 7 year old loves to play the games on it.

If you want a top quality device for streaming and bonus gaming this is the one you want.... although more expensive than an amazon stick/cube I believe this is well worth the price .. get one to see how it compares to other devices. If you know how to side load apps you have many items to chose from (highly recommend you learn)

This would rate a 5 if it was not for the remote, we got an 11 dollar remote we ordered, with a keyboard and an arrow to do the job. The other reason it got a 4 instead of a 5 is because occasionally we have to unplug and count to 5 to get it to come back on, but that could be an operator error, as we are new to this stuff. The fact that you can add extra storage and the fact that you can land line to your TV are great, but most impressive is how the company updates to keep the machine current. I am so impressed with this machine overall that I have purchases 2 for friends as well. Hope they get a new remote soon

I have the amazon fire sticks and they are not as responsive as the shield. I like the shield for its performance. Since getting the shield I've dropped cable tv service entirely and saved a ton of money. I like the small remote with the volume control on it as I do not need a separate remote just to turn the tv on and adjust the volume. The fire stick needed the tv remote to adjust the volume.

I managed to pick this nifty little gadget over the holidays and WOW, am I amazed at it's capabilities! I was considering upgrading my old Apple TV to take full advantage of my recent 4k tv purchase and then this came up on sale on a deal for Black Friday for $159.99. Now I'm a gamer, but not an Android user, so when I saw this deal, I decided to take a leap of faith and hit the PURCHASE button. The item was not in stock, but the shipping was free, so I waited for a couple of days, it actually arrived a day early! Setup was easy, and after filling out some basic Google information, the Shield was ready to go! 4K streaming did take a little bit of tweaking, but it was mostly due to an old HDMI cable and a TV setup issue. Once I got that taken care off, I was off to gaming and streaming 4k - 60 fps goodness on my 55-inch screen! Now I can play my Steam Games, Plex Media Server, Hulu, Netflix, Sling, Youtube and many other streaming services and apps, plus also enjoy GeForce NOW games for free* (for the time being!) This combined with a great deal I found on a Samsung soundbar has filled my electronic geek heart's cockles with a warm joy (squeee!) I had not felt in a long while...needless to say, my Apple TV is now off and I may consider selling it on eBay...!

It’s very limited on Android games but brings plenty of other games that make it feel like a console. Main reason you would want this however is the game stream feature for streaming your PC to your TV it doesn’t bog your computer down and lets you play smoothly with a controller

NVIDIA hasdone an amazing job with this, it has all of your typical Android TV plus Amazon Prime video, GeForce Now (Stream NVIDIA/Steam games). This is like a small gaming console, I can play 4k games through my 300mbps internet connection. Google Assisntant is the only thing that isn't perfect, chromecast support is not as robust as Google's chromecast devices, and pulling up the assistant on the device is quite slow and sluggish. Everything else is awesome, very smooth and snappy. You can install any Android app on it, I would definitely recommend this over any other device out there.

The new 2017 NVIDIA Shield TV is everything you love about the previous version and much more. Under the hood is still the most powerful processor available in a streaming box. The box itself is so much smaller now. The new controller is a much better design. Just feels good in your hands. Having the remote included in the box and not a separate purchase now is a nice touch. Highly recommended.

I have two of these and both are fantastic. They are now effectively my cable box, as I cut the cord to actual cable and satellite. You can seamlessly move between video streaming services and YouTube TV / Hulu Live TV both work well. i found the device more powerful and easier to use than the Roku I used to have.

I bought this based on very good reviews. I have a Roku Premier+ and 2 weeks ago I switched it out for the Nvidia Shield gaming edition and have found it to be a step up from the Roku. It has much more capability and is still easy to use. I did find the Game controller easier to use than the Remote because I'm use to the XBox type controller.

It has taken a while but I think its safe to say the Nvidia Sheild is the best streaming device you can buy today. But that doesn't make it the best choice for everyone. I am not a cord cutter. I do have a cable connection but I don't use the cable company's set top box. I have a cable card that streams all but premium channels to my Shield. Its not as simple as using the set top box but I really only watch news and sports so it works great for that. I push one button on my single Shield remote and it turns on the Shield, Receiver and TV. Its just that simple. From there is have TV and all of the Google TV apps right at my finger tips. I will keep the cable bill to a minimum and I have tons of content, more than I could ever watch. Setting this all up is not hard and its only the use of the cable card that makes it a bit more complicated and a non-issue if you don't use a cable card. Another issue with the Shield is it does have gaming features some may not need but they are not required to fully use the device. My take, if you are a cord cutter or can settle with having non premium cable content on your TV this is the device to get. The rumor is the Shield will be able to access premium content in the future but don't buy for what a device might do buy it for what it can do. I have two Shields now and I give Nvidia kiddos for keeping the device current to the latest version of Android.

I gotta say this is impressive, exceeded my expectations. Now for streaming stuff from Netflix or Hulu it's just like any other device out there, Roku or Fire tv, you won't be able to tell a difference there. But this Nvidia Shield has the gaming part down, this is the best part. It gives ya a bunch of free games that run really well! I doubt this will replace an Xbox or PS but if you're not a hardcore gamer and just game for fun then this is really all you need. So if you're looking for a dual purpose device, stream and game, I doubt you'll find something better than this.
