Best streaming device out there by far

This is by far the best streaming device out there! Yes, it’s more expensive than a firestick or a roku or Apple tv or chrome cast...but it’s way more powerful, can play/stream 4K HDR quality, and you can play/stream video games at 60 FPS with 1080p quality. I have a roku in a different room and this in living room...it’s so much faster and responsive!

Excellent! But a few notes about running Plex...

Overall, I am really happy with my Shield. I'm not a gamer and I bought this primarily for it's ability to run as a Plex Media Server. I bought a new 4k TV and it's impossible to watch 4k content over my wifi from my old PC Plex server. Plex really pushed this ability and as a PlexPass member I bought in...
Now since there are 2 USB ports and the latest update supports adoptable storage, I thought I could save myself $100 bucks by buying a 16GB model and then attaching a USB HDD for my media and buying a 128gb stick drive to expand the internal memory. The HDD worked great, but here's the problem with the 128gb stick.
While it DID expand the Shield's internal storage, Plex - for some unfathomable reason - stores all of it's metadata (the movie reviews, posters, PlexPass content features; all the stuff that makes Plex worthwhile) ONLY IN A SECURE LOCATION IN THE SHIELD'S PHYSICAL INTERNAL STORAGE. It does NOT use adoptable storage as a location for the metadata. If you have a halfway decent collection of music, movies and TV shows, this will quickly blow out the internal storage to the point where your Shield will lock up.
Why Plex has done this is beyond me. If I had known this, I would have bought the more expensive 500gb model, but Plex not only didn't make this information available when the Shield launched, they also haven't fixed it yet.
It's not a problem on Shield's part; kodi stores all it's metadata in adoptable. So this is something that you should know about before making a purchase.
Otherwise, I'm super pleased with playback on the Shield and am starting to play games on it and loving features like Live Channels. It's a great device, but be aware of Plex's current limitations on it.

If you're looking for great quality and longevity this is your box. It's has a great amount of ram and storage to make your kodi experience one of the best you could encounter. The amazon fire stick doesn't stand a chance in comparison. Also comes with a gaming controller and tons of pre loaded games that I think most will enjoy.

Of all the TV devices I've owned, this is the best

I've owned them all, Roku, Apple TVs (all generations), Fire TVs and even the original Nexus TV. They all have the pluses and minuses (except for the Amazon Fire TVs which are really just all negative). If you are a part of the apple-verse-don't bother. Apple will only let their iTunes store on their own devices so you're stuck with the Apple TV. This one though, like the Roku, just about has it all...including KODI (you don't have to hack it like the Fire TV because it's in the app store). It also has it at 4K!
The game stream didn't work well for me, I found it too jittery on my home network (running through the Asus OnHub router). But I was running a bunch of FPS' so those are taxing on any system. Chromecast and the Google assistant is the killer here. It's almost (maybe 90%) a Google Home device on your TV. Unlike the Google home, I can't ask it to play a specific show on Netflix and the microphones aren't nearly as good as the array on the Google Home. What I CAN do is bring up my calendar, weather, itinerary etc. It also plays well with other remotes. All in all, as long as you aren't married to iTunes, this is the device to get.

Hi, We’re glad you’re enjoying your SHIELD TV. For GameStream we recommend a 5GHz router. Unfortunately, OnHub routers currently can’t be forced into 5GHz mode for SHIELD. Please reach out to us at [email protected] and include a link to this review if we can help you out with any other questions.

I bought this as an alternative to the Fire TV/Stick. It's platform and user interface is much more simple than the Fire TV/Stick. There aren't as many ads and the user can add as many apps as they do choose (within the storage allotment anyway). Fast processor. Doesn't slow down for much of anything.

I find this way better than the Amazon fire stick and the Google Voice is easy to use on the remotes. Very fast box and not only can you download many apps, you can game on in with NVidia games or Emulators purchased on the Play store. Small footprint allows easy storage by TV.

I have tried a lot of different android devices and this one is hands down the best and fastest of them all. The price was a little high, but I got it on the cyber monday sale so it was a little better. It can handle Kodi, Terrarium tv and also play all the retro video games.

This product is by far the best media player you can buy. It is jam-packed with power and outperforms all others. If you have a gaming computer with a Nvidia graphics card, you can stream games from your computer onto your TV! No lag whatsoever. And it was on sale!

