Hands down, this is the best set top box available. I know it costs a little more, but it's more than worth it. No other box has the capabilities (Smartthings for example) that this one does. If you are on the fence, I would recommend this! If you aren't a gamer, save a few bucks and buy without the game controller, I haven't used mine yet.

Best streaming device, fast easy to use. Good for everyone

I bought this device to watch movies using Amazon and Google streaming services. Compared to the other streaming devices, this device has a Bluetooth connectivity option which can be used for connecting to external sound system. This was really important for me since I use my projector for watching videos. Pros: 1. Easy set up 2. High quality, high resolution video streaming 3. Gaming 4. Bluetooth connectivity for speakers Cons: 1. There is a lag in the remote and sometimes, the device doesn't respond to remote control 2. Low in built memory

Wanted the best device to stream content. Always heard that the Shield was the best but I held off purchasing until I read enough reviews and recommendations. I'm sorry I waited so long. I love love love my shield. I stream effortlessly now and have very few issues. I will be purchasing a second device soon. It is so worth it!!

This is a top of the line streaming and gaming device

I was planning on picking up the new 4K Apple TV, but the local store didn't have any in stock. I saw the Shield device on the shelf and took a look. After some consideration, I decided to buy this device and I've been quite happy with it. I am able to stream from my iPad, it has all sorts of built in goodies and access to a ton of other things on the Google Play store. My primary uses have been Playstation Vue, and streaming Big 10 Plus from the iPad and it works fantastic for both. I have yet to try any games, but that will happen soon.

We are so glad that we bought this system. We were looking for a TV streamer and the staff suggested that this was a better buy than what we were looking to purchase. I had done research prior to shopping so, I did have an idea of how this system was grade. it was plug and play and very vibrant on our 4K tv at a fraction of the price of some other gaming systems. My son is now looking to purchase one. G-Force gaming is a force to be reckoned with and they have free games as well. Most of the popular streaming apps are native to the system but you can download more. endless possibilities.

My son is the computer geek. He loved the old shield from a few yeaong it for my TV. Also great for Kodi app. My son set it up. After a few minutes of explanation to him. It is easy to use. It is faster to load. I am not a gamer. I think I will try it out. But my son has the controller. I have the other. Both are great use

Great for games, great for streaming. Fast, upgraded the storage no problem. Small learning curve to maximize its potential, but nothing a youtube vid cant hep you with. Nothing bad to say

Works well and is very fast compared to Roku anyway. It is not as simple as Roku, I wish they would make a simpler interface, but it works. The gaming is pretty cool if thats what you like. All and all it does it's job, just a little expensive. But you do get the game controller and a remote.

I have tried all the streaming devices on the market looking for a 4K device that could handle the job and this device is the first to get it done. I have tested it against all of the other 4K streamers and none can deliver as well as this...No buffering or jumpy pictures, just pure enjoyment even with none 4 videos

This is without a doubt the best Android streaming player out there. Make sure you buy the version with the gaming controller since it is only $20 more packaged with the player as opposed to $60 separately. This may also be the only Android player aside from Amazon's Fire which will allow you to stream Prime videos.

This device has everything you need for an Android box. Kodi works great and it's fast. My best advice is to use a VPN, this will virtually eliminate buffering and loss of connection. Go to YouTube for setup, tips and help because there is little to no user info or guides. Also got the best price from Best Buy.

Cancelled my cable TV and purchased this. Mainly using this as an OTA set-top-box. HDD is connected, so DVR function has been added. This also replaced my Chromecast dongle. Make sure that your NVIDIA Shield is not too close to the WiFi router. Otherwise, you may experience some lag with your controllers.

This thing is snappy fast and fun to use. If you have a newer TV, you can set up power on/off to sync with the shield and just use a single remote for everything. You can even control the volume through the shield, though, I'm not sure if that requires ARC enabled TV. There are a couple of issues that I have with the overall experience: 1) The little remote (not the controller) goes to sleep after a short time to save battery power. Then, it takes a few seconds to wake up again once you pick it up. 2) Also, the touch sensitive volume control is idiotic. Sometimes it's too sensitive, sometimes it's not. You cannot really change the volume in small increments. But you get used to it.

Love this little box! It allows me to have a Android TV box that also excels in gaming from the Google Play store due to its Nvidia hardware. Side loading apps is easy, and adding an external drive for additional storage is a breeze also. A definite buy if you are in the market for an Android TV option.

All I have to say is WOW. The shield is small, fast and a powerful tv box. It works great with Plex and loads tv shows and movies quickly. I look forward to trying out some 4k programming soon!

Seriously if you have the extra money, this is the one. Beats Mibox, Pro4x, Amazon TV and Apple (all which I've owned or set up for friends). I can not express how much more performance you'll gain over the others. Steam is also a cool niche if you game. I went with the 16 GB because you can run a flash or a external hard drive (I use a 1TB seagate and it integrates flawlessly) using a external for $50 for 1 TB is far more savvy in my opinion and does not show any signs of slow read or write times, if anything ..faster? Trust me I was on the fence of buying one just like you probably are and I'm so glad I bought it. SAVE THAT MONEY AND BUY!! You. Will. Not. Regret. It!

This is not your typical Media streaming device. Besides using the very open Android TV OS, this also links to all of the gaming that Nvidia provides. It is lightning quick to navigate and launch apps, voice controls work well, 4k supported, and the small remote can control my entire entertainment system. I think the biggest question for people would be, is it worth the high price tag? I would say if this is being used as just a media streaming device, no. However, if youare more tech savvy and want to use it more as a gaming device, media streaming device, and possibly even a core component in building a smart home, then I would say it is worth the investment.

Bought this mainly for streaming and am very happy with it. The UI is great and Android TV is responsive. The gaming controller is a little uncomfortable but works well. The standard remote is great except for the volume control. I stopped using the remote and just use my Harmony remote.
