This streaming device is awesome loving it so far!! Must have device for streaming at home!!!

For a PC gamer, with a GeForce-powered rig, Nvidia’s Shield has almost become a must-have accessory, even this far on from its initial launch last year. The ability to bring your gaming into the living room, writ large on your big-screen TV, was always part of the promise of the Shield devices, but neither the handheld, the tablet, or the previous Shield box, could fully deliver. With this wee device that’s certainly not the case anymore.

I bought this to tinker more than anything else. You can do everything from stream online content, play basic games, play graphics intensive games, play old games like Donkey Kong and use it as a Plex media server. Very good all around device.

If you’re into streaming 4K or streaming and cutting the cable this is the must item to get!

This is the best streaming player I've owned. I got tired of having so many problems with Amazon streaming players. I love the voice conntrol as it makes it very easy to navigate. The 16 GB is not a lot of space if you are wanting to download music, movies, videos or apps. The great tihing is you can get a USB drive and it will format it to the "internal storage". The other option is to buy the 50GB version. I love Youtube on it. I also love that you can download apps from the Google Play Store. I also bought the stand that NVidia made for it. It's made of rubber so it keeps it from falling off. It also keeps it cool and therefore helps the longevity of it. I would highly recommend this console if you want to stream anything. I haven't used the game part yet but I will say the controller is very well laid out with lots of buttons for whatever game youi might want to play.

And so far I am pretty satisfied. The included storage is a bit small at 16GB, but it takes 3.0 USB flash and hard drives fine. So if you have something like a easystore 4TB Western Digital hard drive you don't need add any extra power source. The gaming aspect is a nice bonus, but the "only on SHIELD" titles like Half-Life 2 and Doom 3 are stuff I'd rather play on my PC. One of my complaints is mostly on Google's end of things, they don't make searching their Google Play Store for Android TV/Shield compatible apps easy. Their web site's "Apps for Android TV" list is missing a lot, sometimes you have to look at the app to see if it is compatible with your devices. Another is trying to voice search for apps in the Shield's Google Play app is annoying, you can connect a bluetooth keyboard to the Shield, but that app won't let you use it. At least you can use Google Play's web site to look for and install apps. Last issue is that some apps don't work with using a Google Home speaker for voice commands. Google apps work fine with the voice assistant(i.e giving Youtube on my Shield commands via the Mini instead of the controller), yet something like Kodi works with the voice assistant on the controller(i.e pushing the mic icon and saying "Pause") but not on my Home.

I mainly got this device for streaming sports, t.v. and movies, working great no complaints

I currently have a non-smart Panasonic Plasma HDTV and this little device is amazing! It comes with 16gbs but you can always increase it by installing a higher capacity flash drive. I would highly recommend this to anyone who streams Netflix, cable, Hulu, etc.

This device is amazing. One of the best device I ever acquirer!!! It's so impressive on how fast this unit is. It load s videos instantly and it's extremely easy to use. I love it. It gets updated to the latest seemlessly and work flawlessly on what ever task you want to do.

I have used a few streaming boxes like Apple TV android generic boxes etc but nothing comes close to this Beast! This is powerful and works super fast navigating Kodi and android games. I use it to run emulators and a bunch of other things. This works like a charm. Loving it...

Listen.. if you're looking for a streaming device that will run a Plex server on its own, and also stream content buttery smooth, look no further. You can even stream games off of it. I have an Apple TV, and Amazon Fire TV (non-stick version), and this and the Shield out performs them all hands down. I'll admit the Apple TV is definitely more visually appealing and if you're tied into the Apple Eco System, the Apple TV is the way to go, but for us this shield is amazing. We use DirecTV Now for our cable service, so finding out that app isn't available was a bummer, BUT the Shield has a built-in Chromecast so you can stream it from your phone. Plus you have the ability to side load apps not in the app store.

Very satisfied so far. A solid purchase for streaming from various sources and gaming.

Compared to Roku, Apple and Samsung TV this shield TV is way faster on everything if you are willing to spend little more for 4k and versatility. Definitely recommended if you want to update your digital TV experience but not on as gaming console (I'll go with Xbox or Sony).

You're going to read lots of reviews of how the Nvidia Shield is the best streaming video box to watch Netflix, Hulu, YouTube, etc. I agree that it is, but I'm going to concentrate on what I use it for - retro gaming. By downloading certain apps, which are video game emulators, you can play the classic video games from many different consoles. Off the top of my head, you can play every game from the following consoles - Atari 2600, Colecovision, NES, Commodore 64, Sega Master System, Turbografx-16, Sega Genesis, Super Nintendo, Game Boy, Game Boy Color, Game Boy Advance, Sega Game Gear, NEO-GEO, Sega CD, Sega Saturn, Sony PlayStation, Nintendo 64, Sega Dreamcast, Nintendo GameCube, and MAME (classic arcade games). I might have forgotten a few. That's thousands of classic games. If you're a gamer or former gamer that loves classic retro games and wants a top notch streaming player, the Nvidia Shield is your best option.

I purchased the Shield in order to stream KODI and PLEX. It runs both extremely smooth. I was disappointed that the SD/MicroSD slot had been removed, but other than that, the product met all my expectations. No buffering. I'll admit, I don't plan to use this for gaming.

Admittedly, I'm using this system primarily to load Kodi on. The gaming aspect is secondary. I haven't messed with the gaming yet but, once I got Kodi loaded it works great for TV viewing. The system is compact and lightweight. It's barely larger than my hand. Everything set up fairly easy. Don't expect any help from the included paperwork. It doesn't even show you how to remove/replace batteries for the remote. You'll have to search online for that.

The Shield is Amazing! I am one of those people that spends an hour of research for every $100 I spend on an item. I purchases the 16gb version and out of the box, attached a 1TB hard drive, because my 8 year old and I will be putting lots of data on it. (20GB just for Minecraft Story Mode season 1 and 2) the UI is fast, responsive, and a welcomed change to a Chromecast controled from my phone. Android games are great, fast, clear, and the controler is comfortable. Considering adding the GForceNow for $7/mo to stream games. Plays well with Plex, Netflix, Sling, Amazon Video, Youtube, and voice commands through Google Home. Only thing that did not work as I hoped, was Plex Media Server, but no fault of the Shield, 75% of my library is not in a format that it plays well with. For a new setup, with a new repository of files, you can just make sure you only add the proper formats.