Best Streaming Player in the Planet

I have used almost all streaming players in market, from China make to branded ones.
I always thought Roku and Apple streaming players were great and fast. So I always had those. Recently I purchased Nvidia in a deal and I am very impressed with its performance. Its a super small device and it works awesome, the streaming is sooper fast, and great for small android games.
Shield supports 5GHZ WiFi, so as soon as you click on a video, the video streams super fast. The player supports Google Assistant too, so I can talk and see the results on screen, also control my smart devices.
Even if the devices runs whole day, the device runs fast. I have been using this for a month now and very much impressed with its performance. I recommended this device to couple of my friends and they are very much impressed with its performance.
One of the best purchase during this years thanksgiving.

This device is golden. I bought fir my father to replace us amazon stick, now I want one! Admittedly it was hard to find videos on how to upload certain streams but it was actually really easy. It's fast and easy to use, i want to dump my Amazon stick for this!

I bought this to replace an Amazon fire TV box. This is much more than just a video streaming box. You can game on it, stream, and utilize the Google Assistant. I haven't even begin to unlock the full potential of this unit and am already in love with it.

The Best Android TV Box

It's expensive for a reason. Performance is very fast and stable. Streaming works flawlessly with good wifi performance. I've done some light gaming on it with good results, although I have not tried streaming Nvidia games from my PC. It also has enough GPU power to do transcoding when used as a Plex server. If you just need a simple streaming device, you can find cheaper options that will work fine, but if you need a higher power device, Android TV, and good system stability/support then this is your best bet.

It’s fast, reliable and fun to use. My only minor criticisms are that it is controlling the volume on the TV but the volume is very low and I can’t seem to fix it to make it louder. Also I wish the home screen was more customizable.

The shield does everything you could want in a streaming player. Plus it is an excellent gaming console. I found out you can attach PS3 and PS4 controllers to it as well for additional player. I would highly recommend this player!

I've had a roku and a fire stick. I liked the roku but a power surge killed it. I tried a fire stick and its ok since I am not a prime member. I didnt like the fire stick because its wireless. I prefer my streaming devices to be wired since it guarantees fastest connection.
The Shield is great. It picture quality is great. Google Assistant works fine but sometimes google commercial activates it. I used 1 of the usb 3 port to expand memory by adding 128gb flash drive. I like that I cn connect my bluetooth keyboard to make typing or fforward movies faster.
The best part is that i can use the game controller to connect my headphones. The downside is i wished it was on the remote like the roku. It's kind of bulky if you have to move around.
Overall I like the product

When I saw that the NVIDIA Shield was on black Friday sale I immediately went and got it as I wanted one but couldn't afford the retail price. This by far is the best streaming and game console by far. Highly recommend it.

Best Streaming Box Period. (Also a gaming system)

Did a ton of research for media streamers. All research always lead to one thing, this was the best period. I cut the cord so basically all media out side of phone and PC is done through a media streamer for me. It really shouldn't be even categorized as a streamer, in reality it is a gaming system that is mainly used as a streamer. Its video card is the same that is in the Nintendo switch. It shows spend the extra 10$ to get the bundle with the controller, it is more than worth it. Tons of unexpected free value, plus the controller is rechargeable unlike the remote ( which has one of those wafer batteries). If you want to stream this is the best choice, if its out of your price range the best possible second choice is the Amazon STICK (4k current flag ship at the time of the review). The cube is just not a good choice in my opinion.
Positives: Almost every single thing.
-speed
-4k streaming
-Lan line connection
-2 usb connections
Negatives: Almost none
-Remote, just isn't good in my opinion. Needs a wafer batter, lacks an option button, no rechargeable battery. If you got the bundle with the controller that could help here too. I personally bought a 3rd party remote I love, that runs through the USB port.
-16gb internal memory ( But you can expand it through usb ports)

Great streaming device for YouTube, Amazon Prime Movies, Gaming machine and streaming movies from Kodi as well. It can do everything and it does it well! Just youtube the many reviews and capabilities it can do.
This is a great option if you are thinking of cutting the cable cord. In Brooklyn, NY you still need to have minimum internet access thru a provider.
I highly recommend this system. Had it for over a year and very satisfied with the Nvidia Shield.

Super fast box for Kodi. Very fast. Easy setup. I own Apple TV, Roku and Rveal. So far Apple TV and NVIDIA are on the top. The fact that Kodi can be installed on NVIDIA gives it a slight edge for number 1.
