I like the way it is very fast The price is a little bit higher but it’s very good

Was recommended by many people and so glad I spent the money!! Way better than Amazon fire TV. Easy to set up, very fast on WiFi and and even better through Ethernet. Gaming can be laggy but we are WiFi and a story above the router so that could be the problem. If you don't want to game save some money and get the version without the game controller. YouTube is your friend when setting these up.

Great for streaming and gaming, better then Firestick and FireTV box. Smooth and easy to setup.

I got the Amazon Media Fire and enjoyed it but something was missing -- for the Media Fire, voice control only extended to Amazon products or media. It doesn't work when selecting a YouTube video for example. The NVidia Shield on the other hand is voice directed across all available media and looks and sounds awesome. With settings galore, it even does some simple games. I think it's the best streamer out and worth every penny.

Works great. I love it and I would buy again. It works well and plays ATMOS and all the other Types of audio. I Have not used it as a gaming machine but Plan to do so soon

I have cut the cords and this device has been nothing but impressive. I use Netflix, YouTube, SPMC, and Mobdro for streaming. No buffering and I get 4KHDR! I can even play movies that I have backed up on a hard drive! The picture and sound are awesome! Of course, it is also voice capable and works with Google Assistant and many devices. I could go on and on about this device! The capabilities are endless.

Before i bought the Shield I was an avid Roku user. After updating to the Ruku Ultra I was not able to pass DTS audio from my saved movies. I exchanged the Roku Ultra for the Shield and never looked back. ALL my codecs pass through the Shield plus the video streams are lightning fast to load. You can tell this console is beefed up. Great device, would definitely recommend to anyone who wants high quality streaming video

Love this Nvidia Shield. Its great for streaming and for gaming.

So far so good. This is a great item it's fast and holds a decent amount of apps. Plus it gives you the option to use an optional portable USB drive for SSD attached to the USB port if you choose. I would recommend this to anyone it does not drop connection and does not give problems with the apps. One thing though I did purchase a SSD mini USB and it ended up failing on me I noticed that when I felt the back of the player when it was plugged in the USB was a little warm it seems that the port gives off excess heat and killed the little Drive. That's the only complaint I had other than that I would highly recommend this 5 stars.

Advantages: 1) One of the main reasons I got this unit after already having the newest 4K HDR firestick and various no-brand android boxes it that it flawlessly is that it turns on my somewhat old Sony Bravia TV without using both Google Home and Alexa without additional fuss.(You just need to add the skill to the assistant in the corresponding phone apps.) 2) Other than that, it is the most responsive Android TV box that I have ever used, probably due to the fact that it has the best processor and cpu I have seen in a tv box. 3) Next, you have the option of using what ever android launcher you sideload into the box and setting it as default. For example, the ATV launcher is pretty cool and advertisement free, but you won't be able to install that launcher by default on the new firestick/box due to amazon blocking you out from doing so.(Yes, I tried the ADB method) 4) Has two usb A ports which can be expanded using a hub to support additional external drives/devices. (will require rooting the unit to access more than 2 external drives) 5) Built-in Ethernet port makes the network feel more snappy than using 5Ghz wifi from the same room even through TP-link AV2000 Powerline adapter to connect wired network. 6) Original Sony Playstation shaped CEC controller/remote for the Sony Bravia TV is able to control the Shield so if you happen to have this kind of remote that had a build in keyboard you won't have to connect a blue tooth keyboard and mouse to have that functionality. Disadvantages: 1) The slim remote is a too sensitive so it is pretty easy to accidentally press a button or activate the volume slider. It actually has fewer buttons than the new 4K HDR firestick remote.(no rev, play, forward, mute, menu, or power buttons) Additionally, it uses a CR2032 button battery which is non-rechargeable instead of regular AAAs which are easier to find rechargeable NiMH versions of. 2) The Gaming controller feels a bit stiff and less comfortable(harder plastic, less springy, more shallow buttons) than an Xbox One controller so if want that console controller feeling you might want to just connect a XB1 controller using bluetooth. 3) Missing feature: no sd card slot, but yea I suppose you can alleviate this by installing a card reader, and then add a usb hub so you don't end up with less available usb ports, but it would have been cool to have everything built into the shield, especially at this price point. For example, let's say you plug in a storage device, that takes up one port, and you plug in the game controller into the other port so it can charge-- with the out of box configuration, you are now out of ports lol. 4) Yes, the Nvidia shield is a bit expensive compared Amazon Firestick 4K that I replaced it with ($35 vs $179), but you are getting the fastest android TV box on the market

Just set up the box to stream in 4k. Something the fire stick wouldn't do. So far, so good!

The Shield if fast and works flawlessly. There is no lag and using Kodi is a breeze

I've got both and run them into a 4K UHD monitor. They're both very good at streaming media channels. The Roku is considerably less expensive, but not as responsive, can't be modded, and doesn't game. The Shield is very responsive, can run various Android apps, comes with a limited number of free games available, can stream Steam games if you have an Nvidia graphics card, but the control seems lag a bit during gaming. If you're ONLY running packaged media channels, the Roku will work fine and save a bit of money. If you want better response, like to mod the box, and / or do some gaming, the Nvidia is worth the increased price.

I recommend this shield over the new one that just came out because they removed the controller on the new one and there really isnt a difference between the two. The new one seems to have an improved upscaling over this system but many have said it is a software limitation they are allowing on this system since the hardware is the same.

Best streaming service, and you can stream games from you pc. I love the fact this has 4k upscale so you don't have to pay for the 4k version of Netflix. This is a powerful and amazing value. Tones of cloud based games too and apps. This is a tech lovers streaming device also can hook up a mouse and keyboard up to it

Using it for emulators and gaming, great for streaming movies as well
